I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. I’m sure that more people than just myself asked this question but I was one of them so thanks again, Wes
Great video and thx for the info! It’s time for me to change out my fly line. What line are you using in your demonstration? Many variables but looking for a nice 5 wt f line that won’t break the bank! Again, thanks!
Good topic for another video! Honestly, you have to figure out where and for what you will be using the line. Rio makes good reasonably priced lines. I buy a lot of lines for my school rods on ebay and TEMU and they are OK. Take a look at this video ua-cam.com/video/_73U8-r_wmI/v-deo.html
Thanks for the great explanation!!! Can I also ask how to measure a hook size? I got some streamers from a friend but don't know the hook size! Thanks for help!
If you look at this video it is more than hook size. I would say there is a lot of trial and error here. Streamers don't need much Taper in the leader so try a pretty heavy leader and see how it works. ua-cam.com/video/JbFu8P5BJEA/v-deo.html
When casting where the leader line and the main line are joined should that connection point bypass the first guide to give a accurate cast? and which line has the weight the leader or main?
The fly line he has is called a weight forward line. Many times leaders are about the length of the rod, the fly line is the engine, and needs to be heavy enough to carry the leader and fly being used. There are different weight rods, and fly lines available that enable you to land small to very large fish.

At 15 i could shoot out my entire flyline to the backing......a lot of practice
Good stuff. I’m going out to the yard to practice.

casting should begin with atleast 20ft of line outside the rod . So counting a 9 foot leader, about 30 ft of line.
