I agree, I’m actually having fun with him now playing in solo matchmaking cues, I run speed revive, full heel, tough as nails and regenerate and I mostly stall and once I get rotated, I activate regenerate and keep my sick souls and only use it when I really need it.His hyper armor made him much more useful and I could be top scoreboard now instead of third or fourth place most of the time.
Sohei’s main issue is his gimic and it’s ultimately his down fall…if they buff him he might be too busted and if they leave him as he as whats the point in using him? And if they nerf his one shot and buff him in general also whats the point? His gimic isnt “gimicing” any more…point and case sohei was a mistake, hopefully a prototype for a better hero next time, but we all said that about medjay
I've been playing Sohe without using his power serge unless I was alone in a 1v1 or able to yell at my friend to not attack. I mostly now on stalling with him by using tough as nails and saving it to heal while using it as a scare factor.
I play him in a similar way, focusing on collecting my souls. Instead of using my strongest attack, I hold back on purpose to unsettle my opponent and keep them on edge. Only when I truly need to will I use it, or like you I’ll get my health back.
@@shaqinthebox3417 I just use the souls for the damage buff that makes his attacks do normal damage instead of garbo. Can clear minions in Breach way more efficiently. I almost never use soul attack
Honestly what I would've done is make his 3rd feat passive like how nobushi does 20% more damage when her opponent is bleeding, except I would've made it so that any specific weapon he gains a soul on it does more damage, so his undodgable lights would do 10 instead of 6, his left heavy would do double the amount of bleed, the hammer does a bit more damage with a stun effect, and his right heavy could work kinda like a guardbreak/wall-splat. And then I would replace his 3rd feat with hard to kill or something like that, I think if he was like that he would be so much more interesting to play and go against, I would also make it to where if he guardbreaks you he can only use one weapon, so if he does top heavy on guardbreak he would only get a soul for that weapon specifically, and of course do the standard amount of damage that heavy does, same for lights, that way it doesn't feel like your getting cheesed eventide you go against him, I would also let him combo OPENER light into heavy and opener heavy into light, that would be so much better, probably tone down the (1 shot) to about 70 damage and then spread the rest of the damage to the rest of his kit

playing with kb+m for 7 years here... my only advice: the essentials keys (like GB or full block) bind to a 5+ button mouse, and you can lower your mouse dead zone too
A character who can heal his entire health pool and do a pseudo instant-kill on a bash doesn't need any more. He doesn't need to be anything but a utility bot, because adding anything else to make him competent in neutral would just mean that we'd have to nerf his inherently swing-y primary mechanics. Then, we'd just end up in another community outrage over "loss of identity".
He needs all souls to heal himself, which he can do with his tier 4 feat, but by that point the game's practically already over. "Pseudo instant-kill" isn't an instant kill, and he still needs to land a reactable, uncancelable bash to initiate it, then hope absolutely nothing, including teammates, whacks him out of it, and then he's out of souls again and back to base one. He absolutely needs more buffs. Even simply increasing the damage his top heavy finisher does would help, or make his tier 3 base and have his damage go up each time he gains a soul. Just SOMETHING if they refuse to make him any faster.
Sohei as a character works, He aint supposed to be this mixup god. You play him for one shot and the fear that induces. His zone now is easily one the best moves in the game, you can trade in the middle of other peoples chains. Force them to bounce by zoning on parry timing. He beats feint into light with neutral heavies. He does so little damage in chain to make up for the fact he has a one shot, a full heal, and a forced mixup on every dodge corward the moment he has his souls. You can easily net 30 on the trade with zone into chain light. No one blocks them if you have the corresponding soul. He works with what he has, and it gets the job done. Does he struggle in some fights? Of course, but it swings so drastically in his favor the moment yoj gain the sixth soul. Trust me i know, i climbed to GM with him before his buff.
I don't mean to be negative, and I get what they were going for with Sohei. I even like him, but it just doesn't make sense how a dude who's Shugoki sized with so many weapons does so little damage. His weapons are huge too! That spear should not be doing just 18 dmg on side heavies for example lol. Just my opinion though.
And respectfully they NEED to give him more hyper armor bc he's literally top 3 biggest characters in the game but a character like berserker has more hyper armor than him??? If they did that then distributed his damage better then just nerf the 6 soul hit he'd be sm better imo
Light and heavy chains nah, but they should increase the damage at least of the heavys. Everytime I play Sohei people just never parrg my heavys and still win
IMO, make it easier to get all six stacks, but reduce his ultimate damage. IMO, all heavy finishers should be a bash attack (like Gladiator's toe stab), this way it would make it harder to defend against, while justifying its lower damage. All light finishers should be undodgeable. And then just nerf his heal ability to 50%
@@GameFuMaster”make it easier to get souls” okay now how will you do that in the first place?
