Point of correction: the film was said to have had a total production budget of 15 million dollars, not 50. And now we're hearing that it may not have even been that high. In a recent interview, when the director was asked about the $15M price tag, he apparently laughed and said, "I wish we had that much!" So they REALLY made this movie on a shoestring!

And it was lower then that. There's an interview with the director and they briefly touched on budget. He (the director) wasn't sure why people were talking about 15mil as the budget but WISHED it was that high. Implying it was significantly less.

Actually, the director has stated he wished his budget was as high as $15 Million, so Godzilla Minus One actually costed LESS than $15 Million

Glad I came across you guys' channel and loved the interaction together! The way you both were going on and on about this movie, i woulda thought you both were gonna say 10. I think you're afraid to give it a 10? Maybe because you're thrown that it came from a Godzilla movie or that it's rare to really find a 10, so you don't want to give a 10 away for free. This was a masterpiece! That's a 10/10 for me. And when you watch it again, maybe you'll notice how important the music was to the whole movie. I did on my 2nd viewing, and really loved it! Hopefully you'll raise your 8s. This movie deserves Oscar noms in many categories and not just VFX. If the lead actor doesn't win a lead actor Oscar, then the Academy will have blown it big time! Btw, I cried even more the 2nd time around😢. Well, it was more a continual teary eyed with gentle sobbing throughout most of the 3rd act. I really had to try and stifle myself or I woulda been full out bawling in the packed theater...but probably not alone. 🤣🥺😭

Dylan and I can be very critical at times haha we have a podcast called Connery Curious where we review Connery movies and have the same scoring system. Rarely giving out 10s but we both gave a 9 and 9.5 so who knows it'll probably hit a 10 eventually lol thanks for watching!

There was absolutely nothing campy or goody about Godzilla minus one! That was a dead serious movie!
Also it’s not the first time Godzilla was evil!!!

Very true! I think we more meant the first time in a while. After being hit with the "monster verse" godzilla flicks we've been so used to "savior" zilla.

There is no traditional Godzilla anymore, there hasn’t been one in decades. Godzilla has been an enemy, a friend, benevolent , a force of nature, etc. I guess you can argue the Showa era Godzillas were traditional since most of those were campy af and made for kids.
