I have never seen this show but I think you two sold me. Thanks for making this video.
It’s about time Bonanza complete series comes out. Just got mine! Love it and love Bonanza. I used to record these episodes on VHS tapes and later converted them to DVD but picture quality was poor. This is my personal treasure I have looked for for 25 years!
Thank you to andrew glad he actually cares about these classic shows every big company should have someone like him around to remind them about what we care about. haven't gotten the set yet but will as soon as possible i know a lot of people been hoping for this set for years i do have many of the other sets he helped get re released..
Thanks for another great episode Heath! You are doing the lord's work over here!
OMG! Just looking at the video thumb and this box set is mesmerizing!! I need to have it lol
Drives me crazy knowing that the remastered HD files of those shows EXIST- and are just sitting there.
Love these behind the scenes videos, keep 'em coming! Thanks, Heath!
Great interview! So interesting to hear what goes into fantastic DVD sets like this.
Western I most want on Blu-ray is "Winchester '73" (1950) When Criterion? What is the holdup!?
Also "One Step Beyond" complete and restored seasons Two and Three on DVD at least would be nice, considering the complete and restored season One (which still looks fine) was released in. 2009!
I remember watching this show while visiting my grandparents. They played it at a very high volume!
I’d like to see a Roy rogers complete tv/ movie collection next if it would ever be possible
Great interview and cool video Heath!👉🙂👈
What a terrific episode. More please.
Great show!
Cisco Kid…
It was also the first television series to be filmed in color, although few viewers saw it in color until the 1960s. There were 156 half-hour episodes filmed between 1950 and 1956.
I'm just glad we got these physically, but a bluray opinion would have been great and would take up less space, I wish company's would think of preserving content to the highest video quality possible, especially since newer generations would look over these classics becouse of the 480p image much like most people do with black and white movies saddly.
Even the Spanish dubbed
I was always wondering why DVD is still selling more than blurays. In my opinion, one of the factor is because the individual DVD is selling way cheaper than blu-ray. And the average consumer doesn't care that much about quality, so they go with the cheap option.
Yup, that's exactly what it is. For most people who buy movies, DVD is good enough. There are only a few thousand of us dedicated Blu-ray and 4K collectors (probably less than 20,000), but there are hundreds of thousands of DVD buyers--and millions of streamers.
Don’t forget about libraries! They buy dvds as it’s a good option that can get scratched up a bit and still work.
It's a sad that many once-popular shows will probably never get a proper remastering due to money/lack of interest, not just westerns.I remember when a company licensed the Lee Marvin cop show M SQUAD from Universal. They were told that Universal didn't have digital masters made,so the company was given two choices:either pay a large amount to Universal to make new masters,or pay a lot less and find their own copies. The company did the latter, and the set looks awful! Some eps are from beat up 16mm copies, many are from muddy off-air VHS copies! It's an official release that looks like a public domain Mill Creek set!
Thanks Heath. This is what I have ordered. I am excited for it!!!! Still sad about the bonus disk though!!! Oh Well maybe one Day there will be a way😃😃😄!!
Great interview, Heath!! Very informative and enjoyable! I'm loving my BONANZA and GUNSMOKE sets!! Also loving my blu-ray set of THE VIRGINIAN, and season 1 of RAWHIDE on blu-ray! Have you heard any word on season 2 on bluray from viavision?
I haven't heard a thing about Rawhide Season 2. I hope it's coming, but it's been 9 months since season 1. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to hear that Rawhide Season 1 wasn't a big seller--backing up everything Mr. Klyde said about why TV on Blu-ray is much riskier than TV on DVD (ViaVision released the entire series of Rawhide on DVD).
Thanks!
THANK YOU!
If they did SD ON BLURAY like Turbine does- they would have used 50% less discs and it wouldn't be so freakin' huge.
But nobody would buy them. That format is the lowest selling of anything.
