IMPORTANT: Somehow the bolts that run down the heater channels got edited out of the video,
I’m not sure why.
So you will have those bolts also.
I like the beginning of the videos when you both are there. Y'all make me laugh. 😁
Thank you!
Thanks for another great video you two! This brings back some memories when I did a pan swap on my old 64 in my parents angled driveway when I was 18. Did it all by myself and used rounds of firewood and long 2x4's haha what a trip to be young and careless ill have to send you some pictures
So, basically, if you need to do this to your Bug, clear your work area, have all your tools ready, and practice on a friend's Bug first! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Omg that’s funny!! 😂😂😂 See you tonight!! Chat is at 8pm eastern time with me and Heather.
That was a very good tutorial !
Well -- now that class is over with our -- two Instructors -- we can go home and do what we have learned today -- I think Heather can step in at any time and do these videos now --- maybe we should take a vote? There was a PASSING of a LONG time vw enthusiast in California that Mike Fn Garage covered --- UNBELIEABLE amount of Vw parts -- cars -- bodies -- all for sale. -- check out Mike's coverage of this -- Have a Good One you Two ---- Rodney
The only problem I have with Heather doing it is that we never see her bust a knuckle and bleep out the swearing...I just can't relate to that kind of patient and safety-minded work ethic 😂😂
Heck I could probably build one myself by now 😂
@@TheJorgSacul 😂 I do he just edits it out!
If I have a big enough shop I would get 2 of those harbor freight gantry cranes for body pulles
I bought a HF gantry crane myself.
Another great video! Great job!
Thanks for the tutorial! Very well explained and enjoyable. Your channel rocks!
Great video! I always enjoy the information and I learn something too!
Thank you so much Doug, I truly appreciate that.
you forgot your heater cables. haha.
True!! Sometimes it’s hard to remember when you’re doing videos, and then a few hours later well…. you know lol
Thank you for chiming in my friend.
Thanks for the video.
Great video
Thank you!!
You forgot to mention all of the bolts running underneath the body along the heater channel on both sides.
Thank you, I actually pinned that in the comment section here. Sadly I filmed it and talked about it, but the final cut video was missing some of that footage.
Can you replace a swing arm frame for an IRS frame ?. Any ideas.
Quick question my steering column doesn’t have those 14mm bolts. Do I just grind mine from the steering box? and add them later
I think you can get to the back of the 4, frame head bolts from inside the car. The 1/2 holes on the firewall can be used to spray lubricant on the bolts. A digital inspection camera can confirm that.
Thank you!!! I need one of them small scope cameras. I have sprayed lubricant through those holes before, but then ended up with dry bolts.
So I may have been missing hitting them with the spray!!
@@SladesVWBeetle Sorry, I was wrong. I have a small scope camera and just took a quick look on my 76. I couldn't see the 2 bolts on the passenger side. I even went inside the heater channel. All I saw was a lot of autobody dirt. 😕 I'll try the other side when I get a chance.
@@SladesVWBeetle So what happens if you break those two front pan bolts? Then what?
@@vintage76vipergreenBeetle thanks my friend, I wasn’t sure, I thought maybe I just wasn’t seeing it. Thank you so much for being part of the chat I really appreciate it.
@@SDsailor7 Lots of work! Drilling…tapping! But can be done!
The bolts on the frame head, do you recommend replacing them with newer bolts? It’s sounds like they are not very strong or fragile?
The original bolts are very strong. Very good metals back then! But if there is something wrong with one, then definitely do that. I did a beam video, removing the front beam and replacing it, and showed how to lubricate from behind the bolts.
Is all this work essential to replace two rotten heater channels, I have been dreading doing this for years but will have to bite the bullet in the next year or two!
Is that the rear channels or front?
