- LIVE from the NYPL | Recorded live at the New York Public Library, Celeste Bartos Forum, on November 12, 2013.
Boxing champion, Broadway headliner, felon-Mike Tyson has defied expectations and conventional wisdom during his three decades in the public eye. Tyson, the one-time heavyweight champion of the world and a legend both in and out of the ring, joins LIVE for a conversation about his tumultuous life in the same straightforward and sincere tone seen in his new memoir, Undisputed Truth.
Over ten years later and his life has improved dramatically. And he's more wealthy now than he was before. His wife deserves credit.
An absolutely amazing man. He will be remembered for as long as humans exist.
Mike is like a hero of Ancient Greece, only alive in our times. What an incredible man, what an amazing story.
Isn't that 'amazing man' a convicted rapist?
probably the most insightful, well-read boxer who has ever lived !
I admire his deep honesty.
A complete package. Inntelligent, ferocious, intellectual, warrior. Love you Mike.
You left out 'convicted rapist.'
Genuinely remarkable. 3rd, 4th, 5th level redemption. A better man than most. A better man than me.
Holy shit. This man might honestly have the most open and beautiful soul I've ever seen.
He saved my live life
@rezaninorowzin1060 - I'm sure Mike would love to hear that, keep it up!
Mike was driven by GOD,WITH THE ANGEL OF CUS D AMATO.PERIOD.THIS IS WHY THOSE PEOPLE THAT ARE LAUGHING DONT UNDERSTAND.BUT ONE DAY!!!@ GOD WILL
You know that he's a CONVICTED RAPIST right?
A true warrior poet, and I mean that with no irony.
He's sensible and Smart, a Warrior and a poet in one person is hard to find. Tyson is that
Such an amazing soul. A gladiator and a poet. A pugilist willing to fight his own demons.
Unmatched in honesty!
One of the most difficult things to do in life.
Being truthful to oneself and to others about oneself!
I take a deep bow to Mr. Tyson
Mike Tyson is very deep smart and articulated
The best interview that i see which teach so many
Loved the end where he said he was so happy he found his wings before he hit the ground. Thanks for this!
This should go viral - to think how Mr Tyson made himself great from the most dismal upbringing - and yet acknowledges those that helped him to be the man he became. Remarkable interview !!
Mike Tyson is wise; something that can't be taught in school, but learned only through experience. But, I guess that's what's owed when you've lived a thousand lives over
As men, we sometimes seek other men that ignite a spark in us to better ourselves, especially if these men come from obscurity, become Gods and fall from grace, and like the pheonix having risen from the ashes, achieving the purity of trial by fire.
What an example of a man for all men Mike is.
As many have stated an intellectual, a warrior, in tune with his humanity, and willing to re visit his faults through the lens of truth.
You who read this, take note, Mike is someone who deserves his flowers now, in abundance, may we all have these qualities of the raw human in all its forms and promises like Mikes undoubtable shadow casts on this chaotic world.
One of the most respectable way of interviewing .. that was amazing
More people need to see this video, I've watched it twice and I'm still taking it in.
dude ive been listening to this interview almost every week, sometimes even every day when I feel like shit and unmotivated
@@Argi-em Same bro. As good as he was in the ring, he's more of a man now than he ever will be. true redemption. this guy has gone to hell and come back.
@@Ul-Haq agreed!
@@Ul-Haq LOOK at him now he’s truly bounced back, will always be a legend in my eyes
phenomenal. enlightening. beautiful. perfect congratulations to both of you
So beautifully spoken. For not exactly knowing what he was going to say, he said it with reverence and love.
This is the most interesting and compelling thing on UA-cam.
I used to watch his boxing matches while growing up because my step-father loved boxing. It’s great memories and Mike was a real life Superman; a comic book super hero.
Mike needs more hugs. He needed them then, but still does to this day..
I was 3rd row for this. He signed the book for me as well. Shook his hand. I’ll never forget it.
Mike is telling hart breaking and intense stories and the audiences are laughing 😕
White privileged audience that thought this was a comedy skit. F7cking idiots!
Yes I found that weird also as an Scandinavian. You shouldnt Laugh at everything 😮
We got a Karen here.

One of my favorite interviews, deep. Insightful and raw. All the things we love about Mike Tyson.
Absolutely brilliant...
Loved watching The champ, he is real and I respect that. He had a very hard childhood and over came it.I feel for him and he was the best boxer and very smart and has a ton of wisdom. So glad he met Cus and they were a great team.your the best ever Mike. CUS REST IN PEACE YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A LEGEND BOTH OF YOU IN 🥊
This is such an honest, touching interview.
