Niiiiiiice. I knew this would happen eventually, whether Creality wanted it or not!
I'm ROOT. Where is my likes?
You earned at LEAST 1 ;)
@@3DPrintSOS oh, thank you for my work.
YOU ARE A LEGEND for translating this. My review of the K1 was basically going to be "DO NOT BUY THIS the software SUCKS" - and now your video will be my #1 recommendation for the printer ;)
The software is SOOO limiting. This blows it wide open. LET THE COMMUNITY EAT. haha. :)
Just a note: I have used both the screen and the Fluidd interface back and forth and have had no problems. The only small issue so far is that you won’t see the print progress on the built in screen if you launch through fluidd. Not a big deal.
That’s good to know. I’m only hesitant because on my xplus3 experience. It’ll replace some zoffset values if you switch
Kudos to the community for enforcing the Klipper licensing agreement when Creality didn't. Creality could have hidden the advanced features where noobs wouldn't find them and provide a Reset To Factory Settings option on the K1's user interface to save noobs who went astray and to make it easier for Creality to support the K1.
Thanks for the shoutout at 13:30
I just uploaded the universal extruder adapter model to Printables, just look up "Creality K1 Universal Extruder Adapter"
Printing it now! Thanks Nathan. Keep on modding on.
K1 has a new extruder and can apply for a replacement
All the shit is sewn into klipper itself, into python executable files that cannot be replaced without ftp access, so this is only access to half of the configs.
We need to figure out how to put a clean version of klipper there.
Yay a new video. I am starting to warm up to the k1. I am not a creality fan but I do like that one. I wanted the ender 5 s1 but from what I have seen it was an under performer. I just wish a decent core xy wasn't so expensive here in Canada. Maybe the k1 will eventually go down in price in the near future. One can hope.
What about the p1p?
Good work, the K1 might have some real potential now.
For sure. I think so too!
I have a ton of flawless prints that say it is without full klipper. A nice modification though.
@@zincyellowmach1523 not saying it’s bad without it. Just nice to have all of the machine you bought. Know what I mean?
can anyone just upload these files to some place where I dont have to get a shitty telegram account and some app for it?
It had to happen! Now it needs hacking so the stock vanilla Klipper can be installed
Great stuff. Now we aren’t dependent on Creality for improving the firmware. All that we need now is a good slicer integration.
Another video idea, integrating MobileRaker.
If there is a usb connecter on the board is it possible to hook it up to the Sonic Pad? And the slicer is in Chinese, so I need a profile for Cura ?I also have an E3v2 and a CR6-se both on the Sonic Pad. Love the content. Thanks.
Is the goal just to be able to use the Sonic pad vs web interface?
@@3DPrintSOS I just want to control all my printers from one IP address, and I love the Sonic Pad. I think there is a USB port on the main board. I don't want to be the first one to try. And thank you for the response. Love the content
@@philipthurston7860 There's a USB port on the front of the K1, or you could unplug it and run a cable a different direction, or there seems to be a second USB port on the board we'd have to solder a header for.
Pretty sure none of them will work to talk to the microcontroller, though. We'd need to set up some kind of USB serial driver and virtually connect it to the microcontroller's serial port to really make this work. And it's worse than that, there are actually three MCUs, the main one, the extruder board and the bed leveling board (and the pad probably wouldn't have any idea how to talk to the latter two on it s best day). If anyone wants to donate me a Sonic pad, I'll give it a shot though.
NIIICEEE!!!! Good job to both of you! Now…figure out Bambu.. hahaha.
Thanks Fedor! That was s pretty much the last thing on the checklist for me!
Excellent!
The 30 PAINT T shirt looks good.
Does anyone know if this works exactly as documented on a K1 Max?
This is the way....... to earn my subscription...
Heyyyoooo. I’m just giving back to the community. As I always have. ;)
After some back-and-forth with Creality support, the final response is: "Sorry, k1 is not yet available with Klipper/Fluidd firmware. If your printer is not faulty, we do not have the right to replace your motherboard. I'm sorry."
So:
1) motherboard firmware can NOT be rolled back to an earlier version
2) they will not replace an otherwise working motherboard in order to install an earlier firmware
3) "not yet" available - means unlocked Klipper/Fluidd may be available in the future?
