This worked perfectly!! For years, I could NOT do more than 1 to 2 sets of lying hamstring curls due to severe spasm in the beginning of set 3. No matter how much I stretched and got enough potassium and magnesium, NOTHING worked. The coach I had did NOT know how to help me. Other youtube videos didnt help. I did this and the the first day I noticed a big improvment. A few weeks later, I can touch my toes with straight legs and can do as many sets as I want with NO cramping or spasms. Thanks Doc, this saved me..big time..this was absolutely huge!

You actually saved me. I have been strugling with my left hamstring and the pain shoots up to my glutes. Also lowerback is really tight. I went to work today and almost called sick but your video popped up and I also had this ball with me. About 5mins of sitting and moving the ball under my leg the pain had now reduced about 90%. I will continue to do this at least every other day. Im really thankfull for your help buddy

2:19 I've found that this stretch - which has been life-changing, by the way! - is even more effective when I pull the bent leg not just behind, but to the side - abducted away from the body at about 45 degrees. I think it is because it causes my standing foot to pronate, turn inwards, which stretches the hamstrings differently and more closely to the position the foot is in when I'm running, which is what causes the tightness in the first place. Thanks again, Doctor!

Tight hamstrings from sitting too much are causing lots of knee pain. I've been lying on the bed, stretching glutes & then pulling my leg up to get a good hamstring stretch.
It helps my knee so much... Gonna try the racquetball next, cuz I need to go a little deeper. Can't really do the others now til my knees heal. +I'm 69 lol.

Wow! I've had a tight hamstring for over 4 years, ever since my acl operation, and this has helped so much already! It may take a few sessions to get the complete knot out, and a bit of patience to let it release for a day or two between each session, so I'll let you know how it goes. Thank you so much, though.

    Great video. Very informational.
One thing I would like to point out/add on, and hopefully the good doctor will throw some input on this as well, but stretching the hip flexors and glutes will also provide help for this relief.
The body is constantly trying to balance itself. If your hamstrings are tight, it may be because it is balancing itself against other muscle groups that are of equal tightness. The 2 muscle groups that I have found to be the biggest contributors to this are the hip flexors and glutes.
So you may find immediate relief from simply stretching these areas. In fact, I would recommend attempting to stretch these areas first, as your hamstrings may already be overly tight.
    Hope this information is valuable.
    Good luck to all 👍

Just want to throw this out there in case someone experiencing similar to me. I had lower back pain. Sometimes it went away and I felt glute pain. Other times it was hamstring pain. I tried all these (they seemed to work for a few months) and eventually my symptoms got worse. Saw 2 orthopaedic doctors at the university hospital and they misdiagnosed me and gave me injections to wrong place. Saw a local chiropractor and was misdiagnosed. Saw PT and same thing. Just thought I had to live with it. I finally couldn’t take the pain any more and had to get answers. Went to the only chiropractor open on a Saturday. In 2 minutes he said it was 100% a hernia. Got an mri that week and confirmed 2 disc herniations. Finally worked towards the right fix after over a year of pain. Now almost 2 years and getting surgery next week. The injections helped but it always comes back. Please if you have pain that persists and even switches from back to glutes etc, get more opinions. It could be a chronic herniated disc, not just tight muscles.

Dan, I bit the bullet and bought a mattress that absolutely helps me with my back pain. It was $3000, so I really hoped it would work. It's a Tempur-pedic ProAdapt Firm. I have been a high-end picture framer since I was 15; I am now 53. All I do all day is stand and bend over, so I have the same issue that bakers get. I'm not a mattress saleswoman.
