The whiteboard paired with clear explanations made for a great video 🤙🏼 Currently working on a different chassis and I still feel confident enough to diagnose. Thank you.
absolutely amazing video! great explanation and demonstration on how to properly diagnose it!!! Helped me figure out that my PCM was bad after the i got a o2 sensor heater malfunction
Check the set of wires under your truck. Believe me i took this advice and when I inspected the wires under my truck where the transmission and the shaft meet. The wiring harness was rubbing so bad that it exposed the wires. Those wires lead to engine. As soon as i got them closed back up problem solved and my truck runs way better than before. Ever since i bought my 2009 suburban this is the best it ever ran. This got rid of this code and the other ones that had to do with faulty cpu code. Believe me an exposed wire can actually make your engine run bad and set off different codes.

I have looked at many many videos on my fault code P0037 and this one by far has given me the most in depth information on what may be the problem. Thank U!!!!!
Had to extend my o2 harness for new headers and accidently burnt the wires on my headers, so made a new harness and had idle issues so went and got a new o2 sensor and it fixed the idle issue but now I got this code, didn't even think to check the fuse whichis probably blown from the wires melting and shorting...
Hi! What is the expected current flowing through an O2 sensors heater? i measure 0.5A only, which would be some benign 7 Watts of heating power. I measured 4 Ohms on the sensor which should give me more than 3 amps. Or is it pulsed and thus less? Plus side of circuit is fine, the cable to the PMU i still have to test. If the PMU is the problem, what do do?
Super helpful thank you! I need help. Instead of replacing the O2 sensor, I preformed the test like you showed in the video. I found that I do have power to the senor but no pulsating light (4:56) when checking the PCM circuit. No light at all. So, I'm assuming something is broken, as explained in the video at around 5:56. How to I find this broken connection?
This code popped up and I was a little confused when it said O2 sensor heater. But this video clearly explains what O2 sensors do, what where they're located and what the cause might be. I love coming to this UA-cam channel.
So I don't get the pulsing light when checking the PCM feed. The wires are the plug look good. Everything is shielded going back up so how do I check it back toward the PCM?
Thank you for sharing .I have 2 question,I tested my 2 white wire from the heater and it read 00 ohms(even when its running),also tested signal and ground and it reads 1 volt, would this be consider as a bad sensor?. I also tested the signal and ground from the ecu and it reads 12.4 volt is this too high?....
Hi! Excellent video. The last bit touched on what I think my issue is and I could use some advice. '04 Acura TL, getting both P0135 and P0155. I don't have a remote starter, it's all stock as far as I know. Mechanic replaced both O2 sensors, engine code remains. Can you expand on other things like the remote starter example that can cause this kind of multiple, persistent codes? I've checked the fuses. Looked fine but swapped for fresh new ones anyway to no avail. The car has started stuttering during gentle acceleration between 25-30 mph. Could an issue like this be related? Many thanks!
So I did all of your wiring test but when I went to test the 2nd part of your video neg/ pcm as I connect the jumper wire to the tester the light immediately lights up with out turning the vehicle on. And light never pulse like in your video. Any suggestions?
+@r.j.m.5327 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
i need your help, I have the same o2 connector as in your video, 4 wire, 2x whites for elements and black/gray for signal. I been getting 0141 and 0138 which points to the downstream o2, and i replaced it and still getting hi volts b1s2. i checked the voltage on the truck side, as in your video, and im getting 13v for the elements and 4v for the signal. my upstream sensor is working fine and no other CEL codes have returned its always 0138 and/or 0141
If you dont have access to wiring diagram or forget the colours you can switch sensors side to side and see if code moves same as you would do moving coils to check misfire .
If both downstream o2 sensors are removed because of a newly installed turbo kit without cats , would these check engine light codes cause my 18 f150 v8 to go into limp mode at 50% throttle or higher? That's the issue I'm running into
Are you suppose to supply 12v directly to the pcm bypassing the load in the circuit? Could have just backprobed and should have had 12v on both heater wires Key on if the circuit was good,
good video ,, thanks for the info ,,, i have a 2009 mountaineer v8 and my check engine light just came on , when reading the code it show al 4 oxygen sensors are faulty ,, can this be right ?? ,, fuses are good ,, any adviced ? .. thank you .
I have a 2003 Dodge Durango with 5.9l engine I told it for a smog test pass everything it didn't pass because hearter of the o2 sensor didn't pass but had engine codes at all can you please tell me why my car did pass smog I took another smog place it pass in one hour
I have p0036 on my mk3 ford focus bank 1 sensor2 I have fitted new sensor and have reset engine light and about a week later it come up with engine light any Ideas
I have a 2006 Ford ranger 4.0 and the downstream O2 sensor is coming on I didn't check the ground wire yet but it doesn't have any catalytic converters on it I bought it with no exhaust pipes and I made my own y pipe it has the upstream O2 sensors on it and I made a spot for the downstream O2 sensor how can I get the downstream O2 sensor to go off and stop sending the code
Hello can an 02 sensor cause a car not to start? What happens if i mistakenly in stall an upstream sensor in the downstream position? I changed my 02 sensor on a mazda..my car stalled and now its not starting.
I think on the second testing on the tip of the oxygen sensor is not enough to say circuit is good because we need to test the wire from the tip of the O2 sensor to the pcm port, I’m I wrong?
How do you diagnose a p0133? I have a Jeep compass. Can't find fuse locations if it even has them. Pretty sure it wouldn't be and exhaust leak because b1s1 is right on top of the manifold. I've replaced the sensor every year now for 3 years. This time it was 2 days and code came back

That’s amazing. Probably is the most proper explanation on UA-cam so far I found. Nice work

could a break in the signal wires cause this p0141 code?
The sensor has 4 wires, how do you selected the pink to test voltage instead of others

Hello, if the heater element ion the O2 sensor is bad would it show the proper voltage when tested with a odbii scan tool?
Not likely. If the heater is bad it is usually a short, therefore a broken circuit, and the PCM will detect and report the code.
I appreciate it
best video about this subject i've seen! Thanks!
I have code po140 chevy tahoe. I tested everything, replaced wiring, and still have the code. Now what?
If the Oxygen sensor is fairly new, changed all sensors a few months back, what could possibly be the reason for this downstream sensor failure?
This man has at least one mistake. If the ground to the PCM was broken, nothing would work right.
+NACHAL CHAIM Thanks for the tip! We'll pass this info along to our production team.

Hi, what is after market remote starter system being said at 6:11 minutes of this video? Did you mean some thing about crank shaft sensor?
No you push a button on your key fob & your car starts on its own
So replacing it does what? 🤷♂️
Is it going to run better?
Is it necessary?
Sorry. Probably a dumb question.

You're the man I love how you did it on paper good job 👍
You did'nt give the resistance reading for that 02 sensor that always helps
What does a heater sensor do is it for ur heater to heat up
I think on the second testing on the tip of the oxygen sensor is not enough to say circuit is good because we need to test the wire from the tip of the O2 sensor to the pcm port, I’m I wrong?
! Very Good !
Please I need confirmation is bank 1 the left catalytic converter or the right ?
What if when I test ohms to pcm which light pulsates but in my case it don’t pulsate it just stays on ! Lit the whole time what does that mean ???
What if my ground circuit does not blink/pulse and tester is just steady on? Thanks
Isn't it much easier to check the resistance between the heater circuit connector pins before examining other components?
