From what I'm seeing, a 14-50 plug is more common for our EVs. RV parks etc use a 14-50. The neutral can be ignored for an EVSE.
You are correct. Technically I'm not sure if it's code to omit the neutral on a 14-50 in case someone plugs their RV or something into it later, but the EVSE I bought happened to have a 6-50 so that's what I put in.
