You misunderstood what they have been saying about leashes. If you are in a place where a leash could possibly catch on something, eg a river or near boat moorings & bouys, then you might find yourself in a situation where your leash is holding you under the water and you cannot reach the ankle release.
I watched a video of a very experienced and fit paddler in a fast-moving river demonstrating how the current 'stretched him out' and stopped him from bending forward to reach his ankle and was also pushing him under the surface. He would have died and had to be rescued by his friends who were standing beside him for that reason. I heard another story of someone losing a friend who fell off his board and landed on the far side of a small moored boat and drowned despite being with friends. Pontoons, jetties and stanchions pose a similar risk.
What they are actually suggesting is that *if* you are in such a location then you should use a quick-release waist attachment rather than ankle or thigh. Out in the open water and away from moorings etc. then an ankle leash is fine. NOBODY would suggest paddle boarding without a leash under any circumstances.
PS. It might be an idea to clear the sand away from the valve before using it as just a few grains could stop your valve working.

Thanks Robin yes I heard on the radio this morning about about the waste strap as opposed to the ankle. I originally thought they were saying no leash was better. Thanks for the information I’m sure my viewers will find it very useful. Thanks for watching 😊

Went round the Mount on a paddle board last summer. Very windy so it was hard work . Landed on the Mount but got kicked off by The National Trust as you have to buy a ticket on line before you set foot on it. Still, it was a great experience going round it in crystal clear water

It's a cruel thought but when you were talking about hand pumps whilst it was inflating behind you I was secretly wanting it to explode.
And @11:08, ear busting lol. Glad I wasn't wearing little ear phones 😲

Okay so St Michael's Mount is not Mont Saint-Michel 😃 Just looking at the title in the suggestions, I was saying to myself: Oh okay he's been to France too! Well perhaps you have, I haven't watched every video so far. But not this time haha.
That didn't keep me from enjoying this video though, as usual.

Based on what I read I would avoid using the electric pump to fully inflate the board. What I understand is that it can add extra stress to the seals. Best to get to 80% then hand pump or give it a few mins before finishing

4.56 LOL. As always nicely edited it must take so much extra time with the different angles but well worth it. I want to give paddle boarding ago but I think I would start at the local water sports lake rather than the sea.

I did a SUP beginners class on the river Trent in Burton while I was furloughed, we did a loop up and down stream near the town I was the only one that didn’t fall in people went over the front of my board falling in and I still managed to stay standing, must’ve been all the years I spent skateboarding paying off, after I saw all these people falling in I really didn’t fancy a gob full of water out the river 😂
