Fighter pilots from a separate naval fighter aviation regiment of the Northern Fleet's mixed aviation corps practiced combat maneuvers in Arctic airspace.
During training flights in the air, the crews of MiG-29K fighters practiced elements of combat maneuvers, as well as simple and complex aerobatics at various altitudes.
One of the elements practiced in the air by deck pilots was aerial combat flights in the clouds. As one of the pilots of the MiG-29K aircraft said, “in the air, in the clouds, we carry out guidance, target acquisition and tactical launch of guided weapons from an air-to-air missile.”
Preliminary guidance of the aircraft to the target was carried out from the ground and then the pilots performed target acquisition using onboard avionics.
The flights took place during the day, afternoon and night in the difficult weather conditions of the Far North, which requires a special level of pilot training.
Young pilots participated in the flights.
Using the aircraft's combat capabilities, they improved their skills in pointing aircraft weapons at a target and intercepting a simulated enemy aircraft.
In addition, elements of simple and complex acrobatics were practiced in the air at medium and low altitudes.
After completing their flight missions, the fighters returned to the permanent airfield Severomorsk-3.
