Nice, yup when I had 100 sheep in the monoculture apple orchard they cleared every leaf up to chest height and gave fantastic access and aeration to the trees. Bonus was that the grass never was nicer than that year. No shrubs will survive after 2 grazings per year for two years.
You da man Stefan!
Consider installing a Screech Owl nest box. Owls eat rodents which host ticks. Sheep are a good match for an orchard. A couple pigs in fall would eat any fruits you missed which can reduced the over wintering of coddling moths.
That’s how we roll!
Mr. Billy!!! Sharing is Caring with the sheeps!!! We have st croix...
Right on!
Something sheepy going on! Good job Billy and a great idea sir.
Thank you!
Thank you. It was indeed a pleasure to see this after I had already seen the Patreon version.
Awesome, thank you Dwight!
We used to do this around the farm buildings and equipment. Sheep will clean out an area. We had goats too but they crashed fences down because they chased trees and shrubbery up high and ignored a lot of the ground feed, so were less effective than sheep. I'd choose the 'meat' variety of sheep over the 'wool' types unless you want to make sweaters.
Right there with you!
Right on !
Oh, to have a flock of cuties who prune, weed, and fertilize for me! 😭 Husband says no... for now, lol, I'm still trying. Your channel is a huge inspiration over here, keep up the good work!
use sheep not goats. Sure goat yoga is all fun and games, but goats are more interested in shrubbery than what's on the ground.
Thanks so much my friend!
The genuine inspiration I get from you content is off the chart, thank you Billy
Billy is the real deal
Doing something similar with my pigs and goats in the woods trying to transform it slowly into silvapasture.
I keep saying foot to knee is for the pigs and knee to shoulder is for the Pygmy goats that go in after. 🤣
Beautiful strategy my friend!
The only comfrey that ever grew for me was bought from you guys!
That’s awesome!

Hi Billy. Do you run a ram with your flock? I’m assuming Walter is a wether? Beautiful flock!
We do for the month of November. We will just borrow one for the task.
Sappers lead the way 💥💥

Goats would eat your trees, too
Yup!!!
What’s the breed of sheep you have?
10:14 Is the cardboard not a highly industrial made, extra glue and stuff kind of product?
I would would never put "that" in a completely organic soil.
The worms at my place LOVE the plain brown corrugated cardboard!
@@notbarbie582 Sure, but do the mushrooms like it?

@@mmiilleennkkoo no idea. But since I only use one layer, they break down quickly.
The sheep seem to be much safer than my goats. The goats would have stood up and cleared much higher. I may try it anyway, but instead of giving them a whole day, just allowing them in while I work beside them for a few hours a day.
Your sand is so much better than what I have here. Locals call this sugar sand as it looks and feels like sugar. I still have had 0 luck getting comfrey to grow here in sun or shade. The amaranth, sun hemp and clover did produce pretty well and all the animals are living it
Goats might do some serious damage my friend.
Cute sappers, Billy. Godspeed!
Many thanks!
That's a lot of work in one day!!
That’s how we roll!
@@PermaPasturesFarm21 No doubt! The sheep only leave the fun shaping part, and they ain't charging you and head butting you like goats tend to! 😆
Walter is a camera hog.
He always is!
...and the sheep got fed!
Bam!
Well done.
Thank you Barbara!
Blessings!
Thank you my friend!
Absolutely wonderful. Our tiny flock thrives on native black locust, tulip poplar, sassafras and the apricot, hazelnut and apple we've planted all over. By the time they've finished the rotation around the property all 6 of those are ready to be foraged again. I have yet to deworm any sheep. Another great video. Thanks.
