Here's a Social Experiment that many forget. EO 9981 was foundational to integration in the USA. Too many forget that our military is Americans defending our nation. On July 26, 1948, President Harry Truman signed Executive Order 9981, which mandated “equality of treatment and opportunity for all persons in the armed services without regard to race, color, religion or national origin.” www.loc.gov/collections/veterans-history-project-collection/serving-our-voices/diverse-experiences-in-service/equality-of-treatment-and-opportunity/. "And when I say all Americans - I mean all Americans. The civil rights laws written in the early years of our republic, and the traditions, which have been built upon them, are precious to us. Those laws were dawn up with the memory still fresh in men’s minds of the tyranny of an absentee government. They were written to protect the citizen against any possible tyrannical act by the new government in this country. But we cannot be content with a civil liberties program, which emphasizes only the need of protection against the possibility of tyranny by the Government. We cannot stop there. We must keep moving forward, with new concepts of civil rights to safeguard our heritage." Pres. Truman
Wearing 2 hats. First as a Veteran and Combat Veteran everything said here is spot on plus Pete loves the Troops and will be seen by and with them something the current secretary will avoid at all costs. Now My 2nd Hat as a career law enforcement officer and investigator/crime scene investigator and Crime Scene Unit Commander. Having read the police report on the alleged sexual assault my first thought was WTF? Let’s look at the Facts laid out in the report. The (alleged) victim was married and she was accompanied by her husband and children (they were in hotel room) witnesses came forward and stated she was ‘overly flirtatious’ with Pete in a public setting. She claims to have been drugged however she is recorded on multiple security cameras and appears normal and not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. She went to her room and sometime later left her family and proceeded to Pete’s room (between 2AM and 4AM when she returned to her room her husband texted her and called her multiple times trying to find her whereabouts-he is recorded on security cameras having left the room and gone throughout the hotel common areas looking for her). Everything in the police report indicates that any encounter between her and Pete were Consensual and that is why the police report is closed as Unfounded
Sexual indiscretions with an adult who did not press charges or file a civil suit within a few weeks of an incident is a non-starter for me. There are critical things that need to be accomplished for the USA and the world. Clinton, JFK, and Trump are prime examples, who knows how many competent officers have had affairs during deployments. Object to Hegseth on reasonable basis of competency but his sexual past, unless it involves pedophilia, is grasping at straws
It might be helpful to add that Donovan Campbell is a corporate CEO, served as an officer in the USMC with 3 combat deployments, Harvard MBA, Princeton BA. Hard to imagine a more solid resume that that.
there's plenty of people in the military with resumes like that. It's easier to get into the ivies after military service especially business school and MBA's don't hold as much weight as they once did.

