I'm so glad you guys weren't afraid to leave Chell's timeout in the vlog. That's my kind of REAL family vlog. Showing the great and not so great moments of parenting. Thank you for being so real. This is why I stay subscribed; all for your rawness.

Is this Chell’s way of telling her siblings she loves them, by sneezing on them? First baby Atlas, then her big fur-sister Penny 😂

Not a know it all here but I raised two boys myself AND over 70 foster sons, many that are still in my life. I used time out and with it I bought a timer that is a big square. When you set it it turns red and as the time wears down it goes back to black. A very good visual for children. (I also worked 20 years in special education)

My husband got snipped and said it wasn't painful (except the need for numbing). He said that it took a couple of days, was a little bruised, but he was up and moving around, etc; without issue. Just no heavy lifting!

I have never in all my life seen a poopy diaper changed while the kid was standing up. Most skilled parent award goes to Kristen Williams!! 🏅
Discipline is good for all of us, no matter how old we are! But it’s best to start them young. You’ll be glad you did when she’s a teenager. 😄 Good job Corey!! 🎖

    • @whipfive8232
      @whipfive8232 6 років тому +2

Tracy Worby , when kids get bigger it can be much easier to change diapers with them standing up, especially poopy diapers. I do it with my grandsons all the time.

I help out with the twos in church and that's how I change their poopy diapers. Even when I was a teenager and baby sitting a 2 year old, that's how I did it then too. It's always been easier for me than having them lay down. When I was a teenager, that 2
Year old would not sit still for anything so I pretended I was a cop and he was a robber and he put his hands against the wall and I frisked him (changed his diaper) and as soon as he was clean, I'd be like ok sir, you seem to be clean, you may go. :-P

If putting in lots of sounds and music and titles and stuff prolongs the editing process too much to be able to do you parental duties, then by all means just go back to putting up whatever you've filmed with the minimal amount of editing needed. Your jobs as parents come first. We don't necessarily need fancy shots and stuff. We just want to get a peek into your day.

It was absolutely special! What a beautiful Father’s Day for the four wonderful men in Kristen and Grangie’s life! Oh, my heart hurt when you had to put Chell in time out. I know it hurt you as much as her, but she does need to understand boundaries and you did this very well. I especially loved the hug at the end. Well done! Watching Atlas is so much fun. He is a very alert little guy. I can’t speak for everyone, but I don’t expect each video to be highly produced. You are the artist. I trust you to make these decisions and I loved today’s video as much as all the others this week. Excuse me, Atlas’s little smile was the VERY BEST! Love and hugs to you all. ❤️💕❤️

That’s so lovely that Chell and Atlas have so many grandparents and great-grandparents. All through my life I just had my two grandmas (only one still here now), both granddads died many years before I was born. But I love hearing stories about them both, and my great-grandparents.

Good job with the “Time Out”. Don’t feel bad. You’re doing good. Be consistent. And don’t explain over and over. Even if she gets upset, she’ll process what you are trying to get her to understand. Explain why she’s in time out, then let her think, then explain once more when time is up. It’s consequences, not punishment. You are great parents.

Good job on disciplining Chell. Y'all are good parents. A timer might help as she gets older. Like an hourglass. It helps her to see how long she has to be in time out. This one was easy with her, but ones in the future probably won't be.
As far as the vasectomy goes, invest in some ice packs. When my husband had his we needed ice packs. Also invest in condoms if you don't already have some, as it takes a while for it to take effect. Think water still left in a hose after it is turned off at the faucet. Many a child has been conceived because someone thought it was safe when it wasn't.

hey, i would like to say something. i'm a 23 year old guy that moved from Belgium to Sweden recently. (it might have been for a girl, but we're still just friends)
i have been watching your videos for a long time cory, but i have to say these videeos i enjoy the most now :)
i often get really down because i don't know where i'm heading or i'm lonely cause i want to be in a relationship (i've never been in one),
and i get worried that i might end up alone and die alone and all of that :/
but these video's bring me so much joy, and laughter but most importantly.. hope. everytime i see this family my heart just grows and it tells me that one day i will find this happiness aswell.
so thank you all for giving me this hope and joy of a good future.

This may be off topic, but when we got our tomcat, Poindexter Bleu, as a kitten we often utilized the terms snip snip and finger scissor movements when we were talking about neutering him. Believe me Poindexter kept giving us the most menacing look afterwards.

