In todays video i will show how to Cleaning o2 sensor without removing it( toyota camry oxygen sensor location) and also if you can remove it which will be easy for most cars but not all of them, this method is for these cars, thats not easy to remove theo2 sensor so im going to show Cleaning o2 sensor without removing it, both of them will be cleaned with carb cleaner
Oxygen sensor cleaning with carb cleaner is the fastest way to remove that black layer so it reads accurate reading and have better fuel economy
i will be working on this TOYOTA Camry 2017 and i will do both methods Cleaning o2 sensor without removing it and Cleaning oxygen sensor with carb cleaner out of the engine
and show the before and after picture as well

Me too 😀 I'm from Iraq too 😂😂😂
I'm from iraq too, but in spain now
@@AliMECH thank you, I respect you too!
You are brilliant! I performed your procedure on my 2017 Chevrolet Colorado Duramax 4-cylinder diesel engine to fix my Nox sensor deciphered to not be functioning. The dealership wanted to charge me $750 to replace it, but using your exact technique cost me only $11.00 for the spray! Thank you, so much! You saved me a lot of money! My "Check Engine" light is now off after three months. I disconnected the batter after spraying the carb/choke cleaner spray into my master break cylinder's vacuum hose to reset my ECU and when I reconnected the battery and restarted my engine, the "Check Engine" light did not come back on! Bravo, my friend! It worked!
That's great news, glad it helped you and saved you some cash ✌️
@@AliMECHI'm pulling a p420 code low cat efficiency do you think this will work to get my engine light to go away? I have a 2012 Honda Civic LX and I wanted to clean the oxygen sensor but I'm afraid to take it out and break it I don't know if it'll clear the code because it's the sensor or it'll clean the cat enough to erase the code. I used cataclean last time and it turned the engine light off this time it didn't work
My Friend, your videos are so self explanatory and educational, so thank you. Should the intake manifold be cleaned before cleaning the O2 sensor, or is it sufficient to spray the intake manifold vacuum line like you did in this video?
My 2015 Camry SE had 16 mpg , after doing this I get 21-27 miles per gallon , like new thanks alot !!!!!
Do you clean both sensor? Or only one? Thanks
Great video. A little bit of anti-seize on the threads is also a good idea with O2 sensors.
I love your tricks Ali.... Thanks for another great video
Thanks Arach 🙏🏻
Good, clear complete and concise instructions. You should definitely do a lot of these videos. Thank you very much.
Thanks, will do!

Thanks brother, appreciate that
Hi Ali. Cleaning o2 sensor was a success. I followed each and every of your steps and it was so easy. Before cleaning, I was getting 14-17 mpg and the computer showed 300 miles to empty. After cleaning, I filled full tank of gas and now the computer showed 448 mile to empty. I'm getting 27 mpg average. However, there is minor problem. I was receiving check engine light and the display instrument showed "Check Vehicle Stability Control System". I ended up disconnecting the battery positive terminal for a couple of minutes and the check engine light went away. I hope it stayed away and won't come back on. Thank you so much for your instruction. You saved me a ton of money when I can do it by myself. Have an awesome day my friend :)
1 month later is this still the case @Kevin
hello. im planning to do this to my camry as well. did you remove the o2 sensor or spray it through the vacuum hose?
@@kabankachan Remove it
I don't believe that...cleaning 02's basically only cleans the outside and is going to be for a short period. sounds like another internet myth, especially believing an additional 10 MPG.
@@thedbcooperforum I'm sure Kiana cleaned the O2 sensor. I'm sure in Kiana's before/after got more mpg after cleaning. But like you, I question how the fuel economy was "tested". To have a difference of 10mpg, I highly doubt it was the same sections of road or driven the same way.

This might clean your oxygen censor but it will harm your catalytic convertor. I destroyed my catalytic converter when I sprayed a can carburetor cleaner down the carburetor . I was trying to clean my carb in place with out taking it off. A lesson learned the hard way.

Perhaps, may have a more modern sensitive motor, getting worst....
Who said spray it down the carb?
That's the air/fuel sensor good to clean it though, good video
Nice and very clear demonstrations...

