Holy moly! Makes a guy want to get a sign that reads " absolutely no wipes " and put it on the toilet lid. I'm starting to look forward to Monday mornings and your videos, thanks for sharing Donald.
Those caps certainly seemed different than the normal ones. Looked like no one had ever opened them since the place was built... probably around 1950... so 70 years old. Good job as always Donald!
Wipes must be deposited in the trash bin if you choose to use them. Simple rule at our home which has saved our 1976 septic system and kept it alive and well.
I subscribed to his channel due Ollie too. I was curious to see how the other plumbers from another country go about doing their tasks. I'm impressed with his work ethic too as much as Ollie's.
It is never not gross to see this all happening inside the actual house. Here in Australia, all this is outdoors. Nice work from the Plumbing Master yet again!
Was this a landlord, tenant, or home owner? I guess people who have never seen any blocked drain videos don't realize how unwise it is to use wipes instead of toilet paper. Plumbers and drainers from the USA, the UK, Canada, Europe and Australia all seem to have the same issue with wipes.
@@eddiek204 they count as flushable because they can make I through the toilet also most packages say to flush a single wipe as long as that one goes they can claim its flushable in the us

Holy butt wipes, that was a bucket full of wipes!. Well done Donald ,awkward work area , but did not take you long to sort it out. Great video, trust you gave her some advice(probably go in one ear and out the other) lol ,......
Quick question. If you flush the upstairs toilet and it comes up in the basement shower, does it mean it’s a pulled toilet job or main sewer line? I’ve seen this problem recently but the sewer line cannot be found in the basement probably buried and when snaked from the basement toilet, the water didn’t go down. What do you think about this scenario?
@@NYDRAINS yeh lol. Usually I’ve tried checking the main first but couldn’t find it. The boiler and hot water tanks were in front of a pit with gravel and rocks filled to the top. I did see a branch line in the basement in PVC and it looked like a clean out.
Great job. How do you get so much in that sewer line ? Our sewer line clogged up and made our toilet backup. I told the plumber that we just had a new low flow toilet installed about a month ago and never had a problem before. He said make sure to hold down the handle to get a full flush because the first one won't put out enough water flow to clear the drain. He said he see a lot of backups with the new low flow toilets.
Technically, it's just the yard drains and gutter drains only for that particular house leading into the sewers, but on the street, it's completely separate lines.
I will never want to live in the basement, all of the sewage problems end up there. Yuck indeed. Good work Donald. I enjoy watch your channel and drain addict's .
You know it’s a great day when we get to see a whole lot of wipes! 😂😂 but like always it wasn’t enough to stop you from getting the job done! Excellent work brother 💯💯💪🏽💪🏽 also I wanted to ask because I’m also a New Yorker from the Bronx, where in NY would you say you get most of your work done if you don’t mind me asking?
Is that any reason why they don’t cement the trap area for easy clean up after sewer problem (instead of just dirts)? Maybe for changing the trap in the future?
I don't even need toilet paper anymore, I just use my hello tushy bidet and it makes me feel cleaner and I don't need to waste paper anymore 🙂 win/win situation

those drain caps seem to screw on, how come you dont just screw them off? I always see people break them or beat them with happens until they fall off.
The caps actually don't have threads. They have rings that compress to the sides of the pipe. They are tapped into the opening. These ones were tapped in flush which made it impossible to pry them out. The square bit on top of the cap is just for tapping the cap in.
Brian Nolte , I’m with you on that one. I love vintage bathrooms especially ones from the 1950s & earlier. My UA-cam channel is devoted to toilets 🚽, & I own 4 vintage ones, but want to get rid of 2.
Bryan Nolte My bathroom currently has a brand new Mansfield Summit that I really like & works best in my bathroom. The 1959 “Standard “ Compton & 1969 Mansfield Sinplex forward trap toilets worked well in my bathroom. I still have both toilets & plan on keeping them. I also have a Regency Blue 1970 American Standard Cadet that was okay in my bathroom & a 1981 Briggs Conserver as well. I’m looking to get rid of both the Cadet & Conserver in order to free up storage space in my apartment. I also do toilet repairs & replacements on the side. I prefer to use Mansfield toilets for all new installations. Speaking of which I want to replace the American Standard Hydra at my new girlfriend’s parents’ house with a brand new Mansfield Summit elongated smart height toilet if they will let me.
My sister uses the wipes. I told her about not flushing them and even showed her one of those videos of a really bad clog of them and what does she do??? Why, she STILL FLUSHES THE WIPES!!! Go figure! She said it says they're flushable, I tole her no, even though it says they are...they're not! I gave up, when she has to call one of y'all to unstop the wipes out of her sewage pipes, she'll believe me then!!!!!!!!!!! 😂
Usually for a resident property storm water drain runs and has a separate line and trap but does connect down the line to combine. It is separate for street drains, those have there own separate line.

How come the drain outside is connected to the sewer line? I thought that was illegal since during storms it can overwhelm the sewer system
Technically, it's just the yard drains and gutter drains only for that particular house leading into the sewers, but on the street, it's completely separate lines.
Serious question, Why are these U bends and manholes inside the property? It’s rare to see this in the UK but we do have the same nemesis “wipes”
Some are outside, all depends on the neighborhood and level of the city sewers to the property.

Lol , yeah some are just ridiculous, can't even swing a hammer much less turn a wrench!
Is that any reason why they don’t cement the trap area for easy clean up after sewer problem (instead of just dirts)? Maybe for changing the trap in the future?
most of these traps are in dirt because they are pre 1960 when codes were different.
Some people do have the pit looking nice and neat with cement for easier cleaning and others leave it so the water can drain into the earth if needed.
