I hadn't watched the original adaptation so I can't say about that much but personally I enjoyed this remake it was decent ig But yeah story like this deserves great animation to present the world and story in a better way just like frieren

4:12 agreed, the plot sometimes seems to be repeating and the holo and Lawrence dynamic goes back to square 1
