The Dock Demon and similar rigs go on clearance sometimes. Really good deal.

These light tackle videos are great. Dave clearly shows that you don't need a bunch of high tech stuff, to catch your dinner, ANYWHERE.
I've found that if you quietly ease up on a likely spot (don't go running and stomping), give the fish a few minutes to adjust, they will return to normal.
It's been said the record size fish are lurking in ponds, creeks, and small lakes, and it's tons of fun just catching them and being out in nature.
I believe that the main part of going fishing is just being outdoors on a sunny day, catching dinner is just frosting on the cake. ;-)

A lot of people don't understand that shorter rods are more accurate. They just don't cast as far and the hookset isn't as good with the same amount of effort. But I love those little dock demon rods. I have some really nice 13 & Lew's gear but I will always keep Zebco around as alternative means of survival or just in a pinch.

Made for a nice day for sure! Love bluegill and pumkin seed here in Massachusetts. As a kid, caught a good size bluegill, made a fire, and tried something I saw on the pbs show "Zoom", after cleaning packed in fresh bank clay and tossed it on the coals. Scales and skin came off with the baked clay! Thanks for the post Dave!

Hey Dave, could you expound on lure selection given conditions? I'm most curious about color choice. I know you really like the rooster tails (great lures), but I never really know which color to choose for the target fish and water condition. Thanks!

Dave I am loving these on the waters edge videos. It has got me looking again at my various kits to make sure they are working properly and see if I need to make any changes to them. I have realized that I need one for saltwater and freshwater here in Florida.

We'd call those big mouth Perch/Bass hybrids Goggle-eyes. they chow down on the little bugs like the Cotton Mouths and Copperheads! We used Cane poles, but a short little flipper looks great!! and, can stash it in a kit.. Great info on the fishing there, but I'd suggest adding bug spray and Snake-bite kit, snake awareness.. they are there fishing like you are!

I have a little pole like that. I dont think its a dock demon. But a kids pole that was on clearance at walmart. That thing is awesome. All i use for trout and panfish fishing anymore. Its a no brainer. Got the idea from deermeat4dinner. They used kids rods salty fishing and smoked em. Good stuff. Thanks again David🎩🇺🇸🌄🛡⚔🦁💪

Just some advice putting the hook on the eye can scratch it and potentially weaken the line. Best bet is to hang the hook between rhe eye and pole. Look forward to the next video have a good one

Are they bedding there? I pulled out a dozen bluegill today. They were bedding-just drop in hook and pull out a fish. Let em all go back. Fun stuff.

Apparently great minds think alike. I just picked up a 2 piece ice fishing rod and a size 50 spinning reel for this exact purpose. The rod came in a nice little 17" plastic tube that slides right in to the pack and is barely even noticeable.

Love beaver ponds and the streams that feed them. Where I am its a three season pursuit. I get mostly brookies and browns, with the occasional rainbow. Usually on dry flies. I might try your little spinning rod with a fly and bubble. It's a perfect size for a pack canoe.

It's a good idea to only put hooks in hook keepers or guide supports, since ceramic guides could be damaged, which in turn could possibly compromise the line. Nonetheless, good stuff!

Adjust my personal experience with sneaking up and a place and fishing I love my small telescopic rod?? About 10 years ago I thought that I would buy a novelty item
    Ron co Pocket fisherman .
It is like having a handrail??
It's a little bit bigger but it works like a regular fishing pole I find it's not much for bait casting with a white and cork .
The handle has a small tackle box and you can carry some of those items with you rooster tail, s and roadrunner in colors of white and chartreuse?? With a little practice I learned to fish even in some of the heaviest brush where you had problems getting to the water and make my way into the thick of it to catch a couple of good fish. I prefer 6 to 8 lb test. I can carry it in my backpack I can carry it in my hand and I can carry it in my fanny pack I can throw it behind the seat of my car or in the pick up glove box. I still use my telescoping rods I have several but there's something about that little setup that just keeps bringing fun and joy into my life with my sneak attack fishing trip and end the hit and runs they didn't see me coming until they hit the frying pan.

I hunt the brookies here up north.
Not sound each step, stay low to avoid motion being seen, clothes match background, face behind hat shade, kneel and cast in waders, and due to moving water always casting upstream where them fishies are looking !
I catch & release more and larger. Except when they all just say bugger off.
