While Palumbo's was financially successful, the real owners of this place kept raising the amount that they were extorting from the owners. Organized crime, those greedy POS's, burned this place to the ground for the insurance money and made even more money when they sold the property to Rite Aid.
    I hope they burn, too.

Frank Palumbo was the owner of all the Palumbo establishments.
      My family knew him personally.
      For multiple decades

@kidt: I knew them, too. Including Antonio Palumbo; he started the whole in 1884. I knew him, I met him. And while he was proud of his grandson, he would be ashamed of his grandson for the sewer that he turned Palumbo's into.
There were three fires all within the span of a handful of weeks, all in 1994. All three of them were arson. Is that a coincidence?! And tell me this: Why did the Palumbo family get nuthin' outta the money that came from the insurance (Which did go through! They did get the money, right!?), hmm?? And why did they get so little of the money that came from the sale of the property, to RiteAid? Why were they cheated out of all of that money!?
Somebody who is scum sits on high... That's why!

@@MorpheusOne did you know my Uncle Junior?
      John sarafino?
He fell ill in 1992 and died almost immediately after.
      I think he was poisoned.
Timing of everything is my reason for that thought
His obituary said that Junior stayed at Palumbos for 57 years if his life (since he was 5) and was Palumbos connection to everyone.
Palumbo had the money and Junior had the connections.
I was too young to know uncle junior and always hear stories about him. Rumors and stuff.
I am fascinated with him and the south Philly era he lived in
      1950-1992.
      Btw…My family name is Mascio.
      Junior was my grandmothers brother…sarafino.
      They lived on Catherine street.
