Guys, guys! All he said is true. Newton's newly developed cure wasn't actually a "known" cure. Just because it was a cure he knew about doesn't mean it's known. It's known once the public knows of it. I'm pretty sure they didn't.

In London: The professor has suddenly become famous for taking bigger parts of investigations with Scotland Yard. Of late, he was last seen having an argument with a suspect. One witness says that he completely turned the tables on him with one evidence and a loud, "Objection!"
Another noted that it was like a watching a courtroom drama.
"He's much more upfront now; objecting, presenting evidence…wait, isn't that what a lawyer does?"
He can be spotted visiting the courtroom gallery on occasion as well, albeit, he would most of the time interject amidst a trial to point out any contradiction made by either party, carefully leading those in the the trial to the truth with his gentle words, earning him respect from some lawyers. There're rumours that he may pursue a full career in law.
In California: The famous turnabout lawyer has saved the day yet again in the courtroom but not in his usual style. The lawyer has stopped a bombing by solving a puzzle-locked bomb that stumped police for an hour in only three minutes, discovered the perpetrators within and then their manipulator before subduing the former with a broken wooden pole using a fencing technique a top-hatted gentleman taught him, or so he says.
"Every puzzle has an answer." he quoted nervously.
With him outwitting even the great Demon Prosecutor at every turn, multiple law students have begun imitating him, solving puzzles in their free time and, for some reason, "Tapping everywhere for a hint coin," as one student we interviewed said.
This comment deserves more views and upvotes.

@seriousdraw It really depends since Ace Attorney is made to be believable in both Japan and the US, so they would have an easier time localizing the games. Since Layton said Across the Atlantic, that must mean according to this continuity they're American. I'm sure the Japanese release of this game has Ace Attorney set in Japan

Okay, I'm willing to give Layton games a huge suspension of disbelief.
I can believe that there's a chemical that makes it so you faint when you "hear silver,"
that a type of ink can cause mass hypnosis for a decade,
that you can be hypnotized into being able to see through solid objects,
that a solid gold statue of a human being can be crafted in the time that a group of people is unconscious,
and I'm even able to overlook all the witchcraft in London that's never explained,
but you expect me to believe that a twelve-year-old boy can operate a crane with no training? Outlandish!
There is actually some truth in the "seeing through solid objects" thing. Such a color is currently being developed, or at least researched.
also, luke has had much training in many subjects as he is laytons apprentice.

Technically, the storyteller and the great witch planned all that. It's possible they prepared these gold status sooner. (In fact, we can see a statue of Phoenix in the credits, so it's possible they didn't care which they got, and had statues for both just in case Layton did something unanticipated.)

One thing that confuses me about this game is that, apparently, Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton live at the same time, yet England seems to be stuck in a steam-punk industrial age while America/Japan is closer to our modern one while, chronologically, taking place in the future.

It kinda looked like flower petals but the question still stands.
I love how the plot twists have a train of "logic" behind them. Each twist builds on the past ones, and each twist lays the groundwork for the next ones, so - even though this chapter lasts under 3 hours - they never feel completely from left field!
It also strikes a great balance between twists regarding the town itself and twists about the fire.
None of it feels contrived.
I didn't imagine Eve to be only 20. Her character carried herself as being around 30.

There is a reason for his appearance being that Edgeworth will actually play a much bigger role in the DLC storyline which is set after the events of the game.
It not until the DLC storyline when we start learning what happened to all the people we meet in the game. Usually they would keep that part in the credits of the game.
Wrong Pheonix is the Stan Lee he appeared in Edgeworth's games too but in the background.

Calyn Jackson The statue wasn't even in Layrinthia, though. Come to think of it, nothing Eve did in the prologues makes sense! How did she turn into a dove and enter through the window? How did she make a secret door in the bridge that had no reason to previously exist? How did she knock out all 4 of them and take them to Labyrinthia if they hadn't drank the water, yet? Why did she even take Phoenix and Maya if she only wanted Layton involved? How did she fly through the air without any of the cranes and stuff?

Solving that final puzzle while 'Pursuit ~ Casting Magic" (also known by fans as *Spellbreaker*) easily tops my 10 most epic moments of gaming.

I was glad I played a Professor Layton game again, but I didn't even know it was a crossover. It's thanks to this game that I got to know the Phoenix Wright serie. Although, I still prefer the Layton games.

