Heart-wrenching and beautiful work. Loved the documentary style. The filming and the editing were very nice too. Mention must also be made of the audio which must have been difficult to record in the notoriously loud College Street area. Thank you for making this. Are there any more in the works?
I'm 22, now .... but that's a documentary made me emotional. After watching this video I regret myself because I'm always prefer CCD,KFC . but this one change my mind completely. Only true BANGALI can feel that emotion. great work guyz. Thank you
Unconventional "adda places" in boipara cannot be complete without a visit to the Favorite Cabin...It along with its rich history is tucked away in a small dark corner of Surya Sen street, very near to the Paramount..:) ...Thanks for the nice documentary..Enjoyed thoroughly...
The emotions of these people and places are beautifully captured. Their struggle to keep these places alive and the contribution by making this documentary is admirable. Brilliant work.
Absolutely stunning coverage and sad to note the decline in preference for the original Bengali tastes. Gratitude from Canada. Planning to visit my favourite city soon and 'Boipara' is in my to do list. Looking forward to all these joints and their awesome food items.
I am really proud of my heritage.. Beyond the good, the bad and the ugly of us Bangalis.. We are the coolest people at heart and we have each other.. God bless Bengal..
Where do I even begin!! This is beyond brilliant and I guess that is something I knew right from the moment I came to know that you guys were planning something as avant-garde as giving the stereotypical representation of 'Boipara' on-screen a gastronomical twist.. Just as Kolkata is beyond rasogolla, Durga Pujo and Tanter sari, College Street too goes past its book kiosks and Coffee House and this documentary establishes that fact in a beautiful yet subtle way. Food has always been a prominent signifier of mass culture or rather of its ever- transforming course and in a time when these iconic food joints and its signature delicacies are nearing its extinction, this cinematic attempt is sure to re-capture the taste-buds of the devout foodies (I volunteer :p) who are still ready to sell their soul for a 'bite' of Putiram's radhabollobi or Paramount's daber sorbet.. :) Like seriously, I was constantly salivating while watching this and you two are not getting away that easily by giving only a visual treat and not a real one. *Mark my words* :P Anyways jokes apart, I absolutely loved how informative the docu is, and not just the usual blabbering.. I mean how many times have we been inside these places and bothered to know the tiny, amusing trivia that add up to their booming heritage.!!! When you hear Paramount and its role in being the seat of discusion for the Swadeshi Movement or Bhim Nag catering for Rabindranath's marriage- you can't help but get those nosalgia bites.. Loved how you balanced between interviews and shots of the food..The camera work and sound-mixing were great too. (that is coming from an utterly technically-challenged person like me, so it should mean a lot :p) .. Pats on your backs Rudra and Rik.. You guys are amazing :")
Woah ! Thank You so much !! :D We are glad to have explored a different side of 'boipara'. So it seems we have captured a fading entity, and may have reawakened and resurfaced it in the process. Public food hubs and restaurants were always a place where many gathered to discuss issues on public concerns. They played an integral part in the forming of public opinion. We learnt a lot in the process; all the background information and changes. We did not expect such an immediate impact. We have left a number of hungry, drooling satisfied viewers. That feels great. x) Thanks again ! :D
Mr Vloger wonderful vlog more of this an documentary.yes you are right this legendary food joint will give away but not to fast food like Burger or Chicken fries.. but because of Kolkata Biryiani culture. and doctors and businessmen are getting benifit out of change in culture.. see the core not there surface.
+Rudraneil Mukherjee You are Most Welcome..I have not returned back to India in 19 year's...I reside in Hamburg,Germany. So I relish your Video's..Keep on rolling these Authentic product's.. I remember my late mother through these edible item's. Last time I visited Kolkata was in 1992 and 1997..
It is a nice thought to deviate from the usual 'boi'-s of 'boipara' and hold before us some of the important pieces of College Street that are on the verge of extinction! Kudos to both of you Rudraneil and Rik. And you should know that God will not forgive you two for inciting this severe bout of gluttony within us! XD Dilkhusha's 'dimer devil' and Kalika's 'aloor chop' - I am practically drooling over my keyboards. :-P A message well told.
Haha ! Thank you so much ! :D These places must be kept alive. I think we should all play our part in doing so. We are more than delighted to induce gluttony within our viewers for good reasons. Well, what are you waiting for ? Go ahead and take a bite of 'boipara' now ! :D
Excellent editing and presentation. :) Could you also make a documentary about Calcutta food and the origins of Bengali cuisine in general?? I am more than confident your efforts would be fruitful
College Street is my favorite place. Only when I see Presidency College I feel bad, what could have been a world class institute is now degrading day by day.
Superb video.....And the production quality is beyond words........You have indeed covered a major part of the gastronomical adventures Kolkata has to offer.Just drop the fake English accent....Sounds terrible.....
Loved the documentary. Kolkata truly has a unique character and culture amongst all of India's metro cities.
Thank u.. Straight from the heart.. being the owner of Mouchak, couldn't have been more glad to see this! 😊

Thank You so much !!
We should all play our part in keeping these places alive. After all it has come to be part our own cultural heritage. :D
These food junctions were favourite haunt in our university days. A real nostalgic journey.
