    Infinite baffle has the most linear bass response since they are also known as first order. Sound quality competition car stereos often have IB subs.

    Awesome info! Just installed some 8” HAT L8V2’s in IB in the firewall. Was also apprehensive about cutting holes in my truck but cutting the holes was actually the easiest part. Hardest part was getting the baffles right, mounting the baffles to be solid and sealed, outside protection, rain guard and then trying to make it not look like a complete hack job. My advice to anyone on the fence about going IB is do your homework (watch videos like this) and just go for it. Haven’t turned on my system since the install so I cannot say how much of a difference it is but hopefully soon.

    Single 15 in a sealed 2.6 cf enclosure. The box (enclosure) is just pushed up to where the backseat was.... There's nothing in the back of my 2000 Accord sedan. I haven't done any custom fab yet.... The bass sounds good, front windows down, trunk closed.... But the bass is awesome once I pop the trunk... I didn't understand this until I listened to your explanation.

    A good ported or sealed FRONT sub setup (8s or 10s) in combination with a large rear IB setup (15 or 18) is probably an ideal setup. Thats what i'm looking at doing. 10hz - 35hz (give or take) for the IB and 25hz-100 hz (give or take) for the front sub.

      There are some inexpensive subs that work well in IB.
      Then you need a small amp and some wood.
      Trunk baffle can be cheap, it just takes some time to make a good sealed baffle.

    • @CarAudioEnthusiasts
      @CarAudioEnthusiasts  2 місяці тому

      in that ride, IB is likely a bad idea, UNLESS you can seal off the trunk. in that case itll sound great. sealed will sound great too, but be warned, ported enclosures are far more efficient, though sloppy, so youll have less output with IB or sealed.

    Would infinite baffle be possible/feasible under a rear truck seat? That area is always scarce for box size/volume, so just removing the rear half of the box could be useful.
    Big front baffle that runs width of the of seat, and then side baffles that run along the seat sides. Basically a " [ " shape with no bottom, top, or rear wall. Would it be close enough to a trunk baffle setup?
    Or would it still be too "connected" to the vehicle cabin, which is already small on a truck?
    *I should specify without cutting a hole in the cab

    • @CarAudioEnthusiasts
      @CarAudioEnthusiasts  3 місяці тому +1

      sorry that would not be an infinite baffle. but what youre talking about WILL work. the only tough part is getting the seal on the floor of the truck. the sides have to be cut to fit perfect, and you need a thick gasket of rubber, then some screw points to attach it down. "i did one like this behind the seat of a 90s ford ranger, with 2 8s in it" anyway you have to create a sealed space using the floor as the 6th side of the box.

      .707 is the sweet spot for control verus response. .05 would be quite a bit softer, and play more extreme lows easier, but also be more likely to bottom out.