In hindsight I also liked his voice better in Dual Destinies, even though I never pictured him to have a "deep voice" and his "OBJUGHCTION" sounded awful

Since Dual Destinies, Phoenix's voice was very similar despite not being the same voice actor. Edgeworth, however.. egh...
This is probably one of my favorite games of all time, and honestly, the biggest issue I have with the plot holes is that most could have been avoided by simply not adding certain elements.
Like the intro, for example. Once they decided the logic behind the magic in the game, they could have changed the whole thing with the witches and the statues moving since it really wasn't explained with the trick system (The car was physically destroyed by the statue, so it's not just Carmine and Espella under the suggestion drug). You also have the Storyteller's illness, which they could've just not add it at all instead of making an instantly solved drama in the end.
The whole thing about the experiments with the townspeople, the water, and the sound of silver would’ve also worked better if they hinted it sooner, instead of just dropping it at the very end. And they actually had a lot of chances to do so!
Back when Darklaw entered Layton's office as the Great Witch to kidnap Espella, they show her to us extending her golden bracelet to put Espella asleep (back then it was intended for us to believe it was magic).
Now imagine it like this: Give Darklaw a silver bracelet instead of a golden one. Then, she snaps her fingers to make Espella faint, and we also give that snap a specific metallic sound that sticks into the player’s mind, and BANG! We get a full foreshadowing at the very beginning of the game, which would also look like magic to the people who plays it for the first time!
They could’ve also given those examples of the sound of the silver hitting at some points of the game, like every time someone would use magic just for us to notice. The closest thing they did was when Phoenix and Luke found Kira again at the market, mentioning how she disappeared after touching the little silver bell. This was hinting us that Kira somehow became invisible by touching the bell, but they only showed us the bell for around 2 scenes, and it became forgettable. If they showed a cinematic of Kira touching the bell to disappear, we would’ve noticed it better than just casually explaining that she touched it offscreen.
Personally, I can get over the plot holes by thinking about these solutions, and because I can see all the love the devs put into this game (Heck, in the bonus episodes they even acknowledged some of the flaws in the game, joking about the statues and stuff, it just gives good vibes to me).
This game made me feel genuine emotions. I loved a lot of the original characters like Espella, Jean, Barnham or Eve, and a lot of the secondaries like Wordsmith or Emeer are hilarious. And even if some people say that the game favors more Layton than Phoenix, as more of an AA fan, I love how both duos are written in this game.
Even if I knew Maya and Layton couldn’t be dead, the way they portraited it made me actually cry, and GOD, Phoenix breakdown with Barnham and his later conversation in the tavern was just magnificent.
What a wonderful story. I'd love to see more games like this come out. It just won my heart. :3
Whoa, chill. No need to get riled up. I always bought the games, but right now, financial situation wise, I can't buy them all right away. But I do understand the passion for wanting more video games. It's just right now, I can't afford them. I do watch still and support however much I can though. :)

Loved the entire game.. except for 2 voice actors. First one being Maya, although I got used to it eventually. And the second one being... Edgeworth... That voice is just.. what the hell Capcom?
Dude, the game was although made also by Level5.
There are reasons why they weren't able to get the previous VA from the Ace Attorney games. In one of which was because that Level 5 and capcom made the game at the the UK branch of Level 5's studio (this also another reason why EU got the game early than NA). Can't tell, but the voice actors had a problem for coming except the guys of Professor Layton games of course. Since they were in UK they had to bring out alternative actors from there for the Ace Attorney side. Is this enough or you want more facts. Take note that Level 5 was the one who made the whole crossover while capcom had to agree and work it in UK.

This is a certainly fitting end to such a magnificent story filled with lots of dark moments. Will definitely watch this series again!
It's also pretty cool that the entire town of Labyrinthia transforms from the Medieval theme to Da Vinci's Renaissance Machinery theme once the real Labyrinthia is revealed.

Edgeworth's voice in the ds games was the best. The 3ds games all have the worst edgeworth voices.
This has got to be the longest trial I've ever sat through in the Ace Attorney series and I've never expected it to end like this. My hands are still shaking from shock. I've never been so shocked by the ending of a game because I can usually predict it from clues in the dialogue. I expected this town to be an elaborate façade. But, I didn't think it was all for two little girls who were traumatized by the destruction of a town which has got to be the worst incident in Ace Attorney history! This game was awesome and I can't wait for it to become available in the U.S! This has to be one of the most epic and satisfying conclusions to an Ace Attorney game that I've seen yet. Also, one of the saddest and most unfortunate incident I've ever seen. I thought that incident with Athena was gut wrenchingly awful. But, this takes the cake! I was so saddened and shocked by what happened that I couldn't cry! I would love to see the next possible one try to top this! This game was worth three near sleepless nights and it helped me rediscover Professor Layton. A character that I forgot long ago that is the root of my love of puzzles. It's been a wild roller coaster ride of confusion and I'm glad and relieved that it's finally over. Now, to move on to Apollo justice!

