Good evening everyone! Welcome or welcome back to my favourite day of the week on the channel….this weeks meals of the week :) I hope you’ve all had a good week! I’ll join you down in the comments for a wee while xxx
So glad to hear you will be doing the recipe for the rumbledethumps! Never heard of it before; love the name! It sounds delicious, and it’s sounds like the ingredients are simple and inexpensive. Really looking forward to it. ❤️ Hope your dinner out tonight was good and hope the family had fun together. Love your channel. 🌹
Never thought of poaching chicken breasts , but it certainly looked a tasty dinner , my late hubbie loved Paxo Stuffing and after 34 years , I grew to like it too , that certainly would make me a Christmas Day dinner with the addition of cranberry sauce and bread sauce , last year I was loaded with COVID and just about managed tea and toast on Christmas Day 😮❤😮❤😮
Hi Cheryl it’s only me from down south - I hope you’re okay and keeping well ~ I’ve had a great week but it’s been very quiet - on a chat show last week somebody was saying that the days go so slowly but the week goes so fast I felt that very true this week ~ Your meals always look and sound so so tasty !!!!!! ~ one of my friends went to Scotland for a long weekend and said that she has never been to anywhere that has such stunning scenery she said it was beautiful ~ I hope you have a good week and looking forward to your next Vlog/video ~ sending lots of love and hugs ~ Xxx Xxx
Another great video! I just made Rumbledethumps this past week from another UA-camr's video that popped up in my Feed and loved it so much I immediately searched the videos at your Channel Page to see if I should recommend this for you as a dish to show us your version. I watched your video from 6 years ago! It was charming as ever, but I can also feel how much more relaxed and conversational you have become over the years. Your earliest videos are all from 6 years ago, so I'm guessing that now that you've heard from so many viewers it's more like talking to friends rather than just putting something out there and not knowing if anyone will watch! We're watching and loving every video! Thank you! ❤ Looking forward to seeing your updated Rumbledethumps video!
Delicious meals Cheryl. The mini roast dinner yum, both the fish dishes loveky I've nit had ravioli in ages so might have to remedy that 1. All your meaks this week I could happily eat as I like everything!! Didbt win the competition but we'll done to the winner ( love the look of the rumblethumbs never heard of it but looks so tasty)
I so love simple meals, both for making & for eating. My husband doesn't like food that is too fussy. I use your weekly dinners to help inspire my weekly meal planning, here in Au.
That chicken dinner on Monday looked so delicious, I’d love to know how you poach your chicken. Love mashed swede, glad you didn’t call it turnip. I’m a new subscriber so have spent some time today looking at older meals of the week videos. Love them
Hi Cheryl, your meals of the week all looked fabulous as always, loved the look of everything, but both your chicken dinner & poached cod looked delicious!😋 Hope you all enjoyed your ‘carvery meal’ today, & no pile of dishes to wash up!🧼👍 Congrats to the completion winner, I didn’t realise there was a competition happening, obviously missed the announcement when my iPad was away for repair. Hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday & have a great week ahead. Take care & thanks 🙏 as always for sharing! xx 👩🏻🍳😋🍽️👌💕💞🩷
Cheryl, these meals look so delicious. I am so looking forward to the rumbledethumps recipe. It looks like a boiled dinner in casserole form. YUM! Hope you all are well. Have a great week.
Oh that roast dinner looked heavenly. I don't have an air fryer, just an electric cooker. We used to have an Aga though which did delicious roasties, par boiled as you do, which makes all the difference.
aw man, Cheryl! I'm dying here. I have been doing keto diet since February and the one thing I miss are potatoes!!! ALLL of your potatoes look so delicious! .... sigh.... I am off to eat my balls of doom.
They really exist because most British people want a full Sunday dinner, and now a days everyone doesn’t want to go to the bother of cooking one.A full Sunday dinner is usually a joint of beef, lamb, pork,or a chicken, with roast potatoes, lots of different vegetables,Yorkshire pudding, and lots of gravy.I haven’t had one for about 50 years, and I don’t miss them, never really liked them, except the roast potatoes.I got use to the American diet very quickly.😊
I’ve just found your channel. Nice to see good wholesome food. Are you in Dunure? I’m just along the coast in Stranraer. Looking forward to watching you on a regular basis.
I love a white sauce with fish. I have made roasties in my air fryer but to be honest Cheryl I prefer them done in the oven, I find the roasties quite dry done in the air fryer. Have you had any problems buying a ham haugh recently for soup? I was looking for one in Tesco and was told that they don't stock ham haugh anymore but couldn't tell me why. x
I'm always surprised when you make a chicken dinner with dressing and gravy that you don't use mashed potatoes. In Canada that is the usual roast chicken or roast turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy and mashed turnip.
Hi Cheryl, lovely meals again especially the chicken and rumbledethumps! How long do you poach the chicken breast for - is it just in seasoned water? I will try to cook these & look forward to your updated recipe. Thank you.
Hiya 🙂 I just simmer them in seasoned water...sometimes I'll add half an onion or a couple of cloves of garlic to the water too. I simmer them slowly for an hour or so x
Please add the recipe for the Tuscan tomato sauce with the ravioli . You had shared a sauce earlier with chicken , but it called for a seasoning packet that I could not find. (I prefer the scratch seasoning blends anyhow.)
Can you please tell us how you achieve mashed swede as I tried it & it didn't work out too well. Not sure if I didn't boil it long enough or what happened.
Things have changed,as when I grew up in the late ‘40s,50’s we ate a lot of fish, and not from a fish, and chip shop, also tinned fish, salmon, sardines, pilchards, something called soft roe,and towards the 60’s tuna started appearing. We ate fish paste, crab paste, and shrimp paste on sandwiches, which we didn’t call sarnies,as I hear people call them now. 😊
I think there is a place for poaching chicken, chicken salad is much better with poached chicken, also if you add it to things like casserole s. It is better poached when making soups, though for me I would bake it when having it on a plate with potatoes, and vegetables, but each to their own .
Good evening everyone!

