The way everyone talks about The Algorithm makes me think of it as some kind of Lovecraftian being that must be appeased through a very specific kind of ritual.

It's very ironic that this video got pegged as a drama video or something, and I checked it out for basically all the exact reasons you described at 17:15. You definitely know your stuff about UA-cam.

it's strange that they told him to make a new channel but the new channel couldn't be about the same thing. So, does the algo recognize the channel or the person? How would the algo know? *I suspect people are making these decisions and not the algo as they claim.
It's definitely programmed into the algorithm. I'm not saying there isn't human input, but the sheer amount of man power to currate on that scale would be staggering even if it only honed in on 100k+ channels. For an idea, there are 500,000 channels at size at the moment

I really like your content and hope to see more. If I understood PROF DM’s advice about the algorithm you need viewers, comments, likes and shares in the 1st hour of the upload. Yes, later on still helps but not as much as that first hour. A quick note to your viewers: If you see what I started this comment out with, that is what any channel needs you to do. That will trigger the algorithm to recommend the video even more. I'm about as active as they get in the comments. Yes, this is hitting the mail on the head, hard. People don't understand just how sensitive the algorithm is, especially on small channels.
On point. Pretty much what Professor DM said about it. Once you get past the "click bait" titles he makes sense. His crafting and campaign videos are good, but they don't get the views the news / click bait does. People... anyway you make sense, as usual. Have a good one.

The biggest thing about Bob is he dishonest about what he is. He tries to hide behind the occasional Shadowdark or DCC video as proof he doesn't kiss WOTC's boots.
