Ehh. I LOVE Paper Mario, but the only one that I'd actually say has a good story is Super Paper Mario, and even then I'd never suggest that someone should play it for the story. Ya, I think people will probably enjoy the story, but it's not so good that its enough reason to play it even if you're not a big fan of the gameplay and humor.
SelTar bro what about TTYD or 64. TTYD is my fav game and although story isn’t the first thing that comes to mind I feel like other paper Mario games have good stories. I heard amazing things about spm’s story tho so I wanna try it out either way
@@moose5958 I love both those games but I dont think their stories are all that great. Their humor and dialogue are amazing, but I dont think the story themselves are noteworthy. Some of the individual chapters in TTYD have decent story, but not the overall plot.

Less backtracking, and while chapter 3 and 6 are super cool, they're best the first time playing. 64 was always my favourite Paper Mario game, but if you havent heard of it, you should check out Bug Fables. It's an indie game meant to replicate the Paper Mario style and improve on it. It might be my favourite Paper Mario game now, even though it's not technically a Paper Mario game at all.

Odyssey has so much to do and even once you 100%, it’s so much fun to just explore the different kingdoms and do crazy jumps and tricks. Oh, and just saying, play Sunshine but if you suck at video games, well, you’re going to hate Sunshine. It’s really difficult in some areas

Super Mario Sunshine will always be my personal favorite. I was 6 years old when it first came out and I still remember my mom buying it for me and playing it for the first time. 2002 was a great year for video games. You had sunshine, wind waker, time splitters 2, spider man, vice city, resident evil, mario party 4, etc….

Honestly 3d land was really good. It get’s over BS 3d controls controls with the 3D slider.However I basically remember nothing, because that game is the easiest Mario game except for maybe new super mario bros 2. The game has 16 worlds so there’s a lot of content in that game for $20
Yeah, 3D Land is a great low-stakes handheld title. It just doesn’t compare with the juggernauts on this list. Just like how Super Mario Land pales in comparison to SMB1, 2, 3, and World.
As someone who just finished Mario 64 recently somehow even though I have been playing the game since I was a little child, game isn't bad or "aged poorly", but it isn't a masterpiece either, you can tell they didn't focus that much on the worlds, the later ones specially just don't fit Mario's movement and are plain frustrating to navigate. Good game, it just isn't the timeless masterpiece some people say it to be, also Mario's movement is sick
Some aspects aged poorly like camera, or things like Mario falling off if you walk a pixel off a ledge, or some bossfights, but the game is pretty enjoyable nonetheless. But it’s absolutely not “the pinnacle of 3D platforming that no game ever has surpassed” like I’ve heard people say, and I’m not even exaggerating, I’ve read people say exactly that.
Galaxy 2 don't really deserve nothing. It's a game with no soul. Horrible hub, horrible world map, lazy story and ost compared to the first one. Level design is just the same as the first one.
Actually the reason Mario can breath in space is because of Luna's magic... I think... Because Mario doesn't even meet luma until after he's already in space.
That’s not the case as in Galaxy 1 Luma doesn’t join you until your already in space and in Galaxy 2 Luma leaves Mario at the end. Also, if we look at Odyssey Mario can breath in space on his own. So yeah definitely not because of Luma’s magic.

You are definitely right about the annoying amount of swimming levels in this game. And yes it is ironic that in spite of being the tropical island theme, Super Mario Sunshine has the least amount of swimming of all 3D Mario entries. I know for sure that the Galaxy games and Odyssey also have more swimming in it than Super Mario Sunshine.
Galaxy and Odyssey are the best. Galaxy mainly in its mood and tone, plus the level design is great. Odyssey in its ability to make moving Mario around fun, plus it’s so fun to look around every corner for moons

I’ve made the same point about Odyssey being the true successor to Sunshine before, so I was happy to hear you mention it. I feel like they had the blue coins from Sunshine in mind when they decided on how to implement moons in Odyssey- a larger number of collectibles that require creative exploration of the worlds.
Mario Sunshine is such a good game, it’s underrated and deserves better because it does have a lot of hate. I know it has a lot of love too though thankfully. It was always my favourite childhood game and I grew up with it. I still think galaxy and Mario 64 are fun and good as well, especially galaxy 2 omg so good. But there is something about sunshine, that game is a beautiful fun masterpiece that doesn’t deserve the hate in my opinion

I absolutely LOVE 64 and I've been playing it about 15 years. I agree with you on the last levels being super punishing. Tick tock clock could've been the best level in the game if they got rid of the 100 coin star in that level.

I hate that Mario 64 kicks you out of the level because they hardly change it. The next to 3D Mario games they change the level design when you enter it so it makes it more entertaining.
I clicked on this to have something to watch before bed, not thinking I’d finish it, but you surprised me! Definitely got a wrap on how to be entertaining throughout the video with the same style but different jokes, which most people can’t pull off. Definitely have some different opinions which is great because it’s awesome to hear why people like the other ones. I love Galaxy and honestly you might’ve convinced me to pick up Galaxy 2. Hey uhh, there's this game I just found. Super underground stuff. I found it when looking at a bunch of old japanese nes games. It has a pretty weird title, but I'm pretty sure it's called mario? Not many people have heard of him though.
Super 64: I don't like the controls. Some stars come off as a little too cryptic like the Bomb field one where you gotta use the wing cap to fly through some coins up above where you can't see them.

