Loved seeing your vinyl collection Arcadia 😊 I love Adele she’s an amazing artist, she has such a wonderful voice. I have some vinyl myself I have some newer stuff and some older stuff. I love Eminem myself he’s such a great rapper,I remember hearing loose yourself on the radio when I was younger that’s banger.

Ty for this video! I've been thinking about buying vinyls lately but I haven't taken the leap yet (and probably won't, for a while), so it was really cool to see your collection. And ofc the tapping sounds were great💕

Something to consider: It really depends on which albums you want to collect, and your plans for them. Do you just plan to collect them for the novelty of showing them off? If you never plan to use them it doesn’t matter and buy whatever you want as cheap as you can. But if you actually plan on listening to them, take heed. Most modern records-sometimes as far back as the last couple decades-is overwhelmingly mastered digitally. This sometimes (albeit not always) leads to a much less dynamic and “warm” sound. Perhaps even more troublesome, mastering records from digital sources can result in “brickwalling.” Brickwalling is where audio gets compressed so heavily to the point where it sounds flat.
If that sounds bad, it gets worse. There doesn’t seem to be much rhyme or reason as to which records will suffer and which won’t. You might love an artist, rush to buy the album, and then get frustrated when it sounds leagues worse than it does via whatever streaming method you use. So at the very least, you should join a Record Collecting forum that discusses new releases, and wait a few weeks post-release to see if they post about any issues. You can also ask questions about already released recent albums to see which ones are safe and which ones to avoid.
Having said all of that, many in the record collecting community feel that the very best vinyl today is actually better than those vintage records from yesteryear. In other words, the absolute high end is better, but it’s also much rarer.
Source: Much of my information is coming from recent discussions with my Uncle and his friend. They’re long time collectors with big record collections, and have stuff from all genres and decades.
If you do opt to collect, and appreciate and enjoy older music, keep an eye out for records pressed by Analogue Productions. It’s one of the most commonly lauded record pressers within the community. I don’t know if they still do pressings. But what they do have is great. If you like Jazz, consider picking up Dave Brubeck Quartet’s “Time Out”. I’ve heard the Analogue Productions pressing and it is truly immaculate. Another one I thought was great was Sam Cooke’s “The Best Of Sam Cooke.” Another absolute favorite of mine is Counting Crows’ “August And Everything After”. Granted, it’s also one of my favorite albums of all time, but the Analogue Productions pressing is sublime.
I hope this helps you, and maybe anyone else who reads this and has been thinking of getting into vinyl. My bottom line advice is before buying anything, do your research.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
