Jeff The Landshark is/was Gwenpool's pet. Then he was hanging out with Deadpool for a minute. Then Elsa Bloodstone took over as his caretaker. And then he moved in with Kate Bishop. Jeff is also close buddies with Squirrel Girl, and I think Kamala Khan? Gwenpool is a girl from the real world who got sucked into the comics. Her name is Gwendolyn Poole. She looks a lot like Gwen Stacy. When she went to the superhero tailor to get a superhero costume and told him her name was "Gwen Poole", the tailor assumed she was another Deadpool variant, so he made her a white and pink Deadpool-style costume. So she became Gwenpool. And since she's a comics nerd from the real world, she has tons of insider knowledge about the entire history of Marvel canon, and knows everyone's secret identities and weaknesses and tropes and stuff. And she knows how to manipulate story conventions and tropes, and how to leave the panel she's on and go to other pages, and she can rewrite events, and erase things, and negotiate with the writers, and stuff like that. If you haven't seen Werewolf By Night: Elsa Bloodstone is a legendary monster hunter. Her father, Ulysses Bloodstone, was basically the Simon Belmont of the Marvel Universe. She inherited his monster hunting skills and abilities, and the Bloodstone he gets his monster ass-kicking powers from. If you haven't seen the Hawkeye series: Kate Bishop is Hawkeye's protégé. She also goes by "Hawkeye", to a degree. Her skills are pretty much a combo of Hawkeye's archery and swordsmanship, combined with Mockingbird's (Hawkeye's wife's) skill with batons and staves. So she's kinda like their spiritual "daughter", despite not being related to either of them. She's the leader of the Young Avengers.
yeah the game is definitely in the early stages of like “run this lineup and you instantly win or at least stalemate” but i’m happy that they launched with a large variety of characters bc i thought it was going to be like 8 options.
Fun fact! Squirrel girl has never lost a single fight in any comic. Ever. The way she does this, particularly in the ones where she would logically have no chance of winning, is by having everything happen "off-screen" and just showing the end result of her being victorious. She was created as a side character for a single comic (an iron man comic, if memory serves) and wasn't seen for ages, then was brought back on a more permanent basis years later when writers wanted a break from a trend of Marvel storylines becoming progressively darker.
I like the aesthetic (despite being VERY similar in style to Overwatch) but the main gripe I hear is that it's hard to tell what's happening. All the heroes look cool but all their attacks are so visually noisy. In most games everyone just has regular guns but in this everyone has unreadable multicolored particles that explode into more effects. In most games big, flashy attacks are a downside but in this they don't matter since no one can tell who is shooting from where. I'm sure they'll improve it but right now it's really messy.
The more you play the more you learn the visual chaos, because they don't tell you a bunch. Kinda like OW, you gotta put in the time to learn what's happening
I don’t play overwatch, but I’ve watched enough streamers play it to echo Smith’s statement: I have no idea what’s going on and winning seems hallow. So I appreciate people are enjoy…IS THAT THE MOON!?
I wanna see Uncle Ben be like...a pretty shit hero, but you have to CC him because if he actually dies, Spiderman gets a buff and it stacks every time he dies. So you can't just kill him. You have to leave him alone and let him chip away at you with his little pistol or something.
Mostly agree with smith, after having played about a dozen hours, it's fun but as of right now, overwatch had better readability, silhouetting and pacing. I hope they improve that. This is so frantic and fast paced it's often hard to tell what's going on. And it shows, as many teammates are just running around doing nothing. Some ults also feel insanely impactful compared to others, with almost no time to react to them and quite generous hitboxes, notably Jeff. You can be out of the circle entirely and still be caught up in it.
Smith just loves to be a contrarian - the game isn't lazy if you know the MU. All the heroes have their abilities around their thematic elements from the comics and what is possible with their powers... but no, compare it to Overwatch - because that's the only hero shooter in existence. /s
I like playing Overwatch, but I struggle to tell what's happening with all the effects on screen. However, this game's art-style feels even more confusing. There's too much detail in the characters, environment, and effects that blends into way too much visual noise and makes the characters feel small and annoying. If I were playing, I wouldn't be able to find the enemies and have to rely on following the flashing effects to their source. And there is A LOT of flashing effects.
I think if ya jus know in general what all the characters do ya won be confused by the visuals. Cause it seems pretty simple to me. I've never been confused by my screen I know what's happenin even if I'm too shit to do anythin bou it.
@@Zandraxshinobi TF2 wasn't "of its time". It's still the best one. Even after nearly TWENTY YEARS it's still the 20th most played game on Steam. Twice as many people play TF2 as play Overwatch 2. lol Marvel Rivals is BY FAR the most interesting potential successor to TF2 that there has been so far. Right out the gate, it's already got insane potential and doing interesting stuff we've never seen in a TF2 game before. They're only going to balance and adjust, and add more characters, and add more maps, and add more skins, etc etc.
@ieyke I mean that's what of its time means it was inventive 20 years ago and these games haven't changed enough to make them new games or succesors. But your absolutely right, if this does well, and they have a decent road map and make those changes and keep updating the game then I 100% agree with you, I hope it does well, my main point as with my comment in the channel is; it's not inventive currently and they have literally used the same animations and sound designs of a currently successful game. Your point is truly valid, and so is mine man.
Pretty sick quad kill by Rob's Hanzo at 2:50
I am pleased to know Hulmes knows the YOJIRO meme lmao
Doesn't everyone in the entire world know Yojiro? He is a legendary flute player after all.
I've been summoned to the wrong place