Mood! I think the production value of Odyssey alone makes it 'objectively' the best (the same way I think BotW is arguably the best Zelda game) But just with BotW I don't really like sandbox games. I enjoyed the simple premise of Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2 just had the best gameplay and depth. I don't mind overly linear levels, but I don't like the 2.5D formula of "platform but don't get hit" nor do I care for Odyssey's "if you want to 100% you need to use random hints and rumble features"
Honestly I’m not sure if odyssey is even objectively the best. I feel like people are way too quick to say that big equals better. I respect odyssey’s ambition, but for a 3D platformer there really wasn’t much...platforming. Especially compared to the galaxy games. Galaxy 2 had some of the best platforming in the industry and odyssey is just mostly traversal with how it plays. Like I seriously don’t think odyssey is as replayable as galaxy 1 and 2 since most of the challenge comes from finding the moons, which is fun the first time round but would you rather REVISIT scavenger hunts ground pounding things or doing silly mini games like trace walking or using a dog to dig stuff up or would you say running up walls with a dash pepper and skipping across a lava lake with a cloud power up would be more fun to relive? I’m going to go with the latter, though I guess I can still see the appeal of a more relaxed and set back experience. Not trying to undersell odyssey’s best moons. The best moons are the ones that involve platform challenges but a lot of them just felt so disconnected from the rest of the worlds, like they were scrapped galaxy levels or something. It’s a shame too, since mario’s move set is easily the best it’s ever been in odyssey and yet it isn’t really put to the test enough imo.
My top tiers have to go to the galaxy games. Both of em. Then I'd slap 3D World because its probably the best designed game on 3ds. Seriously, the graphics are phenomenal. I spent a lot of time playing it.
So refreshing to hear. 64 was the first 3d game, it was a huge innovation. It’s legacy cannot be denied. None if this make it the best. It was the best at it’s time, but hardware and software have come so far, and have such better graphics, controls, frames ect.

Yeah, I heard some guy comparing Mario 3D All Stars to the retroactive microtransactions in Crash Team Racing and I'm like... Are you high? Like, say what you want about this collection, but they're selling you exactly what's advertised: a collection of 3 old Mario games. They're not taking your money first and ruining stuff later.

The second game has some severely overlooked masterful tracks. The world map themes, starship mario and puzzle plank to name a few. And of course I can’t forget cloudy court galaxy.
It hurt me also, but I can't deny its flaws.

You are definitely right about the annoying amount of swimming levels in this game. And yes it is ironic that in spite of being the tropical island theme, Super Mario Sunshine has the least amount of swimming of all 3D Mario entries. I know for sure that the Galaxy games and Odyssey also have more swimming in it than Super Mario Sunshine.

Galaxy and Odyssey are the best. Galaxy mainly in its mood and tone, plus the level design is great. Odyssey in its ability to make moving Mario around fun, plus it’s so fun to look around every corner for moons

I’ve made the same point about Odyssey being the true successor to Sunshine before, so I was happy to hear you mention it. I feel like they had the blue coins from Sunshine in mind when they decided on how to implement moons in Odyssey- a larger number of collectibles that require creative exploration of the worlds.

Mario Sunshine is such a good game, it’s underrated and deserves better because it does have a lot of hate. I know it has a lot of love too though thankfully. It was always my favourite childhood game and I grew up with it. I still think galaxy and Mario 64 are fun and good as well, especially galaxy 2 omg so good. But there is something about sunshine, that game is a beautiful fun masterpiece that doesn’t deserve the hate in my opinion

I hate that Mario 64 kicks you out of the level because they hardly change it. The next to 3D Mario games they change the level design when you enter it so it makes it more entertaining.

I clicked on this to have something to watch before bed, not thinking I’d finish it, but you surprised me! Definitely got a wrap on how to be entertaining throughout the video with the same style but different jokes, which most people can’t pull off. Definitely have some different opinions which is great because it’s awesome to hear why people like the other ones. I love Galaxy and honestly you might’ve convinced me to pick up Galaxy 2. All in all 11/10, well deserved sub my man

Mood! I think the production value of Odyssey alone makes it 'objectively' the best (the same way I think BotW is arguably the best Zelda game) But just with BotW I don't really like sandbox games. I enjoyed the simple premise of Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2 just had the best gameplay and depth. I don't mind overly linear levels, but I don't like the 2.5D formula of "platform but don't get hit" nor do I care for Odyssey's "if you want to 100% you need to use random hints and rumble features"
Honestly I’m not sure if odyssey is even objectively the best. I feel like people are way too quick to say that big equals better. I respect odyssey’s ambition, but for a 3D platformer there really wasn’t much...platforming. Especially compared to the galaxy games. Galaxy 2 had some of the best platforming in the industry and odyssey is just mostly traversal with how it plays. Like I seriously don’t think odyssey is as replayable as galaxy 1 and 2 since most of the challenge comes from finding the moons, which is fun the first time round but would you rather REVISIT scavenger hunts ground pounding things or doing silly mini games like trace walking or using a dog to dig stuff up or would you say running up walls with a dash pepper and skipping across a lava lake with a cloud power up would be more fun to relive? I’m going to go with the latter, though I guess I can still see the appeal of a more relaxed and set back experience.
Not trying to undersell odyssey’s best moons. The best moons are the ones that involve platform challenges but a lot of them just felt so disconnected from the rest of the worlds, like they were scrapped galaxy levels or something.
It’s a shame too, since mario’s move set is easily the best it’s ever been in odyssey and yet it isn’t really put to the test enough imo.

My top tiers have to go to the galaxy games. Both of em. Then I'd slap 3D World because its probably the best designed game on 3ds. Seriously, the graphics are phenomenal. I spent a lot of time playing it.

So refreshing to hear. 64 was the first 3d game, it was a huge innovation. It’s legacy cannot be denied. None if this make it the best. It was the best at it’s time, but hardware and software have come so far, and have such better graphics, controls, frames ect.
