Thank you for pointing out the "cop outs" that are so common in these spiritual circles. "It's all an illusion" is especially disturbing. There are a lot of people who think they have it all figured out when all they have done is catch a glimpse of the truth. Too many fragmented awakenings, being confused with Wholeness. Glad there are a few of us confronting that and helping others to avoid these pitfalls.

After listening to this interview I bought and read (in a day) Mary's book, which is beautiful and rings true in a loving, hopeful way. There are many striking parallels between Mary's discoveries and A Course in Miracles. I also thought of Rick's interview with Leonard Jacobson. Like Mary Reed, he had a vision in which he experienced himself as Jesus on the cross and felt he was shown the development of humanity.

Am listening to this and heard her mention Rudy Bauer in the DC area. We used to go to satsangs at he and his wife Sharon's home when we were all in Siddha Yoga back in "The Day." Wow! Am so happy you are having all of these sages, saints, and seekers on your show! Will continue to watch and contribute to your channel. May have a few suggestions for future interviews. HI, Rick, I've been trying to find Mary's Book as I am SOOO profoundly touched by her experience. I listen to your interviews so often and am so grateful for this gathering of souls you bring to those of us who might otherwise really feel alone on our own awakening paths. Peace, love, and music. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Jill

    Something strange had happened…
I was not afraid of death for quite a very long time.
Then, suddenly, I was no longer afraid of the suffering either.
I said… ...give me fair share of suffering.
I said… ...give me what none of your children want. Give me shame, guilt, pain, injury, suffering. It is OK. I will take whatever you give me and will thank you God. You have already given so much. Now, relax. Take it easy. Enjoy. In the the town full of complainers and askers; I am willing to bear all that is unwanted and the leftover, God. Be at ease. No need to worry about me. Whatever comes is good. Whatever comes, I will take it as a gift.

As I started looking forward to the suffering, suffering was becoming harder to find. I would still get little angry, irritated, little disappointed at times but that sting was not really there. Even the Things and events that could be called stressful and sad had stopped appearing as suffering.

      +TOA (Transmission of Awakening)
I can only speak out of my own experience. But " NO fear of death" is one thing. Confronted with a moment out of the blue, where your live suddenly could be "taken" your survivor instinct will kick in. One can learn at such moment, that maybe there is no fear of death,if one is "in control". The same with suffering...
" The Death of loved ones , natural disasters and ..fill in the dots, Seem to come, when non expected .And have a tendency to " attract more of it". To suffer or not to suffer at that moment , or to what extend ,could be "relative" . But why ask for it....Everybody gets his share. it is not necessary to ask for it. For myself , it came after a life with up and downs. Mature and seasoned.
If i would use the quote "God only gives so much suffering , that one can bare". I would add " But the limit off what one can bare , can be stretched and stretched to the limit. And then some more.
Enjoy the moments the grace of peace you have.

You said it quite well. The general idea of death is not the same as actually dying !
. I am "not afraid of death" for quite some time. Then something happened. And I became on perfect super focused, non thinking 'machine"to escape that situation., adrenaline took over and apparently i survived.
Try to push a doubting "jumper" of a roof. The first thing he will do is cling on o you not to fall down!
Maybe TOA whoever he/she is will sit in a lotus posture and will say "just shoot me".
      I do not know.
But i notice his "poetic writings get on your nerves hey..LOL .
The reason why i often defend Rick. Is because he is out THERE. With his face and name on the screen. And "we" are here criticizing him. And everybody can say something negative. I do, you do to. No problem.
.But some people live to "ride along" on ricks show every week, either pounding the guy.Or writing endless monologues about "the beauty of being enlightened
If they have so much time an so much to say, Make some video's and go for it!
Why i changed the subject is because it has a common ground .FEAR. They are not afraid to give there opinion. But they are afraid that if they try a channel on their own, and nobody watches..what then? Or if they get laughed away? And they look like a fool!
i am getting a bit abstract here. But i hope you understand who and what i mean.

Wow, it is so amazing listening to Mary describe her attempted suicide, because I KNOW exactly what she was experiencing at that moment she tried to take her own life. I was all alone two times when my only son was dying. The 1st time when doctors told me my son was not going to live, there was no one with me and no one I could call. The same exact thing happened again 3 years later when he did make his transition from this life. I KNEW he and I had made this soul agreement to go thru this together. There is NO Judgement if a person takes their own life, we can not Know what their soul plan our purpose is. No, there is no escaping the soul's plan, so they will have to come back and do it all over again, but their NO judgement by anyone in spirit.

Why interrupt Mary with YOUR trip? I understand. I've lost people to suicide, too. I understand. But her message is larger than her suicide attempt. I just saw her in person last night. She's great.

