I don’t think the multiplayer in Bannerlord is as bad as my fellow warbanders are making it out to be. The chained attacks and feint animations add for a lot more flavor and techniques to use in combat. And sword and shield doesn’t look as boring and easy as it was in warband since you have to block left or right.
this game is bringing a lot of games with similar mechanics together, such as mordhau, holdfast and such. warband players dont like being out classed by people they never heard of
Giru knew there was a guy behind him because when a guy backs up like that and looks to the side its because he doesn't wanna get in the way of whats coming. Giru's just been in thousands of situations like this where it's just drilling into his head lol.
My only big gripe right now is how impossible it is to use a shield in 1st person. I play M&B in 1st near exclusively, so I guess I’ll have to dust off the long bardiche.
its more realisitc, if you use the shield to actualy try and block arrows or hit, you blind yourself , you parry only when you need to parry and remove it . i would force first person in a realistic server to balance shield parry power.

The only time you might want to cover your face is when blocking arrows, but you shouldn't need to see much when you're doing that anyway.

Mordhau should take some notes on map design. Not to say this is nice but there is tons of room to actually team fight. Objectives in frontline are just cluster fucks that need more open space. Half the time you are getting body blocked by team mates and cant foot work at all.

Maybe the system is super in depth and it just doesnt show on video, but the fact remains , it *looks* clunky. Maybe you're a fan of m/b or smth, never played it a lot, and i can get that but nothing changes the fact that this games seems clunky as fuck. You can increase combat speed in server settings btw hardcore servers will be faster. Warband looks clunky too but people fight fluidly, but you are right combat animations should be better.

Well, to be fair. Homosexual men were much more common than warrior women, and those are allowed in warband. So it isnt too far a stretch as you joked about. If they were to allow that somehow it should come with the appropiate downsides though. Just like being a woman made marriage necessary and lords treat you poorly often, being gay should make (same sex) marriage much harder of downright impossible, with harsh treatment if it becomes known. Reason I dont think they will actually allow for such a playthrough is because of all the dynasty and family related mechanics. Even if homosexual relationships between warriors were a pretty common thing in some cultures, they wouldnt start families. I think im looking too far into the joke, but it wouldnt brake the game like the implications go. Many cultures that arent based on christians or muslims could realistically have homosexuality. Ancient greeks and romans had no issues with it, especially in their armies. They thought it meant better bonding and thus teamwork. It wasnt until the spread of restrictive religions that the world became ashamed of sex and especially anything that deviated from vanilla husbad-wife sex. Thats it, ill make fun of the article complaining about the (likely) lack of homosexuality in the game like everyone else, but I'll also aknowledge that it wouldn't be a game breaking addition either.

They added chain attacks and feints, which is really cool and adds more flavor to combat. If you want a game with a lot more directions in combat....there’s mordhau
In regards to your comment about being able to do gay marriage in singleplayer, in Warband you can, so I don't see why they'd change that in Bannerlord.

They do have shadows in the gameplay demos but I bet its just taken out because this is probably an unomptimized mess, the multiplayer client that is, since it's separate from the other demos.

It pisses me off seeing this shit already starting in Bannerlord. The stupid crouching and explosive movements that this guy is doing in combat will be the reason nobody plays Bannerlord's multiplayer and why Mordhau has lost a lot of its playerbase. I remember when Mordhau was first released, combat actually looked realistic and it didn't feel like a spin to win fest. Now it's absolutely horrible to play. Every second guy you run into is a ballerina who spends half his time not even looking where he is swinging during a fight and still manages to win. It's such a big problem with medieval combat "simulators" where no life virgins find the exploits like hiding animations or finding hit box inaccuracies. Bannerlord multiplayer will be fun for the first month but then people like this guy will be 90% of the playerbase. Singeplayer will always be fun people so get your multiplayer time in while you still can.
so far after watching beta videos from several youtubers, my opinion is that people most in the beta right now are very likely average skilled as i am lol... all i'm seeing are people trying to outspam their opponents lol... i haven't seen anyone who can manual block for days lol... and cav definitely feels OP... i hope there isn't too much range figgotry like in warband mp lol
there are 4 attack directions and 4 block directions, when using the shield there are only 2 blocks directions the attack directions are up, down, left, and right same with the block directions except when you have a shield, then the block directions are only left and right in order to block an attack you have to block in the direction of the enemy's swing there is also feinting, which is what it sounds like, you can feint an attack going left but change it to an attack from the right mid-swing there are 3 different attack types (blunt, piercing, cutting) cutting (swords and stuff) is pretty baseline against everything but it does less damage against shields and armored oponents piercing is found in spears, javelins, arrows, etc and is good at piercing armor blunt does blunt damage that knocks oponents out rather than killing them this is a singleplayer RPG game but only multiplayer is released so far