WOW... you are ALL so cute. At first the focus was on Chell and Atlas, and they were sweet and beautiful. But then I could not help but notice how beautiful both parents are, ... in the physical body they have always been in and in their roles. They are wonderful parents, and their love and attitudes shine forth as such beauty. It's no wonder that both children smile in full confidence that they are LOVED and will be cared for ALWAYS. It is a privilege to be invited in to watch. You make my day, every day you are there. We are all blessed to have you, The Family Roberts, in our lives!

I had it done while deployed with the Navy. We were off the coast of Turkey. 2 guys and my self flew over to the aircraft carrier Kennedy and I had it done in their dispensary. Took 30 min. They give you a local and then a small incision. ( you can do it in a DR's office). Afterwards I was given a couple valuims otherwise I was walking fine.

I love your family vlogs/videos. It’s awesome that your children have 2 great grandpas in their life and got to spend time with them and you got to video it. My daughter is named after her great grandpa who passed at the age of 92 7 years before she was born. Father’s Day has been hard this year because my Dad passed away in February. So this was his first Father’s Day reunited with Mom and our brother Ricky who died at the age of 5. My husband and I both lost our last living parent this year. His mother passed in April.

    Perfect just as is.
Did I miss a vlog? Because somewhere in the last day or so Chell hit a milestone. She is connecting things together. The look on her face during "time out" was totally a learning moment. Did anyone else see that? Then to top it all off she's thinking before answering. "I don't know" !!? Whoa! My mind is blown. And she does dishes! I love this girl!
Cory, my husband got "clipped" years ago. He didn't have too bad a time of it. You just have to do as you're told. Keep frozen peas on hand to put on ... eh... the surgery area. Don't let it get painful. Husband says its not that bad, just you know you are sore. The reward is worth the expense and discomfort.

  • @heatherd.9390
    @heatherd.9390 6 років тому

This may be my all time favorite vlog. I LOVED seeing you all cuddled up with the kids in your bed, Chell washing Atlas' toes, etc. I must say I think you handled her time out perfectly. Discipline does not have to be mean or loud or involve tears, etc. It needs to be done, explained, followed-through with and end with another explanation of what it was for and a hug so they know you still love them. It warmed my heart to see Chell look up into Cory's eyes and then give him a huge smile. She really is a beautiful little girl inside and out.
As for potty training the biggest tip I can give you is wait until she gives you fairly consistent interest in it and once you start it, follow-through. I bet that when she starts to show you signs of being ready... you'll know when you see it... that she will figure it out. Keep in mind that night tiime readiness is not always the same as daytime. She may need a Pull-Up at night even once she masters the day. It's just different. My daughter was still having consistent nighttime 'accidents' even once she started school! Anyways, you guys will know when she's ready and once she's ready just do it. She'll catch on quickly once she's 'there'.
I never had to deal with a pacifier because my daughter would NOT take one, or a bottle, so I was the feeder and the pacifier. She was a thumb sucker, however, but once she was a bit older than Chell, I just explained to her that there were germs (and that germs were tiny bugs) on her hands and every time she sucked her thumbs (she was ambidextrous, lol), and that she was basically eating them and she had to stop. She tried to stop and mostly did except for the times when she was asleep, etc. Then her paediatrician told her the same thing and 'poof' overnight she quit all together. It was wild! As for not taking a bottle, she was on a sippy cup very young (old enough to do it clearly). If memory serves, she was about 5 months old.
As a single mom, I didn't have to deal with vasectomy issues either. However, I did work in healthcare for many years and know that it is just a procedure done in your family doctor's office. I don't know about cost either, because we are in Canada. I can say that both of my brothers have had it done and they are both WIMPS!!! I know they used the old bag of frozen peas for pain and swelling and were off their feet for a day or two. It''s really not a big deal. You can manage just fine, Cory.
Thank you for sharing such a lovely video. You are both just so happy, calm and... content looking and it warms my heart! It sounds and looks like the perfect Father's Day was had. This video was beautiful!

Just a hint...don’t talk her through the time outs. Set clear rules before the time out. Let her know the consequences if those rules are broken. (ie; time out). Once she’s in time out, she needs to be told once, why she’s there, and that’s it. Anything else is giving attention to the offense, and sometimes attention, good or bad, is what they want. Agreeing with those that say give her a visual timer to help her grasp the amount of time. When time out is over, she needs to be reminded why she was there, then be done with it. I don’t claim to be perfect at this parenting thing, but 26 years later, I’ve raised some pretty respectable kids. I’ve always believed in say what you mean and mean what you say. When people would see how my kids behaved they assumed that I “tanned their hides”. Never laid a hand on them...I just followed through and had a husband who backed me up.

