These many details of a pirate's life reflects the unromanticized realities of those who actually were in history and continue to be active in piracy ever since the Age of Sail. BattleTech's larger-than-life fictional personalities were also more successful as outsiders of the nation-state status quo at establishing their own would-be equivalent factions than real-world figures, though. Harsh, decisive and uncompromising continues to be the way of piracy. Still not nearly as respectable as mercenaries have been uniquely made to be in BattleTech's universe. These bits and pieces that confirmed or distinguished this form of scalliwags in space were defintely welcome and interesting to learn. “Breaking the law and accepting my fate, it's a short but exciting life for me, yo ho.” Piracy through BattleMech invokes quite the images and I'll look forward with anticipation on your follow-up on some of the bands, Narrator. I do wonder if grudges worthy of note ever existed between any mercs and pirates. Thank you, as always, GDN, for this subject and BattleTech coverage overall. 'Til your next callsign hail, have a healthy and awesome week.
Interesting comment there Mike about pirates and mercenaries during the age of sail sometimes pirates became mercenaries but this being BattleTech Anything possible the only pirate I really think had some success was Sir Francis Drake plus the movie ice pirates was Closest I've ever gotten to see pirates in space opp's and yeah treasure planet 😃👍
I would make up a campaign where the Taurians do a "Shores of Tripoli" attack on a pirate world in the periphery, against a pirate clan with a leader heavily inspired by Dennis Hopper's character from "Waterworld".
I know most people don't like to play what they might consider to be the bad guys. But man if the role play, or Interstellar Operations and large scale faction management ever does make a much needed return and with updates. The Perfery and Deep Perfery is the perfect place for it. Being mercenaries is fun for skirmishes and free play, but natively limited for self inserts. While out there in the dark, and middle of nowhere you can natively justify almost anything so long as it is limited to the Perfery, and small scale side of Battletech. And this customization is even greater. In a place where micro nations, factions, power balances, and alliances rise, fall, and shift at least 3 times over night with relatively limited outside interference. Players, fans, and even the writers of Catalyst can do almost anything out there and be anyone out there
taking on a raid with more lighter mech's and faster ships is just Being smart using mech's are Spaceships like back in day of age and sail, you use something that's more your crew preference for raiding And Haha 😂 that video at 2:23 Paula lady of death Trevailne look like a bad punk-rocker photo-shoot when she got,Older coming out of rehab then the video of her at 10:43 who looks like she's posing as a Halloween costume party model for Halloween Town 😂👍
God, guns, and Battletech. You gotta love the periphery. Can't wait for the next video, and thanks for making a on pirates. I've shared this with the kids in the pirate campaign(A Time of War)
"A LRM-5, one salvo with no reloads, a HPG that doesn't point to the next station... a PPC. I was expecting it to be made of wood. You are simply the worst pirate I've ever heard of. "
Hello Mr Narrator, thank you for this foray into the Periphery Piracy. I was wondering, perhaps I've overlooked it but have you ever presented any lore on the (secret) Society inside of the Clans?
So if the Star League is the Roman Empire, the Successor States is Medieval Europe, ComStar the Catholic Church and Clans Mongol Hordes, would the Periphery Bandit Kingdoms be Viking Scandinavia?
The League isn't even remotely the Roman Empire. It descended directly from the Terran Hegemony, which descended from the Terran Alliance, which itself began as the Western Alliance (a sort of glorified NATO/UN).
As the Official Liaison for the 🎶 Amazonian Space Pirates 🎶 I'm just here to make sure you got the send up for Periphery Pirates correct. The Girls have worked hard for their Image & Reputation for centuries. Image is everything (... even if it's mostly for show to cover up , other things...). For the record the Tortugans aren't exactly fans of the ASP given their history in that region. (Ironically the ASP engages in alot of anti-piracy within the actual Periphery...at least by the time the 2nd Succession War finished, long story & I hate to prattle on ;-). After a run in with Redjack Ryan's idiots, I started taking anti-pirate jobs. Salvage isn't as good, but at least most of the people I'm shooting deserve it! -- Origin of The Hangmen Mercenary combined arms unit. Oddly, I love playing Rebel privateers in Star Wars, but the writers for BT went out of their way to make most of the big pirate groups extra nasty. So I prefer to do what I can to protect people. "Yeah we're founded by pirates and we're proud of it." I love that they give serious thought to the logistics of space piracy.

‘But the best pirates.’ Ahh… so we’re talking about the Federated Suns.

I always felt that the Grim dark narrator had a little piratical side to him 🧐🤓😎.
Yarr!
Looking forward to more Pirate content! Arrhhh!
The first king was a lucky soldier, and the first pirate was a smart captain.

I haven't made a video on the Society but I did make several videos on clan society.

What's the source of the text you're reading for this GDN? Sounds like great info for a game master to digest.
Classic Battletech Field Manual - Periphery
Good stuff. Get in and get out.
They say that the first person to comment gets….
Nothing.
They get a reply.