@@CerealAtMidnight every time the format issue comes up in the comments, is as if people are willfully choosing to not understand how businesses work.
Everyone knows how "they should have done it" but no one understands the most basic component of what it takes to get these sets into consumer's hands.
I'm an older Millennial / Gen Y, and I'm a huge fan of old Westerns. The modern lack of interest in the genre is baffling to me, because you can tell any kind of character-based story within the format. I purchased the Gunsmoke set earlier this year and want to get the Bonanza set as soon as I can. Keep 'em coming, please!
Thanks Heath. Awesome interview !!!! Questions I have all the individual seasons. It is mentioned the Season 2 remaster has been released. Do you have a link to that? Also is there a way to get the Bonus Disk or is it only in the Complete series. Maybe with season 2?
Update: I checked with Andy Klyde and he wants to assure all that in fact season 2 (completely restored and remastered digitally this year, and with additional bonus features not available with the previous analog 2010-2011 season 2 2-volume DVD release) is available separately, as are season 12, season 13 and season 14 sets. No bonus disc however, unless you get the complete series box set. No season 2 release in 2015 (despite what Amazon indicates).
Link to the newest season 2 release (with new cover art and available in a complete season set, not divided in two parts).

My wife was totally psyched when I told her the complete series of Bonanza was coming out! I'm going to get it for her birthday, if not before!
PS: Heath, are you going to do a video on the box set for Ozzie & Harriet that hits the shelves in a few weeks?
I didn’t know there was one! I was buying the seasons individually, ht I stopped after season 4 because I had a feeling they might package them together. I’m excited to hear that they did, but nervous if the price.
These interviews are great! I love hearing the challenges and magic that goes into these releases! I was on the fence about this purchase, but now I am going to pick it up! Thank you again. FYI - The Virginian is being released on Blu Ray from Germany. I’ve picked up season 1-2, and they look great! Rawhide season one has also been released on Blu Ray by Via Vision in Australia:)
@@CerealAtMidnight It's coming out on December 19. It's currently $138.99 on Amazon and Walmart, but Walmart says it is out of stock at the present. I stopped after buying the first season in anticipation that a complete series release was coming one day. I'm glad I waited.
@@CerealAtMidnight Buy it and review it and give me a nod in the video for giving you the heads up 🤣
I heard Walmart is getting to the dvds printing dvds ,i read it somewhere on line about 1-2 months ago do you know if this is true or not
Rumor. Not confirmed.
Hi Heath,
I bought ALL the Bonanza series, one by one as they were released. What do I need to do to get an upgraded season 2? Also do the last seasons have to be upgraded or are these the upgraded ones?
Paul
Hi Paul, my understanding is that the last seasons should be the same, but you can get the updated season 2 through the links I've pinned to the top of these comments or in the video's description. Thanks!
Wow, new to your channel Big fan of classic tv dvds. Really enjoyed this interview though not a huge Bonanza fan.
Thanks for watching! Glad you found me.
Heath out here doing the lords work
Are the 3 tv movies, Bonanza: The Next Generation (1987), Bonanza: The Return (1993) & Bonanza: Under Attack (1995) included?
They are not.
@@CerealAtMidnight ah well, doesn't put me off buying
How are the dvd’s housed inside the cases?
The overlapping style, with up to three discs stacked on top of each other.
@@CerealAtMidnight , I just got my set today! Very excited about this! I might put the discs in separate cases if they’re stacked. I’m afraid they’ll get scratched when removing and putting them back in.
Hey Heath I was just thinking will every Scooby Doo movie and TV series ever get a Blu Ray release someday somehow in the future since next year is the 55th anniversary of Scooby Doo or something like that
No, Logan, I don't think that's very likely. Sorry.
@CerealAtMidnight Oh okay that is fine by me but Will Family Guy Seasons 18 19 20 21 and beyond ever see the light of day on physical media
@@CerealAtMidnightwill they ever put bonanza on blu ray