Just thinking out loud here ;-) about this strange California phenomenon of 'spiritual teachers' coming out of the woodwork. I don't think that there are more people having 'spiritual awakenings' at all. I think that people are becoming farther and farther from their natural, healthy selves, so, when someone 'gets a glimpse of their true nature' they think that they are different, special. If you've had this kind of very preliminary awakening, you see the world and people in a different light, and some of what you see can be very difficult to deal with. What if you 'wake up' and find that almost to a one, people are 'lost', 'asleep' , 'deluded'. How on earth are you going to deal with these folks? How are you going to earn a living, working for some mega corp? For some manager who is completely lost and believes their widgets are the center of the universe? If you have actually had a 'profound, unspeakable' awakening you would just quietly just go about serving and creating. Going with the flow of life. What need to draw attention to yourself? What need to charge $150 per Hr for Skype sessions? Think about these qualities, rarely talked about here, humility, service, charity, compassion, etc,. I promise you that folks with these spiritual qualities are very, very easy to find and they are far, far more awake than these 'spiritually awakening' folks here. But you don't notice them, why? These awake folks are quietly working in human services or creating incredible art. They are masters who change and uplift lives daily and, to them, nothing unusual is happening and they are not making a big deal about anything because they are pretty much selfless and at peace. They are moved by life and respond from their depths, not their history and conditioning. If you want to find a 'spiritually awakening' person, go to an assisted living facility or 'old age home'. Jump through their paperwork and hoops so that you can volunteer. I promise you this will do more for your 'spiritual growth' than a year of neo-teacher retreats. You will find a relatively small number of people who are in the last years of their lives and have completely come to terms with life, completely given up all arguments with life. If you are sensitive, at all attuned to subtle feelings and sensations, you will find some of these folks emanating peace. Thick, black, velvet peace. You'll also find some of the most 'spiritually awake' folks working there. Sincerely kind and good hearted, selfless folks who see nothing more important in life than helping another person. The 'awake' are easy to find, you are just looking in the wrong place. But if you spend most of your time on the computer instead of living life, you look on the computer. The awake are found living life deeply, serving and creating, and are too busy living to sell someone their own birthright, what they truly are, etc. Talk about paradox. What you are looking for really is 'closer than your own breath,' and all that, but you are expecting it to look like something in particular, something special, 'spiritual', different. May your journey be blessed.

+brazfan I can relate to a lot you say. I do think there are "self realized" people. Only there are not "more of them" I think there have always been people. Just people, from doctors to housewife's. That do not think it is something special. But they help more people in their life time, then all these "neo non dual teachers" Together! A helping hand here.a place to sleep there. Being there at there right moment .And not thinking they are anything special. What i think i that what is seen as a "spiritual evolution" Is the growing influence of social media. It gives all these "teachers" a platform, They had not before. There also real" Teachers" pointing people to the right direction. But sadly, for the "laymen" there are so much "teachers" coming out of the woodwork (LOL) .That one often chooses the one with the smooth or sensational stories.
The "Great, real/ Guru;s "of Indian Advaita vendanta . to whom a lot of these "new enlightened teacher seem to point. Never asked a rupie....That is often ,easily forgotten.

+brazfan I like your thoughts,I'm very skeptical about these "teachers" and their motives, not specifically Mary Reed at this moment because I have only just found her.
There are millions doing great service to humanity, that keep to themselves and, have no interest in drawing attention, because they realise the Lord of Love knows everything they do is witnessed and recorded .
All they care about is that serving Him in others suffering in a natural way, usually for free, is all that matters..

Interesting. I have met 2 people who have relived the life of Jesus through his eyes and know of another. Two of them quietly believe that they are the soul of Jesus, and the third just shrugs his shoulders as if to say, "that's just the tip of the iceberg, my friend."

Surrender unto the Lord Buddha. The distance from the Passion implies selfishness. The salad breath or soul this night (anapanasati Stage 16 final) return the original owner was a natural. I'm sorry to say after an hour of watching excessive hand movements sky gazing and talk,I have had to pull the plug on this one, I find myself getting more and more wound up,
waiting to make some sort of sense in all this dialogue,a lot has been said but nothing has been said of any inspiration ,to say she has been in the the body of Jesus at his Crucifixion, why not at the sermon on the mount? anyone can imagine the terrible pain at Crucifixion but not everyone could imagine the state on Being whilst delivering some of most beautiful teachings and to be in the Buddhas mind at Enlightenment and remember her first conscious thought back billions of years, seems just fanciful psycho therapeutic wishful thinking and doesn't impress, anyone could claim all sorts of things.
Psycho therapy deals with the mind and is not to be trusted in spiritual matters which are far beyond the minds fantasy egoic phenomenal world.
Maybe Mary opens up,and explains in more detail her experiences but I cant take anymore right now, maybe later, not one of Ricks best interviews I'm afraid, he seems a bit lost like me, I'm afraid I didn't get the message. sorry.