Contemplating whether I want to keep the printer now, or put it out for sale in almost-new condition (now with an AI camera installed). I have a Prusa Mk4 shipping later this month (allegedly), and it might be better for me to focus on making friends with that machine.
Thanks. If I need one this moves it my list
GREAT VIDEO, GHANKS
Really wish you had linked to the files. Cant find them in his description or on his telegram page.
Check my latest video on this, it’s a clip from a livestream. No need for the files anymore. ;)
Thank You! I did some researching and found a full instruction on octoprint everywheres site. @@3DPrintSOS
What OS are they using?
Actually I have just been advised by Creality Tech that it will be able to integrate with the Creality Sonic pad which can access Moonraker, Mainsail or Fluid Full Access & Console, Macros everything. So in a Nutshell it's not needed. And why you would want to push motors etc to their limit potentially burning them out is Stupid. I already have a CR-10 Smart Pro running this and will have a K1 Max + CR10 Smart Pro running on Sonicpad with Klipper on Moonraker with full access.
I own both and have endlessly tried to make them work. No luck. The issue is that the K1 has everything integrated and runs from its own MCUs. And the creality Sonic Pad is meant to add an MCU to other machines, like your CR10. There is a conflict when you try to use both on the K1.
@@3DPrintSOS That is True but that is because that have not officially released a firmware update and release for the K1 series as yet and won't be until around September after the August International Release of the K1 Max System which has a host other feature that the K1 speedy does not. Also My CR10 Smart Pro Runs the 32bit TMC2208 Main board the K1 & K1 Max run the 32Bit TMC2209 Mainboards. K1 Max having a few extra upgrades and firmware variance. All it takes for the K1 to be integrated with external SonicPad usage is a Firmware Coding Upgrade. Which just like the CR10 Smart was 3 months after its release had access to the Sonicpad. Then MCU in the K1 are 1 version newer than the CR10 Smart Pro and also that the K1 shares the exact same LCD screen the CR10 SP does. Reports I been told by R& D is it will be able to run by the Sonicpad by mid September. Once firmware and OS gets their updates
@@CHRIS_CREATIONS Awesome. That’s a win win for those that have both and want to use one pad for all their machines.
Has Creality committed to opening the system up?
Yes, after this push, they released root access
great thanks
As far as I can tell, on machines shipping now, they've either moved to something other than NGINX, or renamed a bunch of stuff and moved it around. Tried to Chmod to show hidden files in the source folders, but no luck. Moonraker's folders are missing, as well.
SSH login via HTML + Method A and Root + vanilla PW still work, but Fluidd/Mainsail seem out of reach, for the moment. 😮💨
There is a trick out there to downgrade firmware. That will let you get it all back. Looks like they hot fixed the exploit. :/
All I want to know is with the default print speed of 300/ mm and a top speed of 600/ mm, if I got one of these and put clipper on it, did pressure advance and input shaping, would I be able to overcome the slight ringing and other problems such as overhangs at the 300 mm speed? Basically can I make the thing go faster and look better by running clipper? I got to go fast man. That's all I care about these days with 3D printers. I don't have time to sit around.
Good!!! Maybe creality will see we want this and will just add it like u said in a advance tab.. like if u have a sonic pad u have this options... Sigh.. I assume u need to factory restore to update firmware?? Or too soon to tell or will they fix the exploit?
I havent seen anyone else needing to restore like I did. But I have a preproduction machine, so that kind of makes sense.
Hello, can you share your printer.cfg file?
Yes russians hacked it, but without replacing belts, pulleys this printer is crap
Does not work with latest update. Do not update your printer if you want to keep control.
