The awkward pauses that the voice actors use while they're saying their lines kinda imply that Garen and Kat are putting saying that to those around them so as to not give away that they, in fact, know each other.
Honestly, I like the contradictions found within Demacia and Noxious. In my opinion, the fact that they both make you love them in some ways but hate them in others make them seem more real and all the more enjoyable lol
