Hey Billy! Just wanted to say I love shopping with you guys. Ordered 10 comfrey cutting, received 13, can probably halve them. And I get a personalized thank you note. You guys are the best. I love planting part of your homestead on my homestead.
Awesome! Thank you and thank you for your business!
I second the notion, you are a valuable and generous resource for budding and experienced homesteaders alike. And I can’t wait to patronize your shop when me and the Mrs. get onto our parcel.
Agreed!
I'm establishing Birds of Paradise before I even have the fruit trees planted since they do so well here in the desert. I have multiple compost holes where I'm growing comfrey now to get the dirt really rich in anticipation to planting fruit trees this fall.
Fyi honey locust pods can be ised to make flour hunans can eat and the leaves have almost the same nutrition profile as alfalfa.. our animals love every part of it 👌
Planted Goumi ext to our Mulberry and Peaches and they could not have more fruit on them. Loaded to the max.
Now that’s what I’m talking about!
@@PermaPasturesFarm21 W@lmart brand diapers smell funny out of the packaging.
Gave us a headache in the car on the way home just from the box in the car.
Took them back and tried to get help about it and was stonewalled.

Zip, nothing being solved about this
Thank you, Billy!
Awesome video, great info and encouragement!
Shalom!
Always good to see what you're doing Billy. Glad you guys didn't get devoured by the eclipse. lol! Prayers and God bless y'all.
Glad to see you made it through as well, Rick!
❤ This video is a treasure trove of gold nuggets. i have 2 year old thornless hl tree seedlings in my pastures for winter forage. Didn't know planting them close to my fruit trees could be of benefit. Shalom
Thank you so much, my friend!
I have been doing the coppicing method for over grown shrubs and trees for years, we call it regenerative pruning in the tree biz. This is a great way to get of rid of disease and destructive insect infestation from mature plants, and the extensive root system that is already established allows for an amazing recovery . Thanks for sharing with use !
Thank you so much for weighing in my friend!
I thought I saw an awesome shirt on your website for wood chippers and was wondering if you’ll get those back in stock anytime this month? It’s child abuse prevention month so I feel like y’all should sell em all month. Thank you! Also our comfrey is doing awesome!
The comfrey I got from you is growing like gangbusters here in my North Alabama strawberries! Thank you Billy and Michelle! Also, did you see the podcast where RFK Jr interviews Joel Salatin. What! What!
Thank you so much for your business, my friend! I haven’t seen it yet, but I would definitely like to.
Hello Billy. We have found that the honey locus aren’t nearly as resilient as the black locust , here in Kentucky. The honey Locust seem to take a few years to get established. The black locus are definitely more of a workhorse. It’s too bad. The black locus have so many thorns. It seems like they do grow . out of the thorn phase when they get older. Good information on this video. Thanks for sharing.
this is great. I just got some bare root nitrogen fixers and I know what to do with them now.
I’m glad this helps out Steven!
Awesome stuff! Saw that your boy did a Q&A on this on his channel!!
Thank you so much for the vote of confidence, my friend. I couldn’t be more proud of him!
Thank you for the information! The comfrey we bought from y'all is growing great, excited to implement it in many ways
Awesome! Thank you so much for your business, my friend!
Billy, I got comfrey from you all 2 maybe 3 years ago. I divided and shared with my sister last year and again this year. Separated/divided 3 others today and I have replanted all over the place for that EASY chop/step and drop. THANK YOU so much. Using it for salves and compost tea as well.
Now you just made my day, grandma! I want to get to the point where I can no longer sell this stuff!
This is what keeps me watching you. I love the way you think. It challenges me to think differently as well. May God bless richly you dear brother.
Thank you so much, Dwight!
My Olympia fig tree is putting off fruit right now in Maine. The only thing different is that I topped the black locust tree right next to it about a month ago 🤔
This is basically why I recommend planting native grasses like Panicum virgatum around the fruit trees. The deep-rooting nature of the grasses builds up the soil as the plants sacrifice about a quarter of their root mass every year, and that allows air and water to move through the ground more easily. On top of that, because they are mining so deep into the ground, doing God knows what, their above-ground mass is thick with all sorts of nutrients we never think about. That makes it some of the best mulch and livestock fodder that you can possibly hope for. We don't know what they're doing with those crazy deep roots, but we know that plants like Echinacea pallida, Panicum virgatum, and Andropogon gerardii are doing something amazing. Plant them around your fruit trees and you'll see the fruit trees benefit. And when you cut the dried stalks down at the end of winter to make room for new growth, you've got gobs of nutritious mulch or feed to use around the homestead.
I like the way you roll my friend
Great stuff my friend! Blessings!
Thank you for an excellent video! We just planted a mimosa tree in the middle of our fruit trees for the same nitrogen fixing benefits plus it has incredible medicinal uses.
Glad it was helpful! I love mimosa, but most people think it’s a pest.
@@PermaPasturesFarm21 wow, had no idea! We out in northern Cali just below the frost line and we call it the happy tree, its flowers can help with depression among other things
I’ve done this it works a treat. I use common alder Italian alder and sea buckthorn all nitrogen fixers. The older produces good firewood and the sea buckthorn produces edible berries that you can make him to juice or in pies. Are you sir are right on point. Well done.
Thank you so so much, my friend!
Very useful information. Thanks!
Great info. Looks like I’ll need to make another stop on my next Marshall run to see what they have.
They definitely have things nobody else does.
Thanks Billy, keep em coming please! I think I'm almost starting to understand...🤔😜
Blessings 🙏🙏
You got it, my friend!

