I’ve had good luck with Taiwan made tools. I know what you mean about using a cheap tool for a one time job. I needed a 9/16th flare nut crows foot for a specific job so I bought a complete set of standard and metric in the PT brand from Pep Boys. I’ve used these sets ONE time in over 20 years. They got the job done.
Wish more companies would relise 12 point is desirable. No companies support aviation. We need SAE 12 point sockets and wrenches. Lots of 12point hardware.
I agree. While I am not a mechanic, I do recognize the need/importance of 12pt, especially in 1/4” drive for A&P mechanics. I know Capri has 1/4” 12pt socket sets, which I stand behind based on use of their 6pt sockets sets I have in chrome
Thanks for making these great videos. I love hearing your advice it really makes me think about what tools I really need to get and what I can live without.
Glad to hear that! I’ve been buying and selling tools for years, and as such, I’ve learned what to look for in terms of brands, quality and reliability.
Yessir! Nothing like having the right tools to get the job done. For Diy’rs, it’s even more important if you’re performing a job whereby you’ve got limited experience. Having the right tools provide a level of confidence as well as reducing unnecessary risk of damaging the parts and/or breaking a tool.
Thank you! I apologize for jumping in on your subject matter, so I made it clear to my audience, that video was inspired by yours and I was merely following your lead. I’d love to collaborate with you, so if there’s any topics you feel I might be able to add insight to, just let me know ow
Couldn't agree more. I love my USA-made Craftsman Professional series combo wrenches, Craftsman stubbies and Capri Tools long box-ends. They all get the job done for far less than the tool-truck brands.
Try to get some F'erd leverage. Lol BTW I would like to see you get a VW bug carburetor off without the half moon wrench. That rear fan shroud facing nut is impossible.
I’ve done it without the half moon in the past. If you look back at some of my earlier videos, I had a ‘68 VW Super Beetle and had to refurbish the carb. Had to remove it on several occasions…wasn’t easy, but we got it done…

I love my old craftsman tools. I bought my entire set in 1986 before I bought my first truck Made in the USA.
