I do actually listened to a sample of SSR. I almost bought it. However, I didn't like it and realized that I'm sensitive to treble. I'm upgrading my KZ ZSN Pro's and will go with SSP. Thanks on having me realized this Edit: I do have an LG v40 with downloaded .flac songs in it.

I can hear more details, clarity, as well as cleanliness to .flac files. Its definitely more comfortable too. from SSR to SSP, for me I prefer the SSP. I don't know if I'm a basshead person haha. But SSR for me is fatiguing in my ear to be honest. I'm no audio expert but I personally prefer SSP
I don't own the SSR, so cannot compare...but I like the SSP as they sound right out of the box. It has a positive sound signature with just enough bass...not too much...and bass sounds very tight non bleeding. They give me a good mood, so I'm happy
I feel as though companies are bringing out IEM's just to bring out a new IEM. What's the point when you're basically talking the same price point, etc.? I love my SSR's. Why would I consider another version? Good review Dave. Glad to see you are starting to do reviews again. Get well.
Thank you for the well wishes and kind words. The audiophile community had been asking for awhile for an alternative to the SSR, that had more bass and a more laid back top end. I do think that Moondrop missed the mark slightly but I do see where they were intending. I agree though that a lot of IEM alternatives are just to bring out another option at same price that doesn't provide any significant difference to jumpstart sales; I dont believe this occasion to be that way.
I keep coming across some of your older videos haha. After having some rather bad luck with qc, I was trying to take a step back and rethink some things. I realized that I love my moondrop quarks despite their price so that's how I ended up researching the SSR and SSP. I know you more recently recommended the Tin T2 over the SSR first of all, so I guess some of this stuff is out of date anyways. But either way, the SSP seems like it would be more to my preference but the SSR is so far out of my comfort zone tuning wise that I almost want to try it. Idk. Trying not to make any stupid decisions so we will see where I end up. I have Tripowin Mele and they are fantastic besides for the filters going bad in less than 2 weeks and you need to buy extras. I am using little pieces of coffee filters are placeholder but it changed the sound a lot. Then I tried the moondrop aria but they literally broke in a day so I returned them. With that bad of luck I didn't even bother getting a replacement.

Going to be honest, I wound up springing for the SSP over the SSR almost entirely on the basis of the blue-and-gold deco. For my ears there’s plenty of detail-I’m using AzlaSedna XELASTECs and I feel like I’m picking up things I wasn’t with, say, the Tin T2+. Also the SSP has better art on the box. Maybe I’ll get the other sister in the new year and compare them directly.
Having SSR for a couple of months I didn't lfind it as too bright! SSR just fits my taste FAAEAL Hibiscus cable is good for it and just play for the tips...SSR over SSP for me😊

Recently my Moondrop Quarks stopped working from one side. I really liked him. So, based on this, what of the two earphones on this videos is a natural evolution for the Quarks?
I'd say the SSP is probably the closest to the Quarks. But it's been a very, very long time since I reviewed all of them and I haven't listened to them much, if at all, since.
I buy SSP...becoz of the finished design..you said they are very identical and I may find myself to a most common user side and not as an audiophile...I am really confused I want natural sounding...please help me choose
I recommend the SSR as it sounds more open and natural where the SSP is a more warm and thick, not as open. But the SSP is still a good IEM at the price. I look forward to hearing your impressions. Natural sounding to me is what I hear in the real world being replicated in the gear I am listening to; does it take me closer to thinking I'm listening live or does it sound artificial?
I havent heard either in a long time but if memory serves me correctly; SSP has better control in the bass but not as much impact, mids are more forward and full but can be a bit to aggressive for some and treble is more extended and slightly brighter.
Thanks for the kind words. BL-03 has a brighter signature, upper mids and lower treble are more accentuated and the tone has a metallic tinge to it in comparison. The bass is similar on both. The Blon has a slightly larger stage and does better with depth and layering. Detail retrieval is a tad better on the Blon but resolution is better on the SSP.
Hi, i'm a newbie and want to upgrade from my Moondrop Spaceship. my budget is $100 and here is some of my candidates: 1. Moondrop Aria 2. Moondrop SSP 3. HZsound Mirror Heart 4. Tanchjim Ola I love the sound characteristic from Moondrop, and it's neutral tuning with their spaceship and the clarity of vocals because i listen to j-pop music with strong woman vocal such as Yoasobi, Tuyu, and Sangatsu no Phantasia and some chill lo-fi with vocals such as Asmi and Kojikoji. But sometimes i also listen to (soft) edm such as Honeycomebear and Kirara Magic. I'm searching for all-rounder here, warm bass and clear vocal. is there any suggestion or enlightment on which earphone to upgrade? or even another recommendation would be great!
Excellent video mate! I'm on the fence between the SSP, SSR, Tripowin TC01, Blon 03, and Tin T2 Plus. What would your recommendation be, considering I would prefer a fun, warm sound signature, without too much loss in clarity and mids? I mostly listen to Country, Classical, Pop genres. I have no issues tinkering the EQ to fit my requirements. Infact, I always do that, irrespective of the device the music is playing on.

I got the SSP for a week and sold it, that is one week less than the SSR lol (I sold SSR after 2 weeks). It didn't have the improvement I was looking for and I think at this point it's better to start saving up and go with the big boys instead of bothering with anything at this price range for me.. The mids are way more forward on the SSR and are the focal point of the presentation. But the SSR has moments of sibilance and harshness in the upper mids. The treble is boosted in the upper region and doesn't sound as natural and realistic. The T2 has a more defined and refined soundstage with a slight advantage in imaging.

Yes I recommended the SSP over the TC-01 and CA16. My recommendations for understanding $50 are Moondrop SSR, Jade Audio EA1 and EA3.

Jade Audio EA1 has more defined bass and a smoother upper mid/treble region. The soundstage of the EA1 is deeper and more layered.

Between the two, I'd take the SSR for that task. But I'd take the Tin Hifi T2 over both.

Aria is more refined and defined but has more treble energy.
How does it compare to the KBEAR Lark?
The Lark has more defined bass and more controlled upper mids shout but isn't as detailed and lacks the tone and timbre of the SSP.

SSR or Spaceship?
SSR is the better detailed, resolving, tone and timbre but doesn't have as much bass impact.
