@@jessica_7474 In our games (both American and rugby football), it's, "Who's got the tee?" And after some asking around, somebody produces it and throws it into the field. My favourite sport on my favourite baseball channel? Amazing! Small thing, but technically if the French 10 had put the ball on the ground when he picked it up, France wouldn’t have been able to punt it in. Because he picked up the ball outside the end zone and then brought it into the end zone, if he put it on the ground New Zealand would have received possession and the game would restart with a scrum on France’s 5m line, which is why he was trying so hard to avoid that. 2:40 small correction: french n10 cant really really ground the ball inside the in-goal. if enemy team introduces the ball in the ingoal and you ground it, you have what it is called 22mts restart (more or less equivalent of a punt). but because actually n10 himself introduced the ball to his own ingoal (see how he grabs the ball BEFORE he runs IN the ingoal), touchdown or being tackled in there would be a scrum for NZ 5yards away from the ingoal. huge disadvantage. basically a guaranteed try at elite level.
Yes! French #10 brings the ball back into the "endzone," he waits for the ball to roll but it sits up just outside the endzone. He decides to run it because worst case scenario he gets tackled and grounds it.

In my opinion, that bonds our nations in a way that the rainbow warrior incident cannot break.
Great to see some rugby content here! Slight correction to add to the others that have commented about Ntamack not able to ground the ball in this situation, but also the whole reason this scenario came about was not because New Zealand were just trying to get rid of it, they were purposely kicking the ball into such an area where they'd either be able to get to it themselves and score or put immense pressure on the French player who'd eventually get the ball near his end zone, which is exactly what happened but Ntamack pulled off a genius play to escape the pressure.
I was a rugby player in California . Thank you for doing a video on this great sport ! The remote control at the end brings out the ball or water bottles. The players do not rotate in and out like in hockey or basketball snd the clock is always running. But they need to drink water because they are running and tackling for two 40 minute halves and no time outs and certainly no television time outs . You can sub in players later in a game but the starting player cannot return . So they are in there for a long time. Sort of like a pitcher in baseball. So the remote control cars are needed . In the old days , sideline people would run the ball or water out to the players
Who would’ve thought as a North American that I would’ve learned more about the geopolitical issues between France and New Zealand through a UA-cam video breaking down a cool play in a rugby match vs learning about it in a class in school
Jomboy doing rugby? Man I love your content. You made me a baseball fan and I'm happy you're branching to rugby. This is literally one of the most "Jomboy" breakdown of some New Zealand v France bs. 10/10
Great breakdown lad. Just one small point. France wouldn’t be able to punt it down the pitch if no. 10 just tapped it down as he had taken it over his own try line. Instead it would have been a scrum at the 5m line which is a far less favourable position than a punt. Other than that it was a v enjoyable watch.
Interestingly, NZ is one of the most dominant teams in international sports, with 77% winning percentage. Beating the All Blacks is one of those super rare things that happens so rarely no wonder teams get fucking jacked when they do it.
I like how this dude watches like a 3 minute rugby highlight and then an hour later he's 3/4s of the way through a documentary about the politics between two nations from 35 years ago. It hurts to watch my ABs lose, but the French did play real well so respect to them.
As a Brit living in the US who is a big Jomboy fan I appreciate the earnest rugby and cricket breakdowns of the last couple of weeks. Normally American breakdowns of sports like this resort to "isn't this wacky and quaint" type content so big respect. Also, the little car is delivering and collecting the kicking tee to and from the kicker when he is kicking the penalties.
15 guys per team, no forward passes, and play doesn't stop when a player is tackled, instead both sides fight for possession (called a ruck, usually offense wins the ruck). A try (rugby touchdown equivalent) is worth 5 points, and the conversation kick is worth 2 points. Any other kick at the posts is worth 3. Games are two 40 minute halves
The RC CAR brings the ball onto the field, kinda cool. Thank you for promoting the greatest sport in the world. USA Rugby has a long way to go but God willing will compete with the big boys one day.
Hey Jomboy, the France #10 picked up the ball outside the in-goal, AND THEN brought the ball into the in-goal. He cannot ground the ball, or else New Zealand instantly regains possession. He can either kick the ball down the field (cannot go directly out of bounds), or run it out. No way he can turn around + line up a kick + actually complete a good enough kick. Therefore, run baby run!
Not only can he break down plays, he can break down geopolitical controversies

really nice one
appreciate the little history report between those two countries.
Breakaways I'm rugby are so rare, this is incredible play
I like how this dude watches like a 3 minute rugby highlight and then an hour later he's 3/4s of the way through a documentary about the politics between two nations from 35 years ago.
It hurts to watch my ABs lose, but the French did play real well so respect to them.
Gotta be the most I’ve ever learned from a breakdown💯
I’ve been waiting for Jomboy to breakdown some rugby for years. This is awesome!!!!
I mean that's how everyone reviews sports that they've never played. Same thing happens with American football, cricket, lacrosse, etc.
I wish I knew more about rugby. The school rugby team scene in Monty Python's Meaning of Life is the most I have watched.
It's remarkably accurate of the experience of playing rugby at English public school when you're only in the the lower 5th.
Ntamack was unreal in this game! Incredible game all around
Wow, jomboy doing rugby!!! Never thought I’d see it, awesome to see him doing a breakdown on the sport I play and love
Love seeing you breakdown some rugby
Great video! Would love to see more rugby content in the future, hopefully we can convert you into a fan!
Damn. Loved the history and geopolitics breakdown too.
As a NZer I’m still happy we got a shoutout on Jomboy.
I don’t know anything about Rugby, but still found it cool.
I've been waiting for a rugby highlight from you Jomboy!!! Yes!!!
What’s the documentary called?

Love the history zing on this breakdown Jomboy 💪🤷😂
its awesome with Jomboy doing a ruby breakdown
Fucking Great job for you JOMBOY history & Sports. AWESOME 👏👏👏👏
I loved this more than I love other videos that other people make.
The RC CAR brings the ball onto the field, kinda cool. Thank you for promoting the greatest sport in the world. USA Rugby has a long way to go but God willing will compete with the big boys one day.
This thought process is me after smokin the devils lettuce. Quality content every time.
"No look offload, term I've known for a while now." TOO GOOD
Yes boy!!! Been waiting for you to get to some ruggers
Incredible depth to this breakdown
Omg yessssss jimmy boy making the move into rugby! Love it.
These are the kinds of Breakdowns we're looking for. HAHA
Would love more rugby breakdowns!