Thank you, so simple tutorial. Loved it !!!
Glad it was helpful!
1. you should not use a regular wrench. use an Ox Sensor removal tool OR a flare nut wrench OR a box wrench slipped down over the disconnected wire. once you rounded off the nut part of the Ox Sensor you are in BIG trouble. 2. you have to make sure the carb cleaner says on the can "SENSOR SAFE" or says Throttle Body cleaner. Plain carb cleaner can kill your Ox Sensors
I learned something new, thanks.

I have a 2006 Camry with 2AZFE engine. This video was so simple I will definitely do it! It seems to run fine but it seems like a good idea to clean the injectors and valves and sensor due to age, and also I know it gets short-tripped a lot.

The old carb cleaner spray, we used to spray that stuff into carburetor air intake every month in the 1950s thru 1970s. Modern fuel injection engines will have to do the way in this video. 😎

Good tips, I clean both O2 and MAF sensor will definitely give you a better fuel ratio and mileage.
Great point!
really good quality videos and information, can this method work on VW & Audi FSI engines to clean the carbon on the intake valves? I have seen people take out the intake manifold and rotate the cranckshaft to close the intake valves and clean the ports manually one by one, they say it is hard and use a lot of cleaners and zip ties in a an electric drill to remove the carbon from the intake valves.
Thanks, I have a video, I cleaned it without taking it out ua-cam.com/video/ljQlugKM9P0/v-deo.html this will be helpful for you
Run seafoam through the main vac line
Direct injection cars do not have any cleaning of the intake. Thus a coating will build up unless some gas is sprayed on occasion. Toyota does this VW Audi and BMW do not. One spray will not clean it it needs continuous multiple spraying or as you said and thorough cleaning with brushes or walnut shell blast..
Thank you for video.witnessing with out BEFORE there is no AFTER .great job!

Enjoyed this video. Where did you find the log red spray tube?
Thanks for your guide. If I use Carb cleaner to clean injectors directly as one of your videos, is air fuel ratio sensor clean too or not?
It will but not that much, if it's too dirty
Afr is the same as o2
I put mine in ultrasonic cleaner and that seems to clean them the best
Thank you very much the video is great keep up the good work..simple and to a point no bs.

Doing some work on my car, will try to add this to the agenda. Thank you. Different car, but maybe I can figure out which one to spray into. Have to find someone to hold gas pedal down while spraying, I guess

Very good instructional video. Several thousand miles ago my 2003 Camry (currently has 152,000 on it) was displaying a chk. eng. light. Took it to auto zone & the diagnostic scanner indicated a faulty 0xy sensor. Best I remember they had a special tool they loaned me for changing it out. Does there have to be a problem somewhere else in the engine like a bad injector etc. to cause a sensor to mal-function?
Thanks, whenever the o2 sensor gets dirty, there must be some problems, could be clogged fuel injectors, bad spark plugs or ignition coils
@@AliMECH catalytic converter?
Wow , thank you, you’re amazing
Happy to help!
ChrisFix Style, well a good done video brother! thumbs up!
Always put anti-seize compound on the threads of any hot section part....!
That oxygen sensor, according to the image, indicates that the mixture is too rich in fuel.
Cleaning the sensor does not correct the problem.
The check engine warning light only indicates that the emission level of the engine is not correct and that the lambda factor is not being met.
On the other hand, zirconium dioxide, the main component of most oxygen sensors, degrades over time.
Cleaning the outside of the sensor will only allow, in the best of cases, more gases to enter to react with the ceramic that performs the measurement (zirconium dioxide covered by a metallic layer).
In short, if the check engine light comes on and the oxygen sensor is not degraded by use over time the problem is probably in the injection system.
If the sensor has a long time of use or miles, change it.
Yes that's right, I had one failed fuel injector, after I cleaner all the injectors, I wanted to speed up the process for cleaning all the O2 sensors,
that's right, O2 sensor not getting dirty unless there is some serious problem
what is the symptom of o2 sensor has degraded by use overtime?? please help coz my car has a high gas millage
@@Abdullah-hc1cz The best way to tell if an oxygen sensor is out of use is by using an oscilloscope.
Excessive consumption (up to 15%) can be a sign that the sensor is not working as it should and it is not possible to adjust the fuel consumption to the stoichiometric ratio (14.7 parts of air / 1 part of gasoline).
However, excess consumption may be due to other factors that indirectly affect the signal sent by the oxygen sensor to the engine control unit, which is what regulates the duration and quantity of fuel injected to try to achieve perfect combustion (stoichiometric ratio):
- worn spark plugs.
- permanently open thermostat of the cooling system.
- faulty engine temperature sensor.
- Faulty injectors (diesel) or injection solenoid valves (gasoline).
- defective catalytic converter
@@ihrtecnomecanica9420
Hey, thanks for the information.
Quick question, is it reliable to use a Lambda sensor on a two stroke engine? They sell them but I fear the sensor won’t last too long and I will have to be replacing it very often, at the moment I’m using an EGT sensor but it’s a bit vague, It’s almost impossible to know whether the engine is tuned to perfection, Exhaust gas temperature can go from 650 degrees to easily 690 or even 700 and the engine is still performing fine, so maybe a Lambda would be more accurate, of course if the sensor lasts long enough to make it worth while.
Thanks 🙏
@@p.c.h.6721 Surely perfect for carb tuning, but I don't think an oxygen sensor while running a two-stroke engine will provide very reliable values.
The exhaust gas flow in these engines is slow and pulsating, which will produce erroneous readings.
Additionally, combustion in a two-stroke engine is less efficient (the exhaust gas contains a variable amount of unburned oil and gasoline in each cycle), which can also lead to misregistrations and sensor contamination.
It is also true that the records of an EGT sensor can vary significantly based on heat, humidity and air density, but in two-stroke karts, for example, the EGT is the most widely used.
Thanks again man awesome video I Will hit the bell icon
Thanks for your support
Thanks for using your time to show this video, helpful information
Glad it was helpful!
It is a great video. But I am thinking if you can clean the O2 sensor like that, the catalytic converter should be cleaned as well right? So I don’t have to remove the o2 sensor and spray directly to the catalytic converter.
If an engine has direct injection, the intake valves can get very Carboned up. This process would be good to perform periodically..
Yes exactly I did a video about it too, showed with proof that it clean the intake valves as well

