The row over Sir Keir Starmer and his top team accepting gifts has threatened to overshadow the conference.
Angela Rayner has been criticised for staying in a flat owned by Labour donor Lord Waheed Alli while on holiday in New York, but denied breaking any Commons rules about declaring the gift.

When in the MOD all gifts were recorded in a hospitality register with the value, forwarded to HMRC to add to ones' tax assessment. So why aren't these hypocrites being taxed on their gifts. They soon targetted pensioners to make savings to reduce their £22bn black hole in agreeing substantial pay increases to public services/servants. There is no integity in this government, worse than Liz Truss.

If you receive gifts or gratuity value over 250 HMRC consider it a benefit that's taxable. However, elected politicians don't have to pay any tax on freebies, funny that.

A single person donating to more than one person and to top ranking people in the cabinet is very suspicious.....I think they should only be allowed to donate to one person not a group of them and really donations should only be made to the party funds as a whole....They will find other ways around this with brown envelopes passed under tables I expect....
Their mentality of accepting money didn't start at appointment, it demonstrates their willingness to take bribes right from the start.