Pretty sure squirrel girl has never seen Jeff since shes new york based and jeff is in East Coast Avengers
@DrDarkheart I'm not guessing. I know for a fact that Jeff and Squirrel Girl are close friends.
As a Swedish guy im still shook that the King of the Symbiotes is named Knull... it LITERALLY means 'fuck' in Swedish lmao
Yeah, same here in Norway 😆
Nobody speaks Swedish though so it's fine ;)

The MOOOOOON!!
I prophesied its arrival, yet everybody mocked me!
Christopher Trott is my favorite Marvel supervillain
Very happy to see Mark on the channel

Oh good god. That was fast!?
blame squirrel girl lol

If you play this game and read the moves/objectives, it's pretty easy to understand what's happening after a few games

I love playing as Scarlet Witch, shes my #1
I really love these small indie games…
YOJIROO
Losers imitate, winners steal
Its not just ross that has dog vision in this one lol
My love of Marvel and Hulmes can't outweigh my dislike of Overwatch type games.
I'm surprised to see you guys do not a half bad job this time.
Proud of yous.
I'll find something to complain about next time 🖕
“Its low-key cool.” 😮💨
They didn't copy Valo's sleek, fast-paced BEST OF TWENTY FIVE?
Preposterous!
Venom movies are good, yes, all of them
I have no idea what's happening in the game.
HOWEVER! I know that Ross must be cancelled for his ignorance of the lore.
nice
I like the graphics.
always a joy to see Sportsjacket being active on multiple channels.
I wish there was a Batman villain game like this (NOT Injustice or Warner Bros. Brawl rip-off).

Won’t watch just listen. Will make you sad to watch XD
I can never watch these guys play games I actually play, it's too infuriating.
You can't complain about Marvel Rivals being like Overwatch when Overwatch is just a Team Fortress 2 knock-off.
No ones complaining, just that it's lazy, TF2 was of it's time and so was overwatch. This just isn't is it.

this game is not good on ps5 there is so much lag and plus this game sucks so bad to
I will pay member if it allows my to vote so they never play this again
This is just overwatch, like i own multiplayer games that are 20 years old it's the only game ive bought that has lasted less time than food.
I haven't seen anything of this game until now. I've assumed it was just the slop equivalent of Deadlock, this video kinda confirms.
I love how dumb hat films can be. Like full on real dumb.
big corporate company copycats game from big corporate company, how soulless
Well, the game's shite but we've got Mark so overall a good video
this is not a good game
