I'm impressed. Jeremy Filsell has recorded the complete Vierne organ symphonies which is no easy thing but he can also masterfully handle the virtuosic piano repertoire too! Not too many organists can claim that these days.
I prepared the piano for Mr Filsell when he and Mr Potts played this recently in Sarasota, FL. It was amazing to watch and hear live...but a good church acoustic (such as this one) just doesn't support virtuoso piano playing like a good auditorium does. A lot of the success of an endeavor like this depends on the organ as well...and how well it CAN replace an orchestra. Bravo, both of you! The artistry is top-shelf...nothing can be said against that!
This post is done without thinking about the acoustics or any attempt to obtain good microphone placement. It is a real shame because this is an impressive piece of music and deserves the best. It is also extremely difficult to obtain a good recording with two such disseparate instrument. The artistic work was incredible, unfortunately the recording was a disaster. Regardless, one can obtain the sense of majesty this performance portrays. .
Unfortunately, on this recording, the acoustics of the Basilica make it very difficult to hear each instrument when they are playing at the same time. I wish I would have been there to hear the live performance.
The beginning was terrible.... not even the right tempo the melody was not on the organ. But after it was way better. Still a good interpretation. But can be way better. Organ and piano is hard on this piece.
I enjoyed listening to this. I need to find more piano-organ duets. Well done!

my 2 personal purposes of life - Rachmaninoff's 2nd concerto and the organ come together.. thank you. thank you. Wish this had a better recording.
Rachmaninov works so beautifully on organs, his chord structure is fantastic! Love this!

what is it? i understand that not all people get a chance to play with orchestra, but this combination is really a mess, with all due respect....