I can confirm. ^
This is a great hack, but i have not yet decided if I should get a K1.. because it would be my 4th printer. Now what i want is NOT use the built in Klipper, but use my own. I have an I5, with 32 gigs of ram and 500GB SSD, that runs linux and 4 instances of klipper. I would want to have my 4th printer run on the same machine, monitor it with the same wireless android tablet with klipperscreen, and be able to switch in the browser between the printers in mainsail. For now I can also monitor all 3 printers from the outside through my phone, connecting to the computer in the basement via something similar to anydesk and have full access from work. (also to the webcams)
If i cannot install a classical Klipper on it (running via my linux computer) then this printer is not for me. That is for me the main question: Is it possible to overwrite the existing firmware to be able to use it with klipper like any other printer (be it a creality, flsun or prusa). I understand i could not use the existing control pad etc... just curious if it would be possible.
Luc
It is not yet possible to overnight the firmware. Although that might change sometime soon. I will see if I can get it to connect to a SonicPad
@@3DPrintSOS Cant wait to see that.. if it connects to the sonic pad.. it will probably also connect to any other klipper device. Let us know, even if it fails. Sounds a very interesting experiment!!!
Luc
@@FreeEnergyNerd It's doubtful it'll be able to. There are three MCUs, the main one for motors etc, the bed leveling MCU and the extruder MCU. We'd have to export all three of them for example over usb serial and then the problem is that most instances of klipper don't know how to deal with the load cell based bed leveling on that dedicated MCU. There are some hacks we'll be able to do with full klipper slaving one to the other but not with the more opaque Sonic Pad most likely.
I'm having issues where when you hit option A or B, it says Payload Sent but nothing else. SSH wont connect with Creality password
Yep, this is what I referring to in the beginning of the video. You need to manually upload the gcode file to your machine, and “print it”. Nothing will happen but when you refresh the HTML dock and try again, you will get root access
@@3DPrintSOS finally got it working! Thank you for such a great video!! :)
uggg... I hate telegram! 😡
No worries. This one is outdated. I have a newer. Video on how to do this using Creality’s Own firmware
Dont work for me.😢
I would try the manual method. But they also could patched it.
Yes, everything is already defined. You would just obtain the power to modify it however you’d like. But if you leave it alone, it will behave just like a stock machine.
Big oof. My K1 max came today and auto updated to fix "bugs" aka change root password. Has anybody cracked this or will they? I only purchased it thinking it would be unlocked.
Hell, I'm pissed half of my creality print "portal" is in chinese.... LOL I can only understand about 1/3 of what's even going on in the interface
Oh how sweet it is! Just got it working. Thanks brother!
Great to hear! I’m sure this is just the beginning for this platform. :)
I’m hoping this will apply to the CR-10 SE either now or in the future.
As soon as Creality stops calling it Creality OS and releases it as Actual Klipper because it is…klipper. Then we will have this. :)
@@3DPrintSOS, whenever Creality Live Streams, I will keep mentioning giving us full Klipper. I need full control but do not want the hassle of modding hardware.
Will this work on an Ender 3 V3 KE?
Hi! mine in k1 v1.3.1.14 have any chance ?
mines just cleared my bank account out
Haha they do that time from time
After the 1.2.9.22 firmware update, the S50nginx file is no longer present in the /etc/init.d/ directory.
was rooted, but was having issues with printer so i had to reset it last night. now for some reason im unable to root again? I cant ssh to the printer?
If you reset the machine, you have to do the hack again to get SSH access
@3DPrintSOS I did try the hack. Wouldn't allow me to root again. Finally figured it out. Had to go into my user files on my computer under my profile, find the ssh file that was created from the first time, and delete that file. Then I was able to root again easily.
@@STRRAYNGE Nice tip. Thanks. I had returned my first K1 and was attempting on the new one and ran into this.
Please note that the latest K1 firmware update overwrites your exploit
How can I find out the port for my K1 IP address. It's no longer the 4408
I think creality updated to fix this I’ve been going back and fourth from videos with no luck it keeps saying access denied I also keep getting a pop up from winscp that something about the host has changed compared to their cache so idk if u can relook into this or if anyone could give me advice
Did they patch this in the latest firmware? It denies the password.
Yep. I just put out a post about it. We got patched. :/
@@3DPrintSOS Thats ridiculous, creality is really missing the boat on this one. I wonder about downgrading.
Hi, I'm from Mexico, I love your channel. I have a little problem, excuse me for writing it here, although it has nothing to do with creatility, I have an aquila s2 and I installed Alex's firmware, but now I would like to go back to the official voxelab firmware, I just can't find the official dwin_set for the display, do you know where I can get it? Beforehand thank you very much.
