  • Before doing an FTP test in Zwift it is a good idea to run the calibration feature. This helps ensure that things like tire pressure, change of bike, or other variables don't skew the results.
You work hard for that FTP, make sure it is accurate so your workouts correctly match your fitness level. Calibrating takes less than 30 seconds and is super simple if you know where to find it.
Let me walk you through it!

what force should the flywheel have on the tire?

For " wheel on" trainers you want to position the trainer tight enough against the tire that it won't slip when you step strongly on the pedals from a dead stop. If it is slipping this can not only give you wonky data, but cause some knee discomfort as well.

What kind of crank is that???

They are a specialty training cranks called Power Cranks. Each crank has a clutch in it that makes it so pedaling with one side does not push the other. REALLY works the hip flexors!
