    I have one with 116k and I absolutely love it. I was a lot attendant for a few years in college and drove every comparable SUV and in the price point there is nothing even close in my opinion. This car is genuinely fun to drive

    Just got a 2014 model. Really happy. Turbo diesel. Now for a lift kit and 20 inch wheels….

    Awesome review! I just leased a 2016.5 CX-5 (same as the review) and I'm really loving it so far. My only quibbles are with the Mazda Connect infotainment system, which seems unnecessarily and overly complex (there doesn't seem to be a way to just turn the thing off!) and with the auto dual climate control, which also seems more complex than it needs to be. (I guess I'm a bit old-fashioned.) But its looks are second to none compared with other cars in its class, and it's also a very impressive drive/ride as well.

      As far as I've been able to tell, you just can't turn the thing completely off. You can blank out the display (or just show the time), but the "Music" part of the system will still be on. If you're playing FM or a CD, they'll still be playing if you blank out the display; if you don't want to hear anything, you've got to mute the volume or turn it all the way down. I've also discovered that if I'm playing my own music (CD, Bluetooth audio, iPod via USB), when I pause it, the music resumes automatically if I turn off the car and then restart it later). If I pause something, I want it to STAY paused until I resume it myself--again, there's no way to just STOP the thing from playing! I admit these are pretty minor annoyances in an otherwise outstanding car, and they're probably nothing a firmware update can't fix. I've already contacted Mazda about this; keeping my fingers crossed.

      I own the Touring version of the 2016.5 CX-5. What I like about the infotainment system is the physical knobs. Some other cars force you to use the touch screen. It is pretty intuitive. I never bothered with the manual. Just play with it and it gets to be automatic soon enough. Operating the basic features was obvious to me. One thing to be aware of: the touch screen is not usually available when the car is moving.

    car reviews from a non-car guy. Where did you get that idea!? Very entertaining lol! Btw That black box thing behind the mirror is for the camera for lane departure warning.
    What is that bag of stuff u pulled from under the center armrest?? O.o

    • @jasonandrew412
      @jasonandrew412 7 років тому

      rainystorm88 that is correct sir! That "black box" is part of the iActivesense package and holds all the cameras and sensors for the safety systems. The bag of stuff that was removed from center console is actually cup holder inserts. Basically, they are spacers so if you have a short drink such as a can of soda, you won't lose it in the deep cup holder!

    The CX5 is a difficult car to drive due to tue A and C thick pillars. Backing up is hard to get a clear vision of what is behind. Also the headrest are blocking drivers view when turn head back.

    I own the touring model 2016 CX-5 AWD and didn't like it. Ride is a bit firm and the steering is a bit on the heavy side to my liking. On a side note: MPG is not as stated and/or estimated per this model. 23-25 highway mileage.

      We're sorry to hear that! We love the sporty driving feel of the CX-5, especially on the new models!

      My front wheel drive gets a lot better mileage than that, even with my automatic transmission. I love my CX-5 2016.5 Touring.

      I have experienced the opposite...getting great mpg on a used 2016.

    I don't like the Electronic handbreak. Give me back the normal old handbrake why make things easy to go wrong.

    Just bought a Soul Red one.
    Sweet motor and handling.......but EVERY car should have a temp gauge, the CX5 doesn't.