Amazing
What a beautiful beautiful interview.
Amazing thanks library ❤
Fantastic....He's a roller ...and I for one am glad he's found his wings...He's provided me with inspiration that I've passed on to others....keep rolling and pass that on to your children
Thank you Paul!
Nice interview with Mike displaying great insight, intelligence and poetic thinking.
Great interview this guy didnt interrupt him and let him finish. I enjoyed this so much.
Ah. What an interview! Paul did a fabulous job of allowing Mike to express himself and not to interrupt him and hearing Mike describe the passages he wrote about in his book is surreal and moving. A phenomenal bounce back from Mike and I wish him the best on his future endeavors!
mike tyson is incredible. i respect that man.
Mike Tyson is a great man.
Transformation ❤
hes the coolest man. respect❤
One of the best people alive. What an inspiring and complex life...
given the right chance tyson is a fucking poet
Anyone else find themselves at about 33:30 asking “what the fuck is going on?” 😂 what a hero
yes.... sublime hiatus. I love Myke !!
❤
58:44. Perfection.
I love the part he talked about Duran 44:44
Please have a interview with tyson and herzog together.
It’s kinda sad how the audience laughs at a lot but of this… if only they knew
So ignorant
This guy is definitely trying to get a reaction from Mike. Well done Mr M. Tyson
If Mike was born 700 year earlier, he would have been a King that punched out King Arthur and stole his sword.
@@Ul-Haq you've never heard of the Moors?
@@Ul-Haq so I guess you've never heard of Mansa Musa, the King of Mali who had so much gold he broke Egypt's economy by simply giving them gifts while on his Hajj?
Also, if you're going to take issue with the statement of punching King Arthur in the face, why not instead point out that Arthur didn't exist? Or that the king he would have actually punched would have been either Edward I or II
People love mike because Mike's real and people are real life's real and life smacks everybody right in the face no matter who u are
This interview would’ve been a lot better if Herzogs Advice was taken
31:30
Pay attention. Not a criticism but a suggestion.
Mike tyson 10/10
Interview 10/10
Audience 0/10
to see Mr.Mike`s tattoo as a tribal marking puts it in perspective now ,,, i love symbolic face paint,,,,
Tyson is probably the most coherent boxer ever. Think about the fact that he hasn't been punched as many time as mot other boxers.
And he has roughly the equivalent as a Master's degree in History.
1:05:07 wow that mentality🔥🔥🔥
58:21
Mike is re-ironed...Brooklyn~
After a 5 min monologue by Mike .. Paul goes .. Mike .. Mike .. how do you know this shit? 😂
31:30
To interview Mike Tyson is to walk on eggshells. He's a very intense man, and it's hard to know where to go.
1:09:46
"Say something..."
"This guy beat the shit out of me" lmaooooo😂😂😂
A lesson in humility. We all lose but what did you learn.
Just love Tyson . The host only read the book but not his history , so he could not have a fluent starting at the beginning .
Holdengraber is out of his depth in this interview in my humble opinion. He doesn't seem to grasp Mikes mind. Fortunately, Mike made it a successful interview.
"A room without a book is like a body without a soul."_Champ
I just don't understand how some people in the audience were laughing.
Listen...😅
They arent laughing at him. They are laughing at how badly the champ just destroyed their preconceived notions. Sometimes, when your personal view changes that drastically & that quickly, all you can do is laugh. Typically, people only change our views that quickly when it's a moment of great disappointment or disillusionment. The champ did it with wonderment and a new found appreciation.
How could anyone insultHow could anyone insult this man? Who is the one and only proper Bible to exist?
Im white and I love him because not only did I grow up idolizing him but I love the fact that he leaves colour out of the picture, doesn't blame everything on his skin colour like all the young people today do. Black's today think it make them powerful and more heard and just trying to be famous by using that as there pedestal? They are only oppressing themselves more.

@@truthmonster3290 you are showing somthing of someone on their lowest point in their life. grow up. if you showed him this video today he was apologise to your face.
Obviously you don't know a lot about him
The stereotypes that you use to attempt to convey and mask your own inner conflict, is weak.
Stay a Tyson fan... And in your lane!💯
what the fuck are you talking about!
voyeurism
this interview aint great
THIS IS THE GREATEST TYSON INTERVIEW I'VE EVER SEEN IT ECLIPSES EVEN ROGAN