Timely video, PIMP! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful Daniel!
I've got two things on my land that people stress over that I'm planning to use to my advantage, and I'd like to know your thoughts on. I've got Kudzu, which I've eradicated most of by forestey mulching my field and manually cutting large vines, and I've got Tree of Heaven popping up everywhere. As Kudzu starts to pop up here and there, I just cut it and put it on my compost pile. Eventually the roots should starve of energy and die, but in the meantime I've got excellent food for my compost (and my chickens too). I'm thinking of doing thr same thing with the Tree of Heaven. Let it grow and leaf out, and then cut it and add it to my compost pile.
You sound like a competent Permaculture designer to me! That’s precisely the method I would be using
@PermaPasturesFarm21 thanks, but I'm just starting out on my journey.
AATW Brother. I always learn so many things, watching your videos.
Thank you so much airborne!
OK, that was slick!
Thank you very much, my friend!
Do your rice knives ever need sharpened?
What are the blue spreader things on your peach (or apple)? I would like to get some for my plum and apple trees.
They were plastic spreaders that I found online. I’m not really too happy with them.
If your planting the nitrogen fixing trees that close, would you still recommend still using the trio system from Stefan Sobkowiak?
Absolutely! This only provides immediate nitrogen fixation until the trees grow up. Eventually, the nitrogen fixer in the same hole will die with continued coppicing.
Are mimosa trees in the same camp??
Are all your nitrogen fixers thornless?
We have plenty of thorny black locust around here. Honey Locust is typically quite thorny as well, but I’m glad to find a variety that has all the benefits without the thorns.
Is Lyme disease an issue in your area?
I’m not sure. I don’t get out enough to really know.
What is the secret to getting comfry to start from seed? I’m having a heck of a time and you’re all sold out. 😢 Will it even grow in zone 6 a? Help plz!!!! lol❤
Are you concerned about starting samplings with the bugs coming up this year?
Not at all my friend. I’m counting on nature to keep everything in balance.
@@PermaPasturesFarm21 even the cicadas???
Have you prune the roots of the new planted trees in advance?
Not at all. These nitrogen fixers are rather robust without any intervention.
Collar and pollar?
Coppice=cut close to ground.
Pollard=cut higher up

How are you keeping deer out?
We use and sell bone sauce for that very purpose.

Where can I take a course on permaculture in Texas?
Check out school of Permaculture. Nicholas Burtner is a great instructor and he even has online options.
yeah! 3x9 Who can figure that one out? LOL. Too funny