K1 is good .
Can anyone confirm if they managed to get this to work with the K1 Max? If so, which firmware version and password did you use?
It looks like creality changed the password in their latest update. Can't implement it now. 😭
this happens when you need to manually upload the gcode to the machine and run in. then re open the html doc and try method a again.
@@3DPrintSOS Ok. I'll give it another go. Thanks for your pointer 👍
It did work with Method B ! Thank you for your guidance. 👍🙂
Awesome. Good to hear.
This awesome work guys!! Does that mean we would change the Gcode flavor to Klipper instead of CrealityOS?
Thanks for making me aware and able to read the descriptions(also thanks to them smart russian boys of course).
What firmware version has this been tested on? Is this patchable from Crealitys side and if so, can it be locked tight or will there always be an easy way like this?
My K1 is still on the way, hopefully coming this weekend. Payed 540€ for it, can't complain. :)
Whichever is the current latest is what I tried it on. Yes, technically they can patch the edits, however, you would have to update knowingly and I’m not sure they are going to want to deal with the backlash.
@@3DPrintSOS Yeah, I found earlier that their update images are passworded 7z files, took 2mins to find the password in @k3d's dump. Inside is a squashfs of the root partition which is mountable and thus `diff` and friends can be used.
Interesting to see where this will lead us to in the future.
@@3DPrintSOS I was told that have prevented this version of the hack.
@@petercallison5765 The password on the latest version was changed, so it does not work.
Giving credit to a Russian at the moment is wrong
Just because someone is Russian doesn't make them evil or not deserving of credit! I was born in a country that was a part of the Soviet Union. Does that make me a communist?
Fantastic! I've been so frustrated having no control over my K1. I'd already gained ssh access (tx to K3D) but didn't know what to do with it! Thanks so much
Will a firmware update undo this do you know? Just got notice of one
Yes, it will. The update seems to remove access.
@@3DPrintSOS How very short sighted of Creality. Guess I'll not be installing it, at least for now
@@3DPrintSOS do you know where to download the previous version? I did the update and want to rollback so I can get Fluidd again.
creality is wrong Password
It the root password on the machine. If you are getting that message, you didn't get root access. You need to manually upload and launch the gcode file, refresh the HTML doc and try method A again. I mentioned this in the video. ;)
Thank you,
Please note that this exploit does not work with the K1 Max.
The root password is NOT creality.
Please let me know what the password is for the root of K1 Max
Unfortunately, it seems as though Creality patched this exploit. So if you are on a recent version of firmware, it is likely patched.
@@3DPrintSOS K1 Max has not have a firmware update. The root password is different than K1.
@@3DPrintSOS Would stock klipper be able to control the lidar on the K1 Max?
Does this password work instead of "creality"? I've ordered a K1 Max and don't want to be forced to use Creality's UI.

Hi Ramin, did you manage to get it working with the K1 MAX?
@3DPrintSOS It's much easier to use Pico as the text editor in the Terminal as it's going to be more WYSIWYG / familiar (it's built into macOS) vs the antiquated Vi. Hope that helps ya'll
WYSIWIG would be awesome! Thanks for the tip.
Is it possible to download the files without telegram?
@3dprintsos The latest K1 firmware update appears to have broken this solution. Do you have a workaround to get root on the new version, or do you know where to get the .img for the previous firmware that will work with the exploit?
That’s true. Just posted about this warning people. No sadly, there’s no fix yet.
Yup. Just tried lastnight and it didn't work. :/
@@MachineChrist6 😕
I just got it working. Not sure what I did but I gave it one last try. Not sure what firmware I'm on atm.
The default root password is known, no exploits needed. They did remove nginx and fluidd web interface not just disable them in the latest version you'll need to roll back to the previous version, which you can do. For future versions we'll want to readd them ourselves.
You are the man, thank you! 🙏
Happy to help!
@@3DPrintSOS Well Creality knows about the extruder and hotend issues but has decided to deny me the replacement parts. Scummy company.

