I purchased this phone myself, without any sponsorship from Samsung, as a replacement for my old Samsung A72. Unfortunately, it hasn't met my expectations. For those interested in this phone or considering buying it, I must say it's a decent device with good performance and a really nice design. However, if you're used to phones with better screens, you'll definitely notice the annoying difference.

We have experienced the same issue that the screen looks washed out and this was not expected from Samsung 😑
Totally agree. I had to return this phone because of the screen. I didn't expect this from Samsung. If those sponsored UA-camrs were telling the truth about devices in the first place, I wouldn't have ordered this phone. But when you're sponsored, you can't say that something is wrong.
@@ElectronicsComputers the same happened to the A15 4g all the youtubers we're saying it's amazing and doesn't have issues i got the phone after 11 days i returned it first the speaker used is super cheap it's the worst speaker in a samsung phone ever the phone wifi signal was so bad i had to stand close to the wifi router also the software was laggy and it had animations issues every time i exit from apps and come back the screen was decent except bezels it was horrible last year i also got A14 5g 2 times actually and had to return them for overheating and battery issues plus horrible screen and camera after that i decided to get A34 the performance was decent for gaming but under normal usage i faced overheating up to the point that when i was sleeping the phone almost exploded just because of horrible cooling and and heat from the horrible software optimization basically 2 years with no improvement even the A25 A35 A55 have strong cons like for the A25 the battery drains super fast and the cpu is always overheating for the A35 software and animation lag plus the screen is washed out and so for the A55

@@mztahhanIt is, is a setting on the dev mode that makes them washed out, my A72 and a55 looked EXACTLY like that before changing that option, but at the same time this came after oneui 6.0

Before, many people complained Samsung makes phones with oversaturated colors, that don't look real, now people are asking why didn't they use saturated colors lol. This will probably sell very good, I'm considering of buying it myself as well.
That Super AMOLED display looks like an LCD screen that I had 10 years ago.
I went thru the Settings for the display. The Vivid setting is almost the same as the other setting. Almost similar or maybe even lamer than my LG's Natural setting. Heck, even my LG V20 looked better if it's retention issue goes away after a certain time. 😭
Always watch videos from people who buy their own stuff. Screw shillfluencers. The screen sucks so much I can't help but reply to any comment that praises it.
That's what happened in my case. After watching several sponsored videos, I bought that phone, and when it arrived, I couldn't believe that Samsung made such a dull and pale screen for that model. There's literally no phone on the market from any brand with such a terrible screen, even among Chinese brands.
Bought the A55 for 450 euro in Samsung shop app, 50,- discount and free Buds FE make it 325,- for the A55. Great deal for a premium phone with just a fantastic display and decent specs🎉

The only thing that i wish was different with the a55 is if the screen had a higher ppi, it's only 390 pixels per inch, having said that though,
I've seen plenty of screens with fewer than 400 ppi and in real-world use, i actually can't tell the difference, at least to my eye.
You will have to look really really closely to find a difference, you my even need to use a magnifying glass to see any difference.
A higher ppi is usually reserved for the flagship models of any brand.
As for the"Qualiity" of the screen, it has a victus panel, almost the strongest panel you can get.

hello sir. thank you for your honest opinion about this phone. i also noticed that this phone has flickering issues due to its lowest pwm among other competitors. i was wondering if you could help me to recommend a decent mid-range phone around a55 budget price. what would you choose? i have watched many phone reviews and they all say great things about their product that they are advertising. i am so confused. i would appreciate if you could guide me. ( my chief priorities are : screen ,battery, storage of 512 gb or having a memory slot).
Yes, it was painful for the eyes. I used that phone for only a week and couldn't get used to it. Unfortunately, I can't recommend anything decent at this moment. I have always been a Samsung fanboy and love their devices, but I guess they decided to cheap out on screens for several models. I decided to wait for next year's models. It's not too long a wait. If you have a working phone, I'd suggest waiting and not wasting money on a new one. After watching all those sponsored phone reviewers, I recommend walking to any store and seeing the device and its screen with your own eyes because no one who makes sponsored videos is going to tell what they really think, as that would be the end of their sponsorship.
I have the A55 and compared to a S24 screen is the same. This is the best screen on a midrange device to be honest. Almost most youtubers praise the screen on this device except you, but everyone has his own opinion.
Most UA-camrs praise the screen because they are sponsored by Samsung and receive those phones for free. Believe me, in that case, I would also say that the screen is perfect. However, I bought that phone myself, and the screen is significantly worse compared to, for example, the Samsung A72 and A73, which are in the same price range. I really tried to get used to that phone, but I can't. It's not what I expected from the A55.