And they lived happily ever after. What a great ending. Ace attorney + Professor Layton story never ceases to amaze me. I think I'm a fan of Professor Layton now. IMO, game of the year contender for me.
Fantastic game, everything was solved in the end and the truth was finally brought to light. Also, the circumstances of Layton's and Phoenix's coming to Labyrinthia was confirmed. Layton was brought her by the intent of Darklaw(Eve) to use him for her purposes, while Phoenix Wright's predicament....was predictable to say the least, it was all accidental, so he and Maya got thrown into the mix which explains why they were bakers. Still if it wasn't for Darklaw's(Eve's) accidental move, we wouldn't have this awesome crossover take place. (Although Maya should just save it with that last sentence with the doomed to find trouble statement, it is already enough for him, that he was in the predicament that he and Maya were in, but Maya's being Maya). (Which by the way is making me curious on how Maya looks now if they make a new Ace Attorney game.) Besides that, it was an epic adventure that deserves to even be play over twice. Capcom and Level 5 did a fantastic job with this game.

Yea... I was actually wondering about where Luke went a while back when Layton entered the trial. Since you couldn't see him when Layton walked in, plus he wasn't shown in any of the view like Maya was. So I sort of was hoping he might actually show up in the middle and make some big revelation or something. But oh well.

A few things i dont understand. If they cant SEE pure black. couldnt they TOUCH it? i mean i saw that the machines are not placed in the roofs. But in stead its in the roads. countless citizens should have crossed over that. How on earth does the Storyteller do that?

Okay, I'll admit it. They did a pretty good job of explaining everything. However, I still have a few gripes. What this game is basically saying is that "magic doesn't exist." Now, if it were just, say, Professor Layton & Luke, I'd be okay with this as they've had games where they've done the same thing. My problem is that it's NOT just Layton & Luke, but also Phoenix & Maya. The reason why this bothers me is because most of the games have an aspect of magic it & if not magic, then something that bears a striking resemblance to magic. 1st off, is Maya. Maya & Pearl are both Spirit Mediums, who actually channel the souls of the dead through themselves & this causes them to physically transform into the person that they happen to be channeling. 2nd is the Magatama. The Magatama is a glowing green bead that allows you to visibly see the secrets of other people. It's a bead that, if allowed to lose it's power, then needs to be given to Pearl who appears to simply HOLD it & concentrate her energy into it.
Now there have been other instances where magic has shown up in the Ace Attorney series, but those mostly happen after this game takes place. As such, I don't feel as if I need to bring them up. Regardless, the Ace Attorney series has established that these weird, magical things actually happen. The fact that Phoenix & Maya BOTH are going along with this, just boggles my mind. Which begs the question; why didn't Phoenix use the Magatama & why didn't Maya pull out a Deus ex Machina in the form of Mia?
There's nothing really wrong with it, per say. I just find the idea odd & in all honesty, I was upset when I made this comment. I'm sorry if my comment upset you in any way.
That was just my opinion. I guess I was kinda hoping that if these things happened in front of Layton that he would have admit that there are still some things out there that we, as humans, cannot explain using science. A little selfish, but I just found the idea that, apparently, Spirit Channeling isn't considered magic.

On top of that, it's been confirmed that Ghost Trick is a part of the Ace Attorney universe. So, there is a meteor that has the power to give souls the power to manipulate objects or, with enough exposure, reanimate or take over hosts.

I understand where you're coming from. As it stands, Labyrinthian Magic doesn't exist. However, & please correct me if I'm wrong, but it felt to me that they were referring to magic in-general, rather than simply Labyrinthian Magic.
This might just be me nitpicking, but I still couldn't help but find it odd.
Well, I also think that maybe Maya doesn't believe the likes of her spirit channeling is magic? They call it a "technique", though only women in the Fey clan can use it.

Arthur and Newton did not see it happen, and Espella and Eve blocked out the memories.
The bell tower remained after the fire, taunting the four survivors until Arthur and Newton covered the structure with a pure black cloth.
10 years later, the bell tower was revealed again, laughing at Newton for the wasted efforts. That sent Newton over the edge, resulting in suicide.
Goes to show you the importance of the two main characters: Of course Layton would be the most important person to solve this mystery while Wright... Got dragged along...

man that was a great game, I thought I had everything figured out on the court case of the golden Professor Layton, sadly that was not true in the slightest, yea I got a few details right but over all I was far off

You know what I love about this game most? How much dignity Wright's character gains.
Despite the game being named "Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney", they actually work together and respect each other instead of hating and fighting like in other "vs" cross-overs. This is so pleasant to see after Phoenix had been beaten up and laughed by everybody (including his own friends) through all of the AA games, even though he never deserved it (role of so-called "buttmonkey"). It is funny to some extent, however, I don't enjoy a character being harassed. I have empathy you know. It's just so awesome to see Phoenix finally being... appreciated.
This scene at 41:02 with the handshake just summarizes my feelings. :)
