- Hey everyone! Wind serpents very well could be the best pet once again in Phase 3. Since my group isn't quite ready to raid and I wanted to have a wind serpent with max loyalty ready I decided to put together a guide on how to tame these as a solo player.

Thanks, the Wind Serpent was the last Pet to get for training/updating Pet abilities & I got it using your guide here.
As an added bonus to the rng, its possible for mobs to spawn in line of sight of the safe spots making them ineffective.

Oozeling is actually pretty hard to kill if you're melee hunter and not very geared. 15k health with an underleveled pet is tough.
I'm being detected 100% of the time after using invis pot. Any thoughts? Jumping on ledge like I've seen in the videos
What serpent is best ? Dosent Azzere do mist dmg?
You can also just tame Arash-ethis in Feralas. He's a rare white wind serpent and does a circle in an area. I sat at 45,25 and just used unitscan addon to notify, then eyes of the beast on his path every few minutes. Took 2 hours and bam, found em. Is a 49 elite with the same skills as the Sunken Temple serpents. Max crit so far is 910 with lightning breath 3.
according to what i have read he is also on an 8 hour cd, and is also very popular, i farmed for him all week every operatunity i had and never seen him., you really have to get lucky to find him right now. this methos is much much easier

I would recommend using an invis pot on the very first pack (the one you’re told to reset if it’s not the right comp). You’ll spend quite a bit of time with resetting the dungeon and waste your lockouts if you don’t do that. You also don’t need to send your pet into die when you click on the rope to go upstairs. Just run up to the top, click it, trap one of the two mobs upstairs, and feign death in the corner. After that, it’s pretty easy.
after that i dont find the spawn and invis pots dont do shit for me there :')
@@evenmoredaveThe spawn patrols the outer circle which is after you take the rope upstairs. I would guess that its patrol route takes about 2 minutes to complete a circle so if you /target right away, it could be out of range.
@@Jagwairee did after 4 more tries in which one i abandoned my pet and then died immediately after. so i did it without further invispots... but man this was hard to pull off...
theres also a big ooze that patrols in my lockout, dunno if if it does for others, but can conflict with the taming and should be raid marked as well to see where he's going
Right at the point where you supposed to feign death, there's one big Slime waiting for me. It's not working.
What addons do you have to organize your hot bars like that?? I'm very new :D Thanks!

I failed the tame a couple of times with 1s left, I would highly suggest buying Magic Dust from the AH as it will sleep the Serpent for 30 seconds, making the tame perfectly safe.
when i wvrn sting this pet it breaks teh trap dmg after and then it kills me in 4 hits before the tame beast finishes anyone else?
I wanted to mention for those having difficulty with this tame, that there is a slightly easier way to do this if you are already doing the raid. Even if you don't want to bother the other guildies with a request to stop and tame a wind serpent like I did, there is a Frostwing Sapper within a group of mobs after the final boss, which (at least in my raids) we don't bother to kill since there's no need. So, right after the raid was done, I went back into the raid, back to the Hakkar location and just walked up and tamed him! No respeccing, no need for invis.. just a standard tame. Not sure if the mobs here are randomized or not but check it out on your next raid and maybe just ask the raid not to kill those final mobs. I had to tame a Hakari Sapper in order to get close enough to the Frostwing, but there was no drama.
Just for context -- where are you getting info about DPS for pets?
I want to see if there's a huge difference between Core Hound/Wind Serpent / Cat -- if you could point me towards any resources/posts I'd love to see!

Also -- I think on first glance/my own theory crafting, if you're going to ranged you have to go deep MM.
300 Ranged Attack Power on Trueshot seems insane to give up, not to mention that your crits get huge buffs, you're critting more often, and you can use your pet to boost your attack speed and the synergy between traps seems nutty to give up if you do it properly.
I can't see a world in which pure BM in the PvE arena would come close at least as compared to ranged only -- not counting in melee hunter here.
theres no way wind serpents are bis because of focus fire u need 5 stacks in 20sec and with wind serpent u cant get 5 stacks for 15% more range attackspeed
So there are lots of variables here, going to go into a more detailed comparison in a video soon. WS is looking strong for melee hunters with the new claw offhand in particular. Otherse 2.0 cat, ranged hunters 1.2 or 1.0 cat

how did you enter solo ? also if your raid has cleared up to and including eranikus will all the trash have despawned for that raid ID
There's a macro you can run. Unfortunately I'm not at my PC to share it atm but should be an easy Google

Only Lightning breath, don't even train bite
too bad the serpent does not spawn at this location for me and invisibility potion doesnt do shit in the upper ring for me
Really wish they added more stable spots. I already have Broken Tooth, a personal pet I like and now gotta keep the third one open to learn skills..
Can I ask what was special about the wind serpent from ST? Is it any special abilities? Higher attack speed?

No
For melee they seem to be better, for ranged cat have more value with Focus Fire synergy via claw. Once melee hunters get the claw items from ST those give nature dmg buff so that will help WS DMG
My 49 rare spawn wind serpent is criting for 1050 lightning breaths vs elite giants near his spawn.

How does this pet compare with the core corehound pet?
Basically 1.0 or 1.2 Cat > WS > CH for Ranged
2.0 Cat > WS > CH for Melee
Once melee get the nature dmg claw offhand WS gets better for melee.
or you can try and get lucky with Arash-ethis, rank2 dive rank5 breath. took me about 30 mins of camping
That's what I did. He was there already when I got there.
A little thing, i tamed one with guild yesterday and the serpent doesnt go up in loyalty.
Mines gone up as normal. Pets need to earn a % of xp to level up their loyalty and pets get VERY little experience while in a raid
I also tamed one with my guild, doesn't go up in loyalty at all, it's not that it's low in a raid, it's at 0. I reset at the pet trainer, lost it's 2 abilities, and still at 0 loyalty. Can't train any abilities
Ed. Just took a lot of grinding, but DID level up!
So what is the real DPS difference between the Core Hound and WS? I see people saying WS> CH with no data to back it up or any discussion on the amount of damage difference.
Sims are available in the hunter discord. It's significant.

can you do this as an Orc on horde side that doesnt have shadowmeld?
Yep just stay feigned at that first spot until the slime wanders towards the stairs. The second spot I shadow meld doesnt need shadow meld as long as you kill the little slime as I mention in the video
@@SolidJakeGG i got lucky with a ST PuG group I rolled with tonight and all 19 of them were kind enough to not kill 1 and let me tame it lol. so i got lucky

you basically have to get that exact trash mob set up, I have reset probably 5 times and got all kinds of bullshit that would just daze me instantly. 😒 also my wyvern sting doesnt work on shit in here...
without shadow meld resetting FD is pretty sketchy

I could care less about the BiS pet if only more pets had as many abilities as cats. Slap charge on another pet lol.
wyvern is complete bullshit.. it actually fucked me up completely.. because the dot will break your freezing trap.. and you end up getting fucked.. you were lucky as fuck that you did it the way you did.. thats something you should have said.. freezing trap is more then enough to tame him.. for all does that will go for it

You saying it is the best while providing 0 evidence how it is the best? meanwhile seen several places calling cat the best and it is logical as well, the new rune procs of pet basic attack abilities in which Claw has lowest cd and bite, cats with 2.0 speed will most likely be the best dmg dealers and ranged hunters buffers
WS Can do slightly more dps for melee hunters based off the Sims I've run. Have a much more detailed video covering it in the works