Forget duel servers - just stop using a shield. That said the vast majority of the players in bannerlord make your average ‘mount and siege’ players melee abilities without a shield look impressive. Its pretty obvious that there are lots of new players who have never played a mount and blade game.

To parry these attacks, you also need to move your mouse to place weapon parry hitbox between you and those incoming attacks, thus you need to judge the direction of the incoming attacks, too. To chamber a swing attack, you need to choose the correct direction from the 6 directions. to Chamber a stab, it is sort of like M&B, any kind of stab can chamber any kind of stab. By the way, in Warband, some weapons have no stab, which means no stab chamber, in Mordhau, every weapon can stab, which makes sense. What mordhau lacks of is there is no guard stances, once you press LMB, the attack is committed, you cannot hold the release untill the time of your choosing. I really don't like this.
Because there is stuff to hate about Mordhau/Chiv mechanics that is apsent in Warband or Bannerlord. There is a long history of both core mechanics being utilized by industry: Warband; Age of Chivalry; Pirates, vikings and knightes; Chivalry; WotR; WotV; that mmo called Tigersomething. Quite some time to gain a bunch of fanboys. I mean i didn't even tried Mordhau bcz after 500h in Chivalry i hate it so much that i don't want to touch anything similar. At the same time i have 2k in Warband and 1.5k in WotR so i was so hyped i pissed boiling streams. And again, MnB is not just multiplayer, it's also a single where you can spend almost unlimited time and a billion of mods.
What are these graphics and gameplay man? Jesus Oblivion, released in fucking 2006 looks better than this. And combat seems so clunky. If this is the beta, there's no way all this is going to get fixed before release. This game might just be DOA.

@@lilithshopping7904 How come? In Bannerlord,you have 4 way manual blocking and chambering. It's alot harder than Mordhau since you can do complex feints and attacks are a lot faster in Bannerlord. Mordhau is mostly about timing.

In Mordhau, players can attack from 6 slash directions and 6 stab directions. To parry these attacks, you also need to move your mouse to place weapon parry hitbox between you and those incoming attacks, thus you need to judge the direction of the incoming attacks, too. Otherwise, your opponent will attack around your incorrect parry.
To chamber a swing attack, you need to choose the correct direction from the 6 directions. to Chamber a stab, it is sort of like M&B, any kind of stab can chamber any kind of stab.
By the way, in Warband, some weapons have no stab, which means no stab chamber, in Mordhau, every weapon can stab, which makes sense.
What mordhau lacks of is there is no guard stances, once you press LMB, the attack is committed, you cannot hold the release untill the time of your choosing. I really don't like this.

Because there is stuff to hate about Mordhau/Chiv mechanics that is apsent in Warband or Bannerlord.
There is a long history of both core mechanics being utilized by industry: Warband; Age of Chivalry; Pirates, vikings and knightes; Chivalry; WotR; WotV; that mmo called Tigersomething. Quite some time to gain a bunch of fanboys.
I mean i didn't even tried Mordhau bcz after 500h in Chivalry i hate it so much that i don't want to touch anything similar. At the same time i have 2k in Warband and 1.5k in WotR so i was so hyped i pissed boiling streams.
And again, MnB is not just multiplayer, it's also a single where you can spend almost unlimited time and a billion of mods.
What are these graphics and gameplay man? Jesus Oblivion, released in fucking 2006 looks better than this. And combat seems so clunky. If this is the beta, there's no way all this is going to get fixed before release. This game might just be DOA.

Mordhau is better game
Bannerlord has manual 4 direction blocking and it's a lot harder to play than it's shown here since it's mostly people who never played such games before. It also has a full single player which is maybe the focus of the game. Comparing two is stupid. Mordhau focused on fighting mechanics in multiplayer only.
Mordhau is fps and multiplayer based and M&B is rpg with additional multiplayer
