      Psychosis can be caused by a lot of things. She reverses cause and effect and makes up that brain disease is the cause of itself. And that love does not heal. She makes up that the power of love is a lie but that communication, which is how we actually love, matters. This woman speaks in empty rhetoric and mind numbing cliches. Functional families share who they are with one another and understand we all need to be seen, felt and heard. It is amazing he never shared the truth with his family not once. This is amazing. This woman is not amazing. Very limited. Suicidal people often have families they can share their reality with. Dysfunctional families often have rigid unspoken rules and rigid roles and a chief control freak who controls communication. They tend to think in terms of all or nothing thinking and don’t talk about the abuse. This mother has not reckoned with crap.

I think she has been very brave and selfless through the numerous talks she has given to try and educate people about mental illness, suicide and mass shooting. She could have moved and faded into the background. She never sprawls of her husband or her other son, giving them privacy. She has chosen to share her very personal life to help others. For this, Sue Klebold has my utmost respect.

    the amount of pain this woman had to go through is unbelievable. It's her child who she gave birth to, raised and loved unconditionally. Her sweet little boy turned out to be a monster who destroyed so many lives. Dylan left such a big burden for her to carry for the rest of her life. Unbelievable how she managed to stay strong and be so reflected about this absolutely horrible topic.

    So crazy that he went to prom just 3 days before the massacre happened. Which means, he went to prom, knowing he was gonna be killing people that were there. Maybe even his date, and the friends they went with. From what I've gathered, they were gonna try blowing up the cafeteria, so the library would fall on top of all the kids IN the cafeteria, knowing some of their friends were gonna be in there. So they didn't care if people they were good friends with were gonna be killed.

    The 90’s were different, kids had a lot more freedom then they do now. Parents trusted the kids more and generally that was fine. Sue had a tragic case of the world starting to change and none of the parents were prepared for it. They had not altered the parenting to the new world. Sadly he slipped through the cracks, and she missed a lot that MANY 90’s parents would have also missed. For the most part I think parents try to be more involved these days.

    The journals the two boys kept were completely different in their tone and showed a drastic difference between both boys and a destructive dynamic. Eric Harris’s journal was all violence, swatstikas, weapons, along with who he hated and why he thought they deserved to die. Dylan on the other hand drew hearts and spent a great deal of time ruminating over and lamenting his inability to find true love.
    What was unnerving about this was that Dylan and Eric weren’t society’s rejects, poor students, or the children of criminals or broken homes. Both these boys came from middle class gentrified families
    Susan Klebold is unique in the fact that she fully accepts Dylan’s crimes and legacy. She doesn’t engage in victim blaming or avoidance or evasion of what Dylan did. She openly admits her son was a mass murderer because he was seriously ill and they failed to recognize it and get him proper help

    I have suicidal thoughts AND homicidal thoughts. Its more common among suicidal people than you think. Its just even harder to talk about and get help for. I tried to talk to my therapist about it and they instantly just think you are a threat or they have to warn others. Ok I get you need to be caucious BUT I cant talk and get help for it if you may call the police cause you assume WANTING and WILL DO are the same. Unfortunately most so called professionals dont know how to deal with.

      I honestly think that in this world , everybody have suicidal thoughts at some point in their life. Some are strong but the weak ones tend to harm people around them. As you said when you talk to your therapist about it they instantly think that you're a threat instead of helping you and that's just sad.

    • @soeinstein7601
      @soeinstein7601 7 років тому +8

      kane Fatima I think there is a difference between depression that causes suicidal thinking, and a mentally healthy person going through a hard time and thinking that they are incredibly overwhelmed. And certainly one thought about "Well, what would happen if I'd just die now" isn't the same thing either.
      I don't think that everyone is suicidal at some point in their life, not everyone is mentally ill.
      Depression is an illness and there is still not enough help out there for the people who actually suffer from it.

    • @famatu
      @famatu 7 років тому

      So ein Stein Very well said. The thought of dying alone would instantly lead to a horrible feeling for a healthy person, while a mentally deseased person would feel relief from all the sadness from the thought of dying alone. I think when people say they have thought about suicide, the general idea of suicide or the thought of yourself dying but rather as a scenario is ment and not really the thought of dying to be freed from whatever worries you. I hope you get my point.

    • @soeinstein7601
      @soeinstein7601 7 років тому

      Fabio Matu
      Maybe it's because of a language barrier (I'm German), but I never heard someone saying they thought about suicide when they actually thought about the scenario of being dead. I think suicide is a term that is used in a much more alarming context, especially a context of depression, a very dark time in someone's life or a traumatic event.
      Healthy people who are going through a hard time and are overwhelmed and exhausted. Maybe at some point they think: "oh some people commit suicide" But every healthy Person immediately rejects this thought. I wouldn't consider that suicidal. People who seriously think of suicide as an option worth considering, that is what I'd call suicidal.
      It's dangerous to generalize something as awful as suicide and depression. It's incredibly important to differentiate when you talk about it.