We’ve been “letting it go” for far too long. Toilet seats and hammers are overrated for our defense. When I saw this I thought oh great, they’ll trash him. Thank you for this.
And recruit your friends to let the Senators know you want them to approve Pete Hegseth. Put enough pressure on them and they'll start worrying about losing voters.
At 1:52 there's a reference to a $4,000 toilet seat. What he's referring to is actually about really bad accounting. On the books they took the actual price they were paying for the toilet seat and added a percentage of the total cost of the project to that. The result of this accounting was that it came up with a total that was accurate, but every line element's actual cost was badly distorted. Parts such as toilet seats, nuts and bolts, etc. were on the books at highly inflated costs as opposed to how much cash changed hands. It also hid the real costs of very expensive components and their R&D.
In the early 1980s, the inflated toilet seat cost a mere $600. At the time, Congress was hunting for off-the-book projects like MK Ultra. The public was sidelined by the toilet seats without clarification of the deeper hunt.
They can figure out how to do that, but can't pass an audit? That sounds fairly bland, but what it means is that they can't account for a huge amount of money.
So, he's been married before. DJT will be great in his second term. Oh, and has Pete Hegseth been married before, too? What has that got to do with the price of tea in Lisbon?
You should do a little more due diligence into his personal behaviors and lifestyle choices than thinking he's been divorced one time. It's a lot messier than that.
Pete Hegseth, himself, has admitted to being married three times and cheating on all three wives. His current wife was his producer at Fox with whom he was having an affair while married to his second wife. And he cheated on this producer with the now infamous married woman at a conference while both were drunk. And paid her to keep her mouth shut. These are serious examples of how he placed his own selfish wants ahead of the lives of his children and his families at the time. We need a Secretary of Defense who won't get distracted by women in the workplace. We need a Secretary of Defense with integrity and high standards who understands the importance of a military who is ready and able to protect our country on a moment's notice. Clearly, that is not Pete Hegseth. And clearly, the American people deserve better.
@@susy590 Well, clearly, it isn't what we've got now. I wonder how many of the present military "leaders", who spent our wars at a desk, shuffling paper (and failing audits), measure up to your standards. Think Afghanistan withdrawal, and those soldiers' lives lost, and many allies and some Americans left behind, and maybe some messy sexual behavior doesn't seem so bad.
Majors and LT Colonels were all staff officers ??? Majors and LT Colonels were not leaders of combat units ??? I am thinking that is not correct. I'm my Navy Squadron we had several O4's and at least 2 O5's and most were rated to fly combat missions.
Apples and Oranges comparison, in a combat ground unit there are enlisted and platoon and company grade officers (O-1 to O-3) conducting combat missions. In a Navy fighter squadron, typically O-2 to O-4 aviators fly combat missions while the enlisted are the maintainers and work the flight deck (one of the most dangerous jobs in the Navy IMHO).
I hope Donovan is right. Hegseth seems to be the only rational cabinet choice, so far. I have yet to hear anyone make the argument Hegseth should decline the nomination based on UCMJ Article 134. As a field grade officer in the National Guard and while on active duty he has admitted adultery. How does Hegseth justify sitting as SecDef and holding anyone in uniform, whether enlisted, NonCom, or commissioned, accountable under the UCMJ when he is an admitted violator (albeit never held accountable himself). This should be an internal held personal and character integrity standard. Hegseth may well be otherwise qualified and make a responsible and well regarded SecDef, but the issue should be discussed and held to public scrutiny. Otherwise, the potential for further violation and distrust will erode any credibility he may have. It’s not required to have a SECDEF with combat experience. There are far more important requirements, such as having completed as a minimum Senior Service Professional Military Education.
He likely fails every moral requirement for any high-level leadership position in the military. This is all well and good but how do you explain Hegseth's mom's email? If the guy's mom calls him an abuser, it sounded at best like a plea for her son to get medical help. Hey whatever he did for his country, that's admirable but if you're unstable you should not be serving in that job. Also it doesn't help that Hegsbeth doesn't even believe in Democracy or that Americans with views different from his deserve to live. This is Campbells friend from bible study. Lastly, Hegsbeth's views on NATO, it's as if he stopped reading about history and foreign affairs at the 8th grade level.

Yes, and I'd challenge Mr Campbell on what the "right reasons are" and whether Mr Hegseth could put his loyalty to the Constitution ahead of that toward Mr Trump? But how could we believe him even if he stated so? He's apparently a proven liar and still a binge drinker to boot. This sort of in your face nomination to arguably the largest organ of the US Government should make everyone face these questions in an honest way. Is that even possible? From a 50000' view, the whole thing reeks of synacism framed as a joke.
So, What are thoughts on democrats being able to serve this country in a military uniform honorably and in a mindset that will protect the constitution and national security of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic after Barack Hussein Obama?????? And the last 8 years..... Anyone ? Anyone ? Anyone ?
this amounts to a puff piece of propaganda. It all seems to be 'true' . except The moral principles of the Bible would not extend much to inform a career of bond trading... nor is there any evidence that combat experiences in any way adds to the ability to lead or administrate at a very high level.... Well... "he loves God" ... I know most people will claim as such, since when is that one of the prerequisites of any job, your life and loving others attests to that. So you must mean, that he believes in the same "form" of religion as you. A free country is free, we don't and have never wanted a dictator.
Agreed why in the hell is god fearing even relevant? And that dear friends, is what Christian nationalism is doing to this country. That said , I think hegSeth can make his own case before the senate.
So just ignore his mother's email about how her son is a serial abuser of women? (what happened to the bible class study?) Ignore the fact that he was removed from two veterans groups for money management and character issues? Ignore the rape issues?
2 sides to every story. Everyone should be given a 50-50 shake. To infer Pete has 'personal issues' because he has "3rd wife", ignores the real possibility of context and projects an unfair narrative. I liked this guy until he said that.
Keep in mind that he prefaced his comments with the fact that he was in a “Bible Study” with Pete in college, meaning that he is viewing his character, not in the current cultural milieu we now find ourselves but, rather, in a Biblical context. In the Christian worldview, multiple marriages is an indication of something questionable and a legitimate cause for concern as opposed to simple nitpicking. His comments regarding Hegseth’s marriage issues should be taken in context with his larger analysis.

With all due respect, most four star generals got last star because of battlefield service. I know one very well who flew over 150 sorties in Vietnam and became a four star because of that. He was on the USS Tucker, DD-374 when it was sunk after hitting a US mine entering harbor at Espirito Santo. He was a pharmacist mate and was assigned to Marine units in the South Pacific for part of the war. I wish I knew more about his time in the Navy, but he didn't like to talk about it very much.