So what? No words from MKBHD can make the screen look better. I tried many units. No amount of tweaking fixes the lame-ness of the screen, Vivid or not. They already took out the jack and yet my old phones still look better. I thought I was alone till I saw other youtbers like this guy say the same thing.

I really doubt that future updates will solve the issue. Same problem with the S24: ua-cam.com/video/4sH91vxC4hY/v-deo.html Samsung messed up something with the latest screens, and for me, as a loyal Samsung fan, that was a big disappointment. I gave away that phone and will wait for a new model with my old A73, which has a much better screen than the brand new A55.
S24 ultra issue is resolved by giving Vividness slider in latest update..is it true for A55 also???

It's a screen problem. That screen looks like an LCD not Super Amoled.

@@dimitarcvetanov5927 Like I said in the video, I bought that phone with my own money to replace my three-year-old A72, but the difference in screens is like day and night. I thought I got a faulty one. Then I found several non-sponsored videos where people said the same thing: the screen quality is like that of phones we had with LCD screens 15 years ago. I'll wait for a new model.
Oh now i did noticed the washed out colors.. i already match the color theme in the icons so i never noticed it..
I guess I just have to wait when Samsung releases A56 in 2025, and of course your unbiased review.
Same, I'll wait for a year. I'm not gonna pay 500 bucks for the Super AMOLED screen, which looks like an LCD screen that I had on my phones 10 years ago.

Exactly! I love the design, it looks really cool and feels solid and expensive in hand. But how could they mess up everything with that screen? I don't know.
A35 already got vividness slider and so will the A55 in the nearest future update
That feature was there for the A55 out of the box. It doesn't help.
Seems like u got a dud, mine doesnt look like that, the other phone seems like on eye comfort mode. Ive already traded my s10e for this for a huge discount cant see the difference may be this a55 look brighter
If you'd seen the whole video, you'd see that the eye comfort mode was off. Too many people everywhere say that they are disappointed with the screen, so I doubt that we all got a defective one. There's also a thread on the Samsung community website about it. Three models are affected at the moment: A35, A55, and S24. The rest of the phone models, and even tablets with AMOLED screens from Samsung, look great compared to those three models.

I see the same thing in the store , is unreal samsung made this , nobody talk about this , now i fell not alone. I hope is software problem. Amoled from 10 years a go is beter , is just impossibile to make this in 2024. Wat is the alternative? I want samsung

But last year's Galaxy A54 was made in Vietnam
I guess they expanded their manufacturing facilities. All of my previous Samsung phones were made in Vietnam. The Galaxy A55 is nicely made, but you have to check if the screen works for you. For me, the colors on that screen are the worst among all the phones I've ever had before. Also, for some reason, my eyes get really tired from that screen.
And iPhone is Made In China!
Yes 😮 is maybe not amoled , i just see the black normaly is pefect deep but in the 55 is like lcd. This is a scandal , is illegal. Samsung is goin have problem if this true. Maybe the sponsorized youtuber have recived the real amoled , becose in all comparison don't look like this , in the phone store yes is look like lcd
I still believe that it's an AMOLED screen, but it's the worst one I've ever seen, even among Chinese phones.
I like the a55 screen not so rich colours just unnatural
Well, my frustration was because every time I buy a new smartphone, the screen gets better and better or at least not worse. But even for me as a Samsung fanboy, that screen is below my standards. But I agree, some people will like unsaturated colors.
