Good review! I liked how you delved into the the locations and compared Cony Island from then and today. I was 19 when the movie came out and saw it 3 or 4 times since 79. It's kind of a cult classic with "Warriors, come out to plaaaaayaay" as you said iconic. I am not sure if you intended this or not, but you showed several scenes of the Warriors running away. I didn't catch on to the importance and reality of that until the last time I saw it. I used to be a student/teacher of TKD and was in charge of teaching beginning self defense classes. For each new group I had to teach the same lesson "OK, you've stopped the attack, what do you do now"? Every time someone would suggest a followup attack. Every time I had to correct them "No, in self defense your goal is to get away without being hurt. So, you stop the attack and try to get away. Yes, you run away if you can"! Not exactly what you normally hear in a martial arts class. The Warriors did this! Their goal wasn't to beat any other gangs but to get back to Cony Island in the best condition they could. So for most action scenes they fought until they could break away and then ran. Most action movies today don't portray this realism in defending themselves or others.
One of my fav films. Hate that the bluray version has the comic book transitions. Think it takes away from the original version and overall atmosphere.

You got that right

@@Derek-tk4wf I haven’t seen it and maybe I never will. “Fixing” old things often doesn’t make them better.
Streets Of Fire had that top 5 hit I Can Dream About You from Dan Hartman. 😊
Forgot about that! My memory of the movie is probably inflating how good it was, but I’m going to go for it anyway.
African American black men? As opposed to African American Dave Matthews of the Dave Matthews Band? 😅🤔
You obviously don’t remember those stories about how gangs like the Afrikaners terrorized Queens in the mid-1970s.
