I'm not defending the images shown in this clip, but we tend to judge things by our own, modern standards. Was it ok to ride real ponies on carnival fairs 30 years ago? Yes. Is it now? No, it's animal cruelty. In the same way, you could say Disney even tried to be inclusive and depict (albeit very stereotypical) people with a darker skintone. Is the doll worth less than her white counterparts? We don't know since the whites aren't priced. Is it cheaper than the Jack in the boxes? Yes, but they were harder to produce than your average ragdoll. Point is that it's a product of its time. Unfortunately people didn't tend to think as much and luckily we've evolved beyond it. You come out and say it's shitty, which to me is a sign that we've grown past it. TL;DR: Don't judge the cartoon by modern standards.
My wife said that spiders are arachnids not insects, and should have 8 legs instead of 6. You might as well go the whole hog and say that spiders also don't wear shoes, dance, or play the piano! Besides it's easier for the animators to draw less legs, as it is with Mickey Mouse and co having just three fingers. I hope she's satisfied!
Having two fewer legs was out of a need to simplify the animation. It is called "Artistic License." It's the same thing with cartoon characters having three fingers and a thumb. And since cartoons are not literal, they can be whatever they are in their own universe. If this has to be explained, maybe it shows how little imagination some people have.
@@RayPointerChannel You are right, bud. Over the years I have heard so many people with a lack of imagination criticising cartoons. Some examples... Spinach can't make you that strong. How did Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket breath underwater? And the real cruncher was trying to get Tom and Jerry banned for "irresponsible" racist concerns and that they were too violent for young kids.
I can't stop smiling the whole time 😊 its so cool!
I love this short.
Very Entertaining Indeed.
Amazing!
Uh, I think the spider is missing a few legs!!
+caspence56 Maybe he lost two of his limbs due to "cartoon cancer".

From 3:34 and on, Inspiration for Toy Story series.
And before that, it was Gumby, the series that took place in a toy shop where it was closed.
