Here's a fun little experiment cracking gold leaf! The clay is first wrapped in gold leaf and then covered with nail polish. I learned quite a bit about metallic leaf in this video, namely the vast majority of gold leaf is made from brass (copper + zinc). This is obviously much cheaper and makes it affordable for DIY projects. In most cases, the colour isn't affected however things with moisture or solvents (eg nail polish) can cause the metal to oxidise and darken. The pink colour of rose gold comes from copper, so it made sense that the rose gold version oxidised more strongly.

Am I the only one that thinks that oxidized copper is really pretty? It has that beautiful green patina that makes it look old and almost magical
yes. but it's also toxic if u get exposed to it too much or swallow it

@@user-vw5yg5ok5f there is an instrument made of copper which helps at making a strong drink. Basically boil the drink in a copper vase and if it's not clean then toxins get in the drink and that's how u can swallow the copper oxide

Next time try To add the gold leaf when you are adding your Last coat of nail polish when it is not too wet but still sticky

We all think this, and Joanna has addressed this already. In order to keep her views and increase them, she says that she has to do the latest trends to attract other people. I’m sad about this as well.

It would probably work nicer if you painted the nail polish on first then added the gold leaf on top after so it doesn't dicolor

Festiive today i tried it out on clay and it actually worked out really well and it felt like cracking chalk! I would recommend trying it out sometime