    • @famatu
      @famatu 7 років тому

      So ein Stein Na gut, das macht es etwas einfacher :D Was ich meinte ist genau das. Dass psychisch gesunde Leute eventuell während einer sehr schlechten Phase zwar über Selbstmord nachdenken, jedoch nie ernsthaft, sondern eher als Szenario; im Sinne von :"Naja, wer würde mich schon vermissen?" oder "Ich müsste mich nie wieder mit meinem Alltag rumschlagen". Ich weiß nicht, ob wirklich gut rüberkommt, was ich meine, aber im Endeffekt ist es einfach nur folgender Unterschied: eine psychisch gesunde Person denkt niemals ernsthaft darüber nach, sich umzubringen, aus welchem Grund auch immer - es ist nur ein Fantasiespiel - während eine suizidale Person den Selbstmord ernsthaft in Betracht zieht, als eine bessere Alternative zum eigenen Leben. Der Alltag wird so unerträglich, dass dieser Person die Möglichkeit des Nicht-Denken-Müssens als bessere Alternative erscheint. Ich denke, dass wir uns da ziemlich einig sind. Mich interessiert in letzter Zeit aber viel eher die Frage, wie Depressionen und Suizidalität zu Mordgedanken werden. Offensichtlich gibt es da einen starken Zusammenhang, denn 2% aller Selbstmorde in den USA werden zusammen mit Morden begangen.

I am not saying we should be paranoid what I really mean is that we should be very cautious of any boy, any girl, any man, and any woman who possesses any dangerous weapons because it is a matter of time before they start going on a deadly rampage which they will end up harming & murdering innocent people. Also they will harm themselves which would lead them to commit suicide. Hi. I am coming from a place of love for this grieving mother. I have no idea what it must feel like to be in her shoes. How much do we know of Dahmer's mom or Hitler's mom, right?!? I can say, however, that this kid raised in upper middle class Colorado must have experienced some sort of trauma. Trauma is the leading cause for pathology. I am a Licensed Therapist, and my clients are not all necessarily pathological. The one factor in those that are, however, is trauma. Mental, physical and psychological trauma cause extreme pathology in the majority of cases. Cutting is an indicator of self injurious behavior that can also indicate homicidal tendencies. There is quite a fine line between suicidal and homicidal tendencies if you ask a forensic Psychologist or Psychiatrist. The fact that neither family group picked up on their children's behavior or impulses is alarming, frankly.

Especially if the cause is chemical or hormonal (I dont know what causes it for me). I do have reasons why I feel rage but its overly intense and taking my anger out on something doesnt relieve me. I feel taking it out on WHO im enraged by and thats people. It also makes me lack empathy and I get verbally abusive.

    I understand she wants to think of her son as being as innocent as she raised him, but Dylan was not as innocent as his mother wants us to think. Whether he was truly bullied or not, it's very clear Dylan did his own bullying - killing students & a teacher, & injuring many other students for the rest of their lives, that's not the sign of a victim, that's a KILLER. If he truly suffered from depression, he found his outlet. I resent that his mother here "paints" a picture of her son that he was some harmless & innocent kid, every parent wants to think of their children as being innocent. He had friends, a girlfriend, a family that loved him, he even went to his prom, these are important & basic necessities a lot of us don't have & we still turn out decent, good people. Reading his journals, looking at his drawn pictures, his videos; Dylan Klebold suffered more than depression, he suffered from hate. Just because people suffer from a mental or emotional disorder, doesn't give them an excuse to kill people. Eric & Dylan didn't decide in 24 hours they were going to kill people, this was a ONE YEAR PLAN with a lot of preparations. They knew what they were doing, depression or not; whether they were bullied or not, they were KILLERS, that's worse.

    Always keep in mind killers have a choice and enough time to change their minds after thinking about all the destruction and pain they will cause. So a lot of times killing is done by a made up mind, no if ands are buts! Also if my child had did this horrendous act I would constantly be thinking about all the lives my son destroyed and not "woe is my son" and I miss him. This is all she says at all the speeches she's done. Plus she said she didn't believe in evil, wow. To boot she keep acting like he committed suicide over nothing but it was really over selfishness!

    • @FBD36
      @FBD36 5 років тому

      Exactly. Narcissistic Sue Klebold is doing it for the money. As long as Sue Klebold can keep blaming everyone else and protray her son Dylan and herself as victims and also claim she is doing it all under the guise of mental illness & suicide awareness then she can keep milking that cash cow for more money. That’s what it is all about, money. Sue Klebold found a way to scam sleeping sheep for money out of a horrible and sad tragedy her son committed all because he sought revenge for not getting what he wanted. For being rejected when he thought he was entitled and led to believe by his mother that he lived in a world where everyone loved & accepted him. Sue built a false reality for her son. Sue Klebold’s other son Byron was a hardcore drug addiict throughout his entire teenage yesrs-all the way through adulthood. Absolutely pathetic.

      She has been asked before. She basically nicely said that she doesn't disagree with the mindset of doing background checks, but it's not an issue she is going to get behind as she doesn't believe it's a helpful area of focus. And she doesn't like guns one bit.
      It's honestly probably because one of the guns the boys purchased was not purchased legally, they'd have been able to legally get them on their own once they turned 18 as they didn't have a record that would have prevented it, and she's spent so many years studying this stuff that she probably knows all about other weapons that have been used in massacres when they couldn't get a gun (I.E. knives and arson).
      In other words; no background check would have stopped these two so it would be pointless for her to fight for that as Columbine still would have happened if background checks would have been required. If she had recognized her son being suicidal on the other hand, that would have prevented it so that's her fight.

    There families left with unimaginable pain especially Daniels father.
    Sure she's very articulate and sincere but maybe since she is highly intelligent she and her husband should have known when the next door neighbor heard them breaking glass sounds coming from Eric's garage. Come on.