another reason i can think of why creality won't give you full access: if you run input shaper, it shows you recommended accelerations. out of the box it recommended me 4300mm/s², after taking the printer apart and fastening every screw i got 9300mm/s², which isn't slow but far from the advertised 20k
Wait, you took it apart and reset the screws and tightness yourself ?

Ordered a k1 this is going to happen on day 1
Any ideas on getting obico going?
Knowing this was possible (thanks to this video) is what put me over the edge to go ahead and order the K1.
Thanks for making this video!!!
I had been interested in the K1 - but I didn’t want to be limited by Creality’s limited Klipper firmware.
I just recently Klipperized my E3 Pro and am running it with a BTT Pad 7. Added a Sprite Pro to it and a glass bed. Klipper made such a huge improvement on the way that machine runs that I decided I needed it on all my other printers going forward.
I’ll be installing Klipper on my Voxelab Aquila (which I purchased based on your videos on this channel about 3 years ago! 😅 ). My Aquila will also be getting the same hotend setup as the E3P.
That should keep me busy until my K1 arrives😁
it dosent work anymore
Permission denied! Says wrong password for me
That means you haven’t gotten root access. You need to close the html doc, reopen and try again. Upload the gcode, open it on the machine, then try method a. Wait for a success message.
@@3DPrintSOS it comes up with “Payload sent! New SSH credentials should be:

Putty was the issue, didn’t know windows has ssh so that worked perfectly.
Ah you just needed to reconnect. A good refresh of everything does at well. Ive run into this too. Glad you got it.
Can i use this for a Ender 7
🤔
Klipper uses the GPLv3, so someone should sue Creality over this. Considering the license, every user should be given not only the source, but also the opportunity to change the software, i.e. Creality should actually provide root access (or the equivalent need to flash your own firmware from the source code they have to share) to flash your own OS (or at least your own Klipper). That you need to use a hack for this is just bonkers. We really need an active GPL legal tank going after abuses like this.
China gonna China
That's not what the GPL requires. They just have to give out their source code, not root access, sadly.
Yup. Don’t think they have though.
@@destinal_in_reality Please check the GPL v3 license. It requires that you give the user the possibility to replace the GPL v3 code by his own modified version. It's why companies normally steer away from it. LGPL v2 is relatively fine for commercial use, but v3 is a problem, even the LGPL flavour as it still requires allowing the user to place in his own DLLs or SOs.
THANK YOU!!!!!
Absolutely! :)
@@3DPrintSOS The link doesn't seem to go to the HTML Exploit?

Tip: in vi to delete a single character, the command is x. No need to go into insert mode with the i command. Knowing the basic key commands of vi can save your (unix) live in some cases (especially if visual editing isn't working and you need to make change in single line editing mode), so I'd advise anyone to just learn the basics ...
Oh thats a great tip! Would have saved some time for sure. This was the first time Ive used vi. I have almost always used nano, but it wasnt installed and that was more complex that it needed to be so I stuck with googling and figuring it out. :)
or just position the cursor over the character you want to delete and press the delete button. and you can combine the write and quit commands ex: :wq and if you want it to do it in a hurry add the explamation mark ex: :wq!
Oh that’s awesome. I had no idea. Haha thanks.
God I hate VI, when I get mine in, I’ll use nano. Very informative tutorial though. Hooyah
You want change your software with something russian hackers send you..?? Ok🙄😜
Chinese hackers + Russian hackers. it all cancels out. haha. I had a friend of mine check the code for me. nothin malicious and all is local. Only asks for the root string of the machine. The rest of the code is Java script and html for the little interface they coded. Im Russian myself, so that part doesn’t bother me much. Hackers…well that’s different. You can copy and paste the code into chatGtp and ask it what it all does.
K3D (Dmitry, the author of the exploit) is the pillar of RU 3d-printing community and probably the best 3d-printing channel in the world. He is not a hacker, he is a helicopter engineer.
Now you need some videos tongo along with it how you have used this to improve your machine.
Esteps cal etc
Great work man! And all involved who got it working!
Yep, I will probably tackle that at some point. Calibrations for klipper should be the same on any machine running klipper. Thats the best part. The control of the features are essentially universal.