Lastly, Hegsbeth's views on NATO, it's as if he stopped reading about history and foreign affairs at the 8th grade level.
jar did you read his mom's reason for that? probably not
@@barrywallace4415 then why is his head on the block? trump's already looking at desantis to replace him.
and the tattoos?
I did not hear him say a single thing that shows Hegseth is qualified to be Sec of Defense. In fact, he said several things indicating he is not qualified.
Retardation is a helluva drug...
Pete is ultimate Alpha Male. Sometimes to his detriment, but I would gladly take some of his personal baggage to have him as Secretary of Defense.
Shat the Generals do is tell some one lioke Pete to push forward in acun fight. Sounds like same Generals in Vietnam. Pete was expendable. His weapon is worth more to military than his life.
This is definitely a puff piece totally discounted by a friend!!! BULLSHIT!
He has NO moral compass, no managerial experience, makes poor, self focused decisions. Perhaps another narcissist?
He's also one of Trump's "Christians".
Sounds like a future Republican candidate for President.
Like Hunter?
@@MamaBear2gratkidsHunter Biden is an ass. However he is not a candidate for Secretary of Defense.
@@MamaBear2gratkids Did someone nominate Hunter for Sec Def?
Hegseth isn't the least bit qualified for the position. I'm a military vet and I approved this message.
So Hegseth’s adultery is worse than DEI policies and lack of meritocracy? Give me a break!
The military has real issues with SA abuse, why wouldn't we put a serial adulterer with SA abuse claims in charge? 🤦🤕🥴
@@docbrandy915 Uh, I didn't mention anything about adultery. Read my comment again. Sigh
@@docbrandy915 By the way...............Gabbard, Patel, RFK Jr., and the Sec of Navy pick aren't qualified either.
You must have missed all of Biden’s appointments. Men who think they are women, men who wear red lipstick everywhere.
All nice but judge people on what they do, not what they say. Pete is a serial cheater on three wives, had a child out of wedlock and a lied about it all. He still gets fall down drunk at professional events. He's not a man, he's a frat boy. No integrity, no honour, no self control or self discipline. Now, even his own mother has come out to criticize the way he treats women. Can you imagine, how bad does it have to be for his own mother to speak up, it's unimaginable. We have so much better more experienced talent, why waste that position leading one of our crown Jewel s on a dishonest, morally corrupt man. We can and must. do better.
So,
What are thoughts on democrats being able to serve this country in a military uniform honorably and in a mindset that will protect the constitution and national security of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic after Barack Hussein Obama?????? And the last 8 years.....
Anyone ?

Do you have more problems than Pete. Biden lost his beloved son to cancer he served his country.
clinton? oh,err jfk, lbj????? jimmy carter is a righteous human, but was the worst prez in history til bill, barry, and hunter came along
this amounts to a puff piece of propaganda. It all seems to be 'true' . except The moral principles of the Bible would not extend much to inform a career of bond trading... nor is there any evidence that combat experiences in any way adds to the ability to lead or administrate at a very high level.... His Bible studies seemed to serve to legitimize his moral failures. In any case he is a Trump appointee and thus is certainly lacking in both principles in expertise.....
Super shallow sales pitch for pete and the responses are the same.
Well... "he loves God" ... I know most people will claim as such, since when is that one of the prerequisites of any job, your life and loving others attests to that. So you must mean, that he believes in the same "form" of religion as you. A free country is free, we don't and have never wanted a dictator.
'he has a love of god"WTF does that mean?Whar a fraud!Sickening.
Agreed why in the hell is god fearing even relevant? And that dear friends, is what Christian nationalism is doing to this country. That said , I think hegSeth can make his own case before the senate.
Good man? That's a laugh.
Do you know men personally that have experienced combat? It is traumatic and changes you.
@@kenzahora9167 Of course. Being broken doesn't make you a better man. That's the point, isn't it? How does that qualify him to do this job?
General Milley read it and weep…..
This dude should have a neighbor check out boys who want to date his daughters because he has terrible judgement.
So just ignore his mother's email about how her son is a serial abuser of women? (what happened to the bible class study?) Ignore the fact that he was removed from two veterans groups for money management and character issues? Ignore the rape issues?
His supporter. Is looking for a job.
Good thinking!!!
You have no idea. His character? Combat Leader mindset? You need to go back to school.
He reminds me of roger stone, looks and mannerisms

@@CSUnger Inability to form a solid M/F bond is often a symptom of PTSD. People who have it are attracted to each other. Child abuse PTSD is the major form. I'm attracted to Biblical Marriage myself. Two wives.

With all due respect, most four star generals got last star because of battlefield service. I know one very well who flew over 150 sorties in Vietnam and became a four star because of that. None had alcohol problems or women's issues; that's why they got promoted. Hegseth is honorable but does not have what it takes. Many better options.