@@AliMECH I have 2011 Corolla LE I want to clean my O2 sensor where is the vacuum line in my Corolla, is it same place as Camry you shoes in video or is it somewhere else.
@@jaleesxyz it should be on the intake side right before your manifold. Look for a connection after the air intake filter.

Cool. Will try to clean it when I change my spark plugs.

That outer metal shield just protects the ceramic / working part of the sensor its not important that it is carboned that much
The condition of the outer shield is a strong indicator of the condition of the sensor under the shield. Is it really that difficult to figure out?
@@fluxcapacitor1621
The ceramic gets super heated and cleans itself more likely it needs a new sensor us ASE master techs do mot clean them

Carb cleaner will foul the 02 sensor-brakecleaner.without removing it as you remove it??
I tried acetone. Nothing else got wrecked (very diluted), not sure it had a problem anyway.
@@louf7178 carb cleaner is basically acetone unless you go with the Berryman's B12 stuff, then it's 50% toluene and like 30% acetone with a bunch of other stuff.
Put ANTISEIZE LUBRICATION on those threads!
what type of camera did you use to film this? excellent video quality
I like your videos!
Thanks Jimmy
You forgot to mention USE Anti-Seize compound on threads so next time sensor comes out easy. Spark plugs too like Anti-Seize
Yes that's a good idea to use, but I never use them, and never had any problem
Ya it isn't smart to not use anti seize and he will have problems cause you can even see the rust on the threads.
@@MrKoalatea Yeah now that you mention it the rust will probably cause a headache in the future
Wouldn't hurt a thing to put some anti-seize copper on the O2 sensor threads before you thread it in, and tighten it. If you don't do this, the next time you need to remove it, might not be so easy!!
Very well explained
Thanks for watching
Great video! Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
On some cars you have to reset the ECU to delete the adaptations, otherwise it's going to take forever for the ECU to adjust the mixture.
Right because if you want to get paid and act like it's fixed you need to shut it off right now because it's one of those codes that don't come on for a while so after you make your money you can take off running
Why not use mas flow o2 sensor instead of carb spray
Cause carb cleaner is cheaper generally.
Mass air flow cleaner is basically electronic parts cleaner and won’t cut the carbon build up. The problem with cleaning an oxygen sensor is it may not help if the sensor has broken down, low voltage output or is lazy. So it doesn’t hurt to try but it may not help.
great video !! you just earned a new follower !!
Awesome, thank you!
Is this vacuum line before or after engine? how to find that hose on other model vehicles?