@@dattaxpony920 Thank you! 😘

Rumbledethumps looks like bubble and squeak - or, as our mam used to call it - a fry-up!
In my family a fry up is cooked breakfast, which you have bubble and squeak with if night before tea has leftover mash and greens
@@Sheila-ph6js My mam often made what she called a “fry-up” from the leftover Sunday lunch for Monday lunch!
Agree fry up or bubble and squeek usually on a Monday with left over vege from the Sunday dinner with a fried egg.
Not had that in years 😊
Mmm, the Rumblebump looks delicious! And I love fresh fish - if only we had more of it available where I live. Have a great week, Cheryl 😊🤗

For a chicken dinner i always stuff the chicken breast with the stuffing and wrap in a slice of bacon and pop in oven beautiful 😍

Omg ..your food looks delicious love xx
Yum!😊
Hope to see what you have at the carvery! I think most of us Americans would be surprised to learn that such a thing as a carvery exists ;)

@@WhatsForTeaThanks for the advice - I'll definitely try this way of cooking chicken!
I've had rubledethump in the past but without the ham.

Is there a recipe for the poached cod? Loved all of these menus, they look so delicious! ❤
Rumbledethumps- new one on me but looks scrummy - could just have that on its own
Can you please tell us how you achieve mashed swede as I tried it & it didn't work out too well. Not sure if I didn't boil it long enough or what happened.
I’m so hungry 🥰👍🌻🇨🇦🇨🇦
Britain doesn't eat very much fish, for being an island. The nhs recommends at least 2 portions of fish a week.
was the fished poached in buttermilk and garlic or butter, milk and garlic? i heard a pause between butter and milk 😄 Thank you looks delicious.
Hi where did you go for your carvery ? X

What is the Sweden? Monday
It’s a Swede,same as a rutabaga.
@@JanetBrown-px2jn so you boil and mash it like potatoes or turnip? Thanks.
@@freebeacher That is correct.😀
Why do you poach the chicken? It doesn't seem right imo. The rest of the meal looked great though.
Keeps it moist instead of drying out.
@@valeriewright8686 Not for me, eggs yes meat it's a no, just a bit of constructive criticism take it or leave it.