Brenda72 you pointed out what I was going to point out. May I add though, that Chell needs a designated Timeout spot so she knows that when you put her there, she is being disciplined. I called it the naughty spot with a timer where they could see it. After timeout was over I reminded them what they did wrong and discussed how to Handel the situation in the future. That teaches them problem solving skills.

Too many suggestions...This was a first time out? Right? These parents did just the right thing. She's adjusting to little brother.

esockell It was just an explanation of how to do time outs. Better to be detailed than not. I understand she’s adjusting. I also understand how kids will test boundaries at that age.

As a teacher and mom it’s difficult to balance but I do it like this too.
At the school for our 3-5 year old classes we ask them why do they think they are on time out (or if they hurt someone’s feelings, hit etc. Or maybe they are the one that got hurt.) we give them the tools to use their big strong voices and solve their problems and we step in if need too of course.
Keeping it short and simple because The more we talk and talk it’ll just go in one ear and out the other.

I can’t express enough how adorable your family is!! Be careful though, my son (first born) started acting up more when his sister was born and timeouts became more frequent. He’s a little over two now and his tantrums are so easily avoided. It gets easier every day and life with Irish twins is the best. Happy late Father’s Day Corey, and happy every day family time!

By the way, now I'm no parent, but the way you dealt with Chell in time-out seemed perfect Cory - calm tone of voice, kneeling down to her level and straight to the point. You know when you were saying at the end of your "The Fastest Girl in the World" video how you just want to be the best father to your kids? Well you are an AWESOME father - you're such an awesome guy with so many cool traits and a super fun personality. You're doing a great job bro :)

Well, today was the 1st time ever I went "awwwww, bless!" while watching these (and I've been watching more or less since the 1st mean kitty song, and certainly almost every vlog since the move to Alaska)... the way Chell in trouble stood there, with that little face.... darnit, you broke me after all.

For a min there when I saw Chell time out it brought me back to my childhood and it reminds me so much of how grateful I am that my parents were able to discipline me and my siblings at a young age and it help, without it we would be something worse. So yall are great parents. 😍

I've been watching a lot of Supernanny and when in the show kids are put on a timeout, they absolutely throw a fit like little monsters. Of course they'd already been showing that side even before that. But Chell here is just standing in the corner like a champ and not escape the very first second. You guys really are good parents. Give out a lot of loving but also know when to set the healthy limits. Keep doing what you do, you're doing great.

I looovvved my great grandpa. He had so many stories and sang to us even when he got sick. All I wanted to do is spend time with him. So much time that I ended up being one of the only people experiencing his last moments. So when he left I got a tattoo in memory of him. Chelly belly is so lucky to have two!

You did the right thing with Chell. She's at that critical age where she will test you to see what it takes to get her way. You must stay firm with no's so that she knows that no means no. As soon as you turn a no into a yes, she will learn that and continue doing what she has learned works.
That said, you did really good with your first time out. You were firm, but not harsh, and you made sure she was aware of what she did wrong, and affirmed your love for her afterwards. Very well done.

Lovely vlog. Your extended family is wonderful. So much love to share. Chell in time out was adorable. Well done for the calm and assertive yet tender way you dealt with her ‘transgression’. She’s so smart and she’ll learn quickly where the boundaries are. Happy Fathers Day Cory, Grark, Grandpa Bill and Grandpa Keith.

Done on a Friday afternoon. Went home lay on the couch with an ice pack playing video games. He said it was only "uncomfortable" on Friday and into Saturday Morning. But Saturday evening he was walking around. By Sunday we were at the beach walking on the shore line. (Couldnt go in the water due to stitches). But never heard any complaining. Went back to work Monday Morning.

I'm so glad that Chell and Atlas have their grandparents.
By the time I was old enough to have an intelligent conversation with my grandparents they unfortunately had dementia or Alzheimer's or they had past away. I'm grateful I did know them thru my parents but I never really got to hear their opinions or seek their advice myself. It hurts at times. All that to say it does my heart good to see your kids with their grand parents. It's such a blessing. Happy Belated Fathers Day! :-)