+John Smith Oh my goodness, the hands, right? I'm a kinesthetic talker who can't for the life of me talk if I'm sitting on my hands. The sky gazing was in part because the interview started at 1:30am my time and many of my words and my ability to formulate on-the-spot thoughts evidently expired at midnight. But if you can get past these visual distractions, you might find inspiration in the second half of the interview where Rick and I talk about my views on the application of spirituality and what I see of our rapidly changing world. Watching that much more of me might sound like a torturous prospect, though, so perhaps you would feel better just leaving it at the disappointment stage. If that's the case then let me just mention one last thing: In my book I do, in fact, talk about being at the Mount of Beatitudes with/in/as Jesus, and I talk about the how Jesus knew that the reverence others had for him in moments like that actually separated them from their own awareness of Christ within rather than helping them realize it was already a part of them. Thanks for your initial interest in my story and for your feedback. Love, Mary (Written with hands flailing exuberantly.)

Mary Reed Hi Mary,I did return to the interview where I left off, unfortunately once again, nothing seemed to come through for me so I had to leave it.
I'm glad others seem to get something,I prefer teachers getting to the point, firing from the hip, less superfluous talk, being practical.
I was waiting for what the Buddha and Jesus's experiences were, did you actually explain?
As you have this intimate connection, would you mind asking the Buddha and Jesus what their definition of Enlightenment is, and is life just happening or is there free will?
This has more interest to me than an historical event.
Seekers need to be free just as Jesus and the Buddha were, any practical guidance would be most welcome.
      Love, John

    • @maryreed5949
      @maryreed5949 8 років тому +3

+John Smith My relationship with Buddha and Jesus doesn't work in a Q&A manner. It also doesn't work within the confines of definitions and dualistic conceptualizations; on the contrary, the teachings all point to transcendence of such limitations. Given that, one definition of enlightenment might be the state one achieves when one joyfully transcends the need for a conceptual understanding of anything.
I will tell you from my own years of experience with Jesus, Buddha, God and the Divine realms that one could say there is both life just happening and free will. And there is also the influence of collective will and Divine intelligence. Ultimately it is all just concurrent levels of one experience; we are all of these things simultaneously. What is "just happening" is an exploration of our infinite possibilities of BEing, and through our free will we can choose to do that in countless ways. The collective will influences us as the greater mindstreams of which we are a part, and we influence those mindstreams in return. Divine intelligence could be considered the source that holds and responds to all of this with the purest force of love.
Another way to look at it is that we are each a unique conscious collection of varying patterns and functions of energies that give us our unique experiences, in the same way each body is a collection of varying patterns and functions of cells that provide individual physical experience. No two beings have the same collection of energies for their own conscious experience, but at the same time we are, in fact, part of all collective energies. We each come into the physical realm with different energy patterns to manifest a reflective experience, some patterns of which are tangled, some of which flow, and all of which interact with the greater collective and are at the highest level guided by Divine intelligence. We can make intellectual choices about how we direct our individual energies -- we can untangle or keep old patterns, expand or restrict our flow, speed up/slow down our vibrations, etc., and as we do this we're either in the resonant flow with Divine and the collective or we're not.
Having said all this, these are all just words. These are all words aiming to express conceptual understandings of things that function from, and originate in, the realm beyond words. So I don't expect them to sate your desire to firmly know what's what. Take everything I've said with a grain of salt, John. If something resonates, terrific. If not, no worries. This is all just an offering of love from my world to yours. Read this and then go do whatever fosters joy and happiness in your day. You'll likely get more enlightenment through that door than through any throughway I can open for you here. Love, Mary

    • @jonsmith4669
      @jonsmith4669 8 років тому

+Mary Reed Hi Mary, as you say its just words again, too many for me,I'm a very simple Being and I need simple explanations and knowledge. The art of communication is for the listener to grasp what is being said, too many words lose me I'm afraid.
I need to know how you communicate with Jesus and the Buddha when they cant possibly exist anymore as persons ? a person is an idea, not real. Surely they, as Enlightened Beings are no more, and at one with the Oneness? . The Buddha in Nirvana, the candles blown out.....
I dont believe in free will as there is not such a thing as a person, how can there be free will? nobody has a choice, there's no one one at home....
Now thats firing from the hip,but I didn't do it.....or did I? is there an I there anyway? who is speaking please?
