This music is Timeless... I heard Whitney's version before I knew that it was originally recorded by the Isley Brothers Whitney's version is my favorite.. the saxophones are smooth amazing voice just send me on an entirely different journey.
I almost wish she sang like this more often. Sometimes it’s nice to hear singers to sing more laid back. Don’t get me wrong, I admire the power and soul to Whitney’s big songs, but I also love to listen to the soft and mellow ones.

5 years later replying to your comment: SO SO SO AGREE with you!! Honestly, I get tired of the hard core Celine Dion type ballads where singers are just belting their guts out. Now and then ok, but there's just no subtlety to it. Maybe producers drove this. There is a famous story about Foster making Celine hit the high note in All By Myself, OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. I don't even think it makes the song but apparently Foster thought it did. Then came the generation of Kelly Clarkson singers: again, just belting the crap out of songs. That's why I really appreciate your comment! I only just discovered this WH song for the first time and I love it!

Her tone is so beautiful, she really didn't have to hit any spectacular notes. The highs and runs made her divine.
