    Thank you thank you thank you thank you i sat here and looked at your granite styled pot and three other videos with similar pots and I have one that looks just like it that I picked up from the local thrift store and had no idea was it a canning pot or just a huge pot I can make greens in (fairly new at cooking and still learning) but the first 20 seconds of your video cleared that up for me. Thank you again.

    Just wanted to say thank you. About a month ago I sent you a message using Facebook (which I don't know how to use and just now got back to looking at your response) and you were so kind to answer my question about canning okra. Your response spelled it out for me and I so appreciate you taking the time to give me proper guidance.

      You're welcome! I'm glad it helped. That's my goal. To help people understand more about canning so they get the real benefit of it.

    I used my Fresh Tech canner last weekend - it was fantastic! It heated up quickly and was so easy to use! Thanks for doing a review - I wouldn't have known about this product otherwise!

    I've been watching your canning videos because there's a ton of blackberries growing wild everywhere here. I've been picking every other day and freezing them, but my freezer is now full of blackberries and want to can some eventually too. I saw a 21 quart water bath canning kit, but wonder if I should get a smaller one. I also grow my own tomatoes and want to can some for in the winter.

    I like your videos I'am starting to do canning if you do it on a pot cause I have one like the one you have with the glass top how long do I let them boiled and how long do I let them sit before I opened the top thank you so much

      I'm so glad you are starting to do some canning. Starting with approved recipes that you process in boiling water is the best way to begin. Each recipe will say how many minutes to process whatever you are making. Remember, after you put the jars in the water you don't start timing them until the water is boiling. When the correct amount of minutes has passed you turn it off then you take the top off the pot and let it sit for five minutes before you take the jars out of the water. Waiting the five minutes helps prevent the product from spurting out of the jars. I'll be interested to hear about your successes! Thanks for watching.

    Can I use my steamer basket as a rack to keep the jars off the bottom of the pot?

    • @2leelouCreates
      @2leelouCreates  3 роки тому +1

      You bet you can. You can even use rings from lids. Be sure to have them with the top side up so the jars don't sit in them but on top of them. Just cover the bottom with them and they work great!

    Hi 2leelou,
    Hope you are feeling better these days and the grief of losing your Mom is easing off a bit, although will always be with us as I know I still miss my Mom who passed 6 years ago, but with time it does get a bit easier. I believe the first 2 years are the hardest, at least they were for me.
    I need your canning advice regarding purchasing the 21.5 quart Granitware water bath canner like you displayed in this video, but can you please advise reply since I am purchasing this as a gift for a younger gal ready to learn about canning in general.....do you find that using that specific Granitware water bath canner on the stove, that condensation forms under the lid and drips down the Granitware water bath canner, and pools on your stove?
    I hope you can answer soon 2leelou, and thank you for your honest advice which I really appreciate and treasure, and hugs & blessings to you and yours dear friend!

      Yes, I know exactly what you mean. That happens especially when using taller jars like quarts. It drove me nuts. That's when I started using a really tall turkey fryer for my tall jars. Any boil water canner will have the same problem unless it's tall enough to accommodate about 5 or 6 inches above the water level over the jars. The electric Fresh Tec Ball boil water canner is the only thing I've found (other than a turkey fryer) that doesn't have that problem. The lip of the lid sits inside the edge of the pot and it also comes with a defuser that breaks the bubbles into smaller ones so they don't burst big enough to splash on the lid. That makes me think that if when using one of the traditional Granitware type canners a good idea might be to place one of the trivet type racks that usually are used in a pressure canner on top of the jars. That might make a big difference. Anyway, I hope that helps.

      Thanks so much for your reply 2leelou, and I will purchase and try the canner rack on top from my 21.5 All American Pressure Canner and see if that helps, if not I will buy your suggestion of the Fresh Tec Ball boil water canner. Last time I looked BB&B had it for about $130.00.
      Today it is a quiet day here so far, so I made a Pernil yesterday to enjoy today. In case you are unfamiliar with what a Pernil is it is a Puerto Rican pork shoulder roast.
      I pulled it last night with 2 bear claw implements to have pulled pork sandwiches on toasted onion buns.
      I also made home made coleslaw & potato salad as sides, and used the Ball canning recipe book to make a delicious tangy hot BBQ sauce which I opened last night to taste, and it is delicious.
      I am going to look at your latest gift to youtube for your salsa recipe and that will be another canning adventure for me.
      Last week I followed your advice again and made the mushroom wedges.
      I boiled water and I pressure canned those mushrooms with the AA.
      Also last week I made your Chicken soup broth using a freshly killed chicken. (Boy those places really do stink, but I toured it and it is clean and USDA approved with current approval and licenses right in front so you can read them clearly, so those fresh killed chickens are really tasty and fresh:).
      Today's prayer is May God keep us all wrapped safely in his healing hands, and protect us always!
      Again, sending you cyber hugs, prayers, and hope you and yours will have a best safe fun filled Happy 4th of July holiday today!............Enjoy dear friend , and also including blessings to go along with those prayers:).

    Those Granite-Ware have an awful design flaw. The pot lip is rounded. When you pour out any liquid, it will leak down the pot an onto your counter top. It causes an absolute mess every time. There is just no way to incline the pot to keep the fluid from leaking on your counter top.

    So can I use a non stick pot with rack for water bath canner?

    • @2leelouCreates
      @2leelouCreates  2 роки тому

      Yes. As long as it's tall enough that the water will cover the jars by an inch or two.
