Totally agree with others that the product is vastly overpriced! But, and here is the big BUT for me: Have you ever tried shooting with your smartphone in -30C outdoor conditions? I learned my painful lesson recently when visiting near the arctic circle. Holding my phone and fiddling constantly with my thick gloves it was just a pain in the neck. Not to mention that the battery depleted also very fast in the freezing conditions. And BTW I have ditched my DSLR already a long time ago since my smartphone does a good job in taking excellent photos for my purpose. So, I purchased the ProGrip solely for my next trip to another -30C place to have the convenience of a sturdy grip, to keep my camera always ready for shooting without fiddling and the biggest bonus: the extra battery will allow for using my phone for a longer period of time. I am sure I can also benefit from the ProGrip when using it in temperate climates.
Do you like the fact that the photo does not take until you release the shutter button????? Any other camera take the photo when you push the shutter button, not when you release it. Thanks.
Hi there, great review. Could you share more details of the rode equipment you had attached to the case in the video please? I’ve seen other videos that complain about the fact that due to location of port it almost impossible to connect I mic so I’d appreciate knowing how you set up? Many thanks in advance.
Thanks for watching. That's the Rode Wireless Go (1st Gen). I was just showcasing the hot shoe mount in that shot so the microphone isn't connected. That's also just a receiver for the other square which you would use as a lavalier mic. In this scenario, you could use a small TRSS adapter to plug the receiver with the iPhone.
@@Sypnotix thank you, my understanding is that due to the position of the iPhone connection when in the Shiftcam makes this impossible to use, is that right given you have all the elements there to check? Many thanks
@@moodymichael Yes it isn't ideal. Using an L cable like this helps: amzn.to/3Jx9hsY In my case with the Rode Wireless Go, you can technically bypass connecting any cables to the iPhone by using the microphone on the hot shoe mount and plugging the receiver into an audio recorder like the H1N. That would effectively make it a wireless shotgun mic (to an extent).
Thanks for the great review! Do you know if the the new Shiftcam case for Iphone 13 pro max fits with an actual Iphone 13 Pro max- I read on an Amazon review that they are not fitting well? Thanks!
Sweet review, my s22 ultra plus cace is ginormous and heavy....so curious if this could handle (pun!) it. If doubles as a stand AND works well on the dash of a cae (?) and is a good charger (hope it can charge over usb C not just wirelessly, could be worth the buck fifty for me as a former slr shutterbug who now uses phonage for all pix and vids. IF you added one thing to your review........it's be HOW WELL DOES IT HOLD THE PHONE w/ w/o cases. especially megaphones (puns all day long)
ok its big so dont think that this is a slip in the pocket ... unless you wear overalls. I wish I had bought the smaller grip for my use ... it really needs the zoom and function change for it to be a game changer ... the extra battery life will be handy. I am concerned about the camera staying in the grip ... if you are a mobile phone lover then based on how you plan to use it it may be ok ... overpriced in my opinion and the build quality is a wait and see .... it's not a DSLR experience
How the heck are you supposed to fit that gargantuan thing in your pocket?? 🤣 Have you seen or heard about The Fjorden Grip? Would like to see a review in the future.
Most of the time it goes back into the carrying case or a backpack lol. I have not heard of the Fjorden. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. It looks interesting.
@@Sypnotix Thanks for replying. I am very intrigued by the Fjorden but I haven't seen any in-depth reviews for it. It doesn't add much bulk and would still fit into your pocket. It even has it's own camera app. Hopefully in the future you can get your hands on one for review.
Extremely overpriced for what you get. I tried to return it and was told all sales are final(took them 9 days to respond to my email). DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY
Great accessory but overpriced. $80 max. I've dropped my phone and this would be very useful. If your phone is the only camera which is the case nowadays, this makes sense.
@@sitoudien9816 i tryed this before.. But imagine having a 13 yo instagramer nephew asking for this $140 bucks grip and needs be expecifically this cuz "IT'S SPECIAL" (suicidal thoughts)

Is the cold shoe mount proprietary? I found a good deal on one that is missing it.
What if you want to connect a cable to an external micro or SSD for the iPhone 15 Pro?

QOTD: Do you use your smartphone for all your camera needs?
Yes
How to increase storage ssd for video, not relying on the memory on the phone?
Great accessory for smartphones..
It should include a zoom in and out toggle like DSLR cameras. The technology is there why don't they incorporate that in this product.
Here you go. UUrig PH 10. Costs less than $20. Makes shiftcam look stupid!

Very good. Will my new iPhone 14 Pro Max fit? If so it puts my big heavy Nixon back in the drawer
My 14 max pro fits in this with a massive heavy duty 360 case on.
