Ancient Olympia, Stadium temple of Zeus

- Visit to the archaeological site of ancient Olympia. We go to the ancient Stadium from its entrance, which was only for the rectors, athletes and heroes. The stadium of Olympia had a capacity of 45,000 spectators. Also in the Temple of Zeus, which was built in 456 BC, it is a model sample of the Doric order and inside it was preserved the most important dedication of Olympia, the golden ivory statue of Zeus. Finally, the workshop of Pheidias was preparing for the construction of the chryselephantine statue in the Temple of Zeus. Inside the workshop there are the ruins of an early Christian church.

Красиво! сколько лет стоят эти постройки.Уму не постижимо.У же в античные времена в Греции было все так развито.Даже в наше время многие страны не имеют такой инфраструктуры! Даже не могу представить сколько людей здесь было.прошло! Как будто они все еще здесь присутствуют.Такое ощущение что все это до сих пор еще живо! Как будто кожей ощущаешь присутствие людей из прошлого! А что за деревья растут вокруг?Даже в честь победителей игр ставили памятные монументы,которые стоят до сих пор! И мы можем представить как все тут происходило! Очень интересная и познавательная экскурсия! Греция чудесна! Как много истории! Спасибо!!!

Another great video on a fantastic site! Wow, this is so cool you can walk where the Olympic athletes used to go to the stadium!Best to move on before the bus tourists arrive LOL It must have been amazing to see it back then, how big the site was and all the temples up. Love these little flowers growing in the middle of the column at 6:44 :D Do you know why it was common to built chuches on old remains? Thank you for this really interesting video.

About the building of churces upon ancient ruins, first of all they did it for praktical reasons, they use the old stones materials, e.t.c. but they also respected the place and made a statment that the false pagan religion is gone and now we have a Church where we worship the true God Jesus Crist.
